Yeah dream on nothing will come except some halfhearted january dungeon and eventually the necro and armor rack late 2017, which is fine.. but not really what the game needed.
Blizz and a few of the dedicated D3 players could have taken this game somwhere, but Blizz is a big machine and I guess pets, transmog and the occasional useless legendary gem is what the game has come to. Sure necro looks cool, but the armory is really stuff anyone with 1000 hours D3 woudl have implemented years ago for free.
I do enjoy the game, but Blizzard is fuck all passionate about it..we used to get weekend buffs and events.. now they dont even care to change anything for new seasons except a new portrait or pet. Stop dreaming its not a conspiracy to make something grand new and shiny, its just a big corporation, killing its game slowly while selling as many D3 copies on post like this.
Nothing is a dream, it is people like you that want to ignore facts as presented to you.
Blizzard North was independently working on D3 when WoW was gearing up for release, the project failed on their watch as so much key talent jumped to flagship. The D3 we have was built from scratch a bit after they shut down blizz north, meaning only 5+ years of actual development.

And it really was not even 5+ because the new team was not assembled until around 2008, and only scraps were developed up to that point.
4 Years for a fledgling game designer and little budget room will lead to garbage, we got to witness that first hand.
Things are changing within the company now, which will certainly lead to improvements.
Any hope for a new expansion or is diablo only going to get more content patches. If so does anyone else feel the content patches should follow path of exiles style of reworking the classes? New items and ways to get them are nice but it would be fun to experiment with different skills again.
patch 2.5 is gonna be bigger for sure because there must some reason behind this mini patch 2.4.1 which they havent done for a long while.
That's only if 2.5 ever actually materializes. It's quite possible, sadly, that D3 has reached the end of its production lifespan. There's really not much that can easily be changed anymore, since set dungeons ensure that the sets they apply to will not be drastically altered. Lots of cosmetic stuff for future seasons has already been data mined. As sad as it sounds, I'm suspicious that new content for D3 will only dwindle from here on out. Maybe number tweaks and power creep, sure, but it's seeming less and less likely any dramatic or sweeping changes are on their way.

2.5 is very likely the Necro Pack. We know right now that it will come out after July 1st, and it will feature the Necromancer, 2 stash tabs, and much more.
We have no clue what the "MUCH MORE" i though.
Being that it will be a larger patch, there is going to be a lot of content other than the Necro, but you will need to pay for the Necro and 2 stash tabs.
Well I hope you are right Demonmonger and "your facts" in pointing somewhere new and shiny, playing D1, D2 and sucking it up with D3 through all the fixes and Eras, just taught me to believe that it's actually not going anywhere quick. I wish they would charge us more for more content, I am sure we are many D3 players active or not, that actually would enjoy paying for regular new content. Not sure how the Blizz business model works, not sure if they know anymore either.
I would gladly pay for more content. With the Necro Pack there will be 2 new stash tabs, sigil, banner and a pet. There are changes coming for crafting mats, the garderobe for saving builds some new legendaries and reworked ones. There are new Kanais recepies talked, charms that are planned, but I dont know if this ever happens. Lets see what the future brings. Maybe more payable packs coming?
They did not humiliate a damn thing, you people need to drop it!!!!
You think that the darkening of Tristram and motivation to create the Necro is nothing? All World of Warcraft did for its 10 year anniversary was offer an xp boost, and give a small bag of goodies.
The passion they are pouring into D3 is evident, they still care about the game immensely, and the lot of you need to stop acting like self-righteous people and see the facts!
This is Diablo, not Warcraft. Any sort of comparison you try to make is futile. Nor we Diablo fans want to be like them.
They are a cash machine and we are the black sheep of Blizz offspring. They get 3 huge content packs a year.
Of course they embarrassed the franchise legacy. What you, and the other 3 fanboyz here, want to believe does not change what we have been given.
I do not want to "imagine" facts, as you do. I want FACTS.
And the fact is a January crap event and 1 year ahead, probably, till necro pack with some reused skills and NO CONTENT.
This is what , as a fact, we will have been given in over a year of "passion development".
At this point, I'm inclined to believe you are part of the d3 development skeleton crew.
No one else sees your "facts". And guess what? We would all love to see them.....but they are not there.

IF, and that's a big if, we get an expansion, it'll be at LEAST two years from now out, probably more.
There's no way they'd release a whole new class by itself if an expansion was anywhere in sight, and the necro is at least 8 months away. They also are using the wording "character pack", which of course means there will be more.
I'm near certain there will never be another expansion for D3. We'll get something like a character pack once a year, with maybe a new zone and some sort of vanity item with it.
And considering there hasn't been anything close to a whisper about changing and fixing ANY of the fundamental problems most of us have been bringing up for years, this all doesn't bode well.
If that's all that's left of the future of this game, I think I'm out. Hopefully I'm wrong though, but history has repeated itself too many times with this game.

