Chain weapons would fit perfectly in the world of Diablo and besides the Flail, there isn't much use of chains. Here are a few that would be perfect for weapon use.
Kusari Gama (Chain & Sickle)
Ball in chain
Chain whip
Nunchaku (Monk only)

The "ball in chain" looks extremely impractical though... Not really what I'd expect in a hack and slash. And since there won't be any class specific weapons, I also wouldn't expect the nunchucks..

That is an incorrect statement. MOST ITEMS will not be class specific, CERTAIN ONES are though. This is liek the wand, only a wizard or WD can use it cause really does a Barb want to use a wand? It doesn't look right. Same way as in a MAul who else can use gigantic mauls? noone so only the barb can use a maul. They had a whole list of class specific items.
To the OP: Great idea I like the nunchuk it looks great and the whip would go perfect for the hunter type of class to whip her animals into shape, or demon whichever you prefer to stand by, and to use as a quick weapon like a sword if it were ever needed.

Not even Death will save you from Diablo Bunny's Cuteness!
More weapon variety would be nice... There are class specific items like orbs and fist weapons. I don't think there has been an example of a barbarian specific anything though. He may just be able to use weapons sooner. Same for the witch doctor, I don't recall class specific anything... He can use any weapon that's not class specific though, which means you'll see Witch Doctors with mauls, lol.
Seeing how all those weapons require a considerable amount of training to be efficient with them I would assume that the monk would be the only one able to use any of them. Although the barbarian is a weapons master, finesse just isn't his style. So adding class specific to a class that already has a set doesn't seem likely; especially when everyone else is lacking badly in that department.
I can just imagine the barbarian cutting him self with that whip when he goes berserk. xD
Okay, this is considering the final class is a ranger/hunter type, but don't you think sort of chain weapons like that would fit for a hunter class?
Just my thoughts on that.
Not at all. Some of them only fit martial arts classes, and others would only fit barbarian-like classes (like the ball and chain: it would require massive strength to wield efficiently). Also, the forest (where I picture hunters mostly) is the last place where you want to be swinging around long chains.
I can see my barb bringing down a lot of monsters with that chain whip.

Oh and i would like to see these type of weapons in game. Probably for the monk.
I'm just afraid I'd hang on to them too much even if they're bad weapons... I hanged on to helmets a lot in DII...

Those weapon would have a greater range but lower speed (excepot the chaku).
