It would kill me if I didn't get frightened by the game sometimes. Diablo II frightened me the first few times I played it (Duriel), and Diablo I to this day still creeps me out. I wish they would sacrifice some action for a real strong horror vibe.
There's a lot I'll take, as long as gameplay is addicting and not frustrating. It's hard to think of anything other than boring gameplay that would kill the game for me. Who cares about the rainbows?
Oh, come to think of it, a 2012 release date would seriously make me consider not buying the game at all.
Just wondering what you guys would be considered game-breaking to Diablo 3, and make it a game you don't even want to look at.
Only one thing will make this game unplayable for me. And that's...
if the game is announced for 2012 causing me to lose interest and then meeting a hot girl who will cook some delicious cookies for me. My girlfriend will leave me because I couldn't explain where I got the cookies. I'll get depressed, and in my depression, take the car out to drive one day and run over some stray dog. The sheer guilt of the cascading stress in my life pushes me to buy an axe. I will return home and cut down that tree in my parent's yard that I always hated but now that I'm suffering from insomnia, I don't really know what I am doing and I cut down the wrong tree. The latter crashes on the house killing both my parents. Turns out they made their will as a joke some years back and gave everything to the dog(that one is alive) but forgot to change it.
I'm sentenced to 112 years in jail for premeditated murder but on my way there, an airplane flying over the countryside gets shot down by a nerd who was launching his first rocket experiment. The plane crashes over some railway tracks and the speeding train derails and skids a couple of miles and touches the vehicle carrying the prisoners. The driver seeing the train in his rear view mirror gets scared and hits the gas pedal, causing us to tip over the cliff.
Oh I forgot to tell you how we got over the cliff. I'll explain a bit later I guess.
I would like to see what you guys think, and also, maybe what you would do if these nightmares came true.
I wouldn't know what to do man- the events I described seem pretty inevitable to me. Doesn't look I would be able to play D3 at all if this turns out to be true.
My life. I find as I get older and have more and more responsibilities, I finder harder and harder to get "addicted" to any game. So, if this game does not come out until 2012, I'm just not sure how much time and energy I will have to play D3.

So very true. Not saying your old, but you seem as though you may be older then myself. lol. And I ALSO get that feeling. Theres so much going on in my life right now that I don't think Id be able to get into a game like I did WoW, (when I was a senior in high school when it first came out.)
I really don't know what would kill the game for me. I enjoyed most Hack&Slashes out there except Loki maybe, the problem in which was just the awkwardness of gameplay. And that would probably be it. If killing enemies is... awkward... then nothing will save the game. lol
Diablo 3 still has huge potential to fail and until I get my hands on the game I'll always be sceptical.
Dunno, I don't really see that.
Diablo III will not be worse than any of those Hack&Slashes out there most likely. For one, it has them as examples, for another, a lot more work/money is dumped into it. Even if it's not going to be as amazing as people expect it to be (who am I kidding, it won't, lol), it's going to be fairly decent.
If you mean financially, again, even if people are not happy with it in the long run, the sheer number of people who'd buy it just because it's Diablo is going to be more than enough for Blizzard to reimburse the costs.
Honestly, it has very little room for failure at this point IMO.
Judging by the words "until I get my hands on it," I'm sure he meant D3 had the possibility to fail quality wise, and not sales wise. Which is so true.
I covered that point. DIII has very little possibility to fail quality wise. There's just no room.
What kills the game for me is people complaining about things they haven't seen or don't really know about yet.
This is a "what if" thread, so your troll point is invalid.
As Equinox has said, there's very little room for failure in terms of quality. But quality doesn't necessarily mean re-playability as even a beautiful game with no bugs etc. can still be boring as hell.
I'm wondering if they are getting more stressed the more the game is coming closer to being finished. Because one of the main guys behind SC2 said that they reached their all time high stress peak when they were really close to shipping the game.
Whenever I would get stressed by an assignment because the due date is only a few hours away, it would make sense because I started it just then. But if you've been working on the game for years now, how is it possible to start stressing the hell out close to shipping? Shouldn't they be done with the game with a week or even a month to go before release?
Don't they announce the release once they're done, rather than nearly done?
I already saw a fairly good amount of gameplay, etc... And i can say, for sure, D3 will not ultimately fail. I can also say that D3 could be alot better (FOR ME. It will problably please most old D2 fans despite the common hate. But i expected something different).
The only things that could kill it for me are A)it's somehow nigh-unplayable as a single player game, B)the plot stinks (especially that) or C)they tone down the violence, which obviously won't happen. Other than that, I'm not very choosy.
Honestly, for people who whine about the art-style, just get over it, the art style at this point WILL NOT CHANGE.
They are too far into the game.
But one thing I fear is the attacking style. Just look at it! It's just like Torchlights lame "action" just you cleaving your weapon, and the enemy dissapearing in a blood spirt... Kinda lame, but I hope this won't be a problem.
There's so many things I fear might happen to D3, and these fears are supported, due to the fact that the makers of D1, and D2, aren't the makers of D3.

Will be changed at some point, I'm too lazy right now.
Honestly, i don't have high expectations for Diablo 3, from all the games Blizzard has ever made, this is the one with the highest chance of being a bust.
In any case, the 4 player cap and pk's being out, already kind of killed D3 to me. If item hunting and pvp sucks and the game has no replayability then thats that.
Get real, folks, the diablo you all knew is dead, a few years ago i said right here in this forum that D3 had a pretty good chance of being blizzard first bust (i was flamed to death ofc), and what you know, its not even beta and its already looking that way.