And all this being said, expansion is an outdated word anyways.
A DLC pack is the exact same thing, but more modern. A DLC pack is typically lesser variations of content, offered more frequently. Instead of doing an expansion 2 years later, you will typically see 3-4 DLC's in that time.
Fundamental issues are subjective, and the ones that people on this website talk about, typically balance of current sets, etc.... they have in fact addressed this as something they are always looking at when able. They are adding DX11 64 bit via the next patch, which opens up floodgates of potential changes as performance will not be as much of a concern given DX11 64 bit can handle much more.
The bottom line is that when you have Frank Pearce talk about the future of Diablo 3 and the franchise as a whole, MAJOR THINGS ARE COMING. Frank is a massive center piece within Blizzard, as a cofounder of the company, and the fact he talked about D3 in the opening ceremony is being far overlooked.

It's being overlooked because it didn't have any actual CONTENT. We got nothing concrete.
While I agree that fundamental issues are subjective, you didn't actually provide any substance to back up your claim that the issues are being addressed. All you brought up was that sets are being balanced relative to each other... which isn't actually on the list of core issues at all. I've already typed out my thoughts on all the issues many times, so I won't again here. However, those issues have NOT been addressed, at all.

You are right, I'm being quite negative with the future of this game. I'll give you that.
But I'm trying to express my utter frustration with what I expected on the 20th anniversary of our fav franchise.
Frank Pearce might be a big guy in Blizz. But the real point of him going to the fans as the new face of diablo is...that there is no new face of Diablo.
With maximum respect to the guy, they were "supposedly" hiring a new game director, since Mosqueira run away from there. And their new director, the person who is gonna bring the franchise to the future is.....a founding Blizzard member? That's new blood in there , huh!
At least we were awarded with 5 Diablo minutes in the starting ceremony; that's a big improvement from 0 the former year.
Some positivism in there! Happy 20s.

Actually, there is a new face, they simply have not announced the individual yet.
The bottom line is that top end employees would not talk about the game if the series was dead. People like going to the extreme because a game is not 100% what they want, no offense, you are this type of person. The facts are that they have an unannounced project, filled multiple positions within the last 6 months including lead game designer, and openly stated at Blizzcon that contrary to vocal minority belief, this game and the entire series are not being overlooked, and are a MAJOR part of the future of Blizzard entertainment.
Beyond that, what is the point of arguing and complaining over what is. They said what Diablo 3 was going to be, and made adjustments to improve it after a massive Vanilla fail. They gave us tons of free content which they should not have. It has been 11 months since the last major patch content, so I can understand why people are impatient, but again, I feel the lot of you are diving off the deep end blaming the company because of your own lavish expectations which were likely completely irrational and based on nothing but self desire.
Your last comment culminates everything I said, when you mention 5 minutes, even though Diablo 3 was on stage for around 28 minutes give or take and was actually 25% of the opening ceremony.

What did you Expect for a Anniversary Event?
To be actually Honest, its amazing what you people demand. You paid one game, and one Expansionpack, and then declare that you made them "Rich", that was several years ago.
I think you should actually be happy that there is actual development happening so long after Release, without any kind of sustained income related to Diablo III.
To be fair, I think they hyped it up too much through their ambiguous responses.
When someone tweets 'I really hope this year Diablo gets a huge announcement at Blizzcon' and the official Diablo twitter replies "Blizzcon will be really cool this year :-)", a Necro pack and D1-inspired dungeon isn't exactly what people expected.
Oh no doubt. I'm totally looking forward to the Necro and I thought the announcements are awesome. Generally speaking though, not a lot of people would consider this a 'huge' announcement, especially when people were already pining for an expansion or sequel. Realistically speaking, many already expected it wasn't going to be that big, but that doesn't mean they weren't hoping for it, especially if Blizzard was confirming 'something cool' and keeping those hopes high.

Then it loops into people overhyping things.
The tweet said "cool" not OVER THE TOP FUCKING AWESOME WORLD BREAKING CONTENT!!!!
Before even being hyped for anything like this you have to fix the core issues with this game. Half the sets in the game are worthless and the ones that are viable have no options for the most part for customization which leads me to LoN which it's whole purpose is customization but it's a weak weak joke. No caps on grs paragons and gem leveling make the game feel as though you never accomplish anything and that only little bit of end game content is boring as fuck. There's nothing to customize gear wise because you always end up with the same stats for damn near every build. Ya some things need to be addressed first before dumping more polished turds after the necro which holy crap that's all a bad joke, onto the pile
Whatever, to each their own.
