Yup, we're going to have more bots in 2.3, it's inevitable. The question is how long it will go on and now much general public exposure will be needed before Blizzard proactively does something about it.
Not enough people care about the major underline issues with Diablo 3.
You have 3 Types of people in the community:
1. "It doesn't effect me type"
2. "It isn't like your going to be able to compete anyways type"
3. "Blizzard has done a great job, and they shouldn't change anything type"
This is what happens when you don't develop game content built upon a stable foundation.
If the core mechanics of the game are not polished, and certain regulations & rules aren't put in from the get go, these problems are always going to keep re-occurring over, and over and aver. They don't need to ban people people continuously, but to send a message that inappropriate behavior has a 0 tolerance policy, and don't reverse decisions on people who are found to be cheating.
The diablo 3 community put its own self in the current situation that it is in. Anything to balance the actual game, or make the foundation of the game better, people don't care about. Add in a increase of legendary drop rates, people will fight to the DEATH to say "Hey can you keep it in the game, I think it will make a better gaming experience"
A big example of this problem, can even be viewed in the WOW community.
"Blizzard makes a show using OC Choppers, and names it Azeroth choppers, instead of providing additional content for Mists of Pandara to WOD"
People didn't care
"Blizzard makes Level Boosting to Lv 90 with a $60 Price Tag"
People didn't care, and even supported this
"Blizzard makes the wow token, allows for it to be sell-able for gold"
People didn't care
"Blizzard decides to not allow anymore flying in future content"
EVERYONE PULLS TOGETHER IN THE COMMUNITY AND LOSES THEIR SHIT, and Blizzard reverses their decision.
TLDR: The community is what put us in this situation.
With the AH gone, I have no reason to care about botters since I don't intend to put in the 12 hour days necessary to break into the top 100. D3 is a competitve game for very few people.

meh the top 100 requires your friends/clan have a trial monk/wd with trial setup/kriderball and crus with exploding...that can group well in trials for 65-70 keys.....(and run the typical trial amulets...(snake ammy or pulls w/e. with dh full dps mode) then u have to fish for zombie rift...you certainly dont need 12 hours per day to get top 100. in the rift the monk swaps to krider and wd and sader go support...its pretty much rng atm....things are changing soon because you wont be able to trial a 75-80 which will be next s...
and im glad the auction house is gone...ive knows friends that made 3000.00 in a month..playing diablo...its still doable now...but its mainly streaming..which really i dont give a FF. about...i enjoy the game and if i happen to beat a 67 or something ill be proud.( cause rarely anyone has keystones, which is why im finishing out my monk for pubs.)
i prolly should have recorded farming trials for 65+ when my monk friends was doing it. theres a guide in monk builds tho if you really wanna push...certainly dont need to game more then a few hours...xp runs and decent rolled gear can get u there...
If you really feel the need to not play amongst botters, or get bored playing this game two months after patch etc, whatever reason exept game mechanics balancing etc ofc....start playing Hardcore.
Problem Solved
That doesn't solve anything
Besides, hardcore is just a fun mode, we all know it's not the "real" mode and the mode blizzard mainly supports...

After reading most replies to this thread. I have one question. Why do you keep playing a game you hate ?
And on the matter of botting. People say the same thing they do in wow.Blizzard can't afford banning botters.. Erm.. diablo do not have a sub fee. Banning botters so they would have to buy a new account would be the only thing they could do to get more money from game sales. And thats what they should do aswell. Keep updating their anti bot tools monthly.
And was doing MP8-10 effectively and I would find 7-10 legendaries an hour when I was farming. Granted they all sucked because the stat affixes were horrible. But when I did find a gem of an item I would make lots of money on the AH.
I got my Barb geared the hard way, and AH my way to greatness on my Monk. My Monk had the luxury of finding a perfectly rolled Inna's belt that I sold for 2 billion on the AH, I'm still sitting on some of that money I bet (I never dropped below 300 million gold after that sale).
I'm a casual player, and I never noticed in D3V that drop rates sucked.
HOWEVER... T6 Rifts don't seem to drop legendaries at all... I could do 2 or 3 and not see a single legendary.
I do a level 1 Grift and see 2, do an 11, see 2, do a 21, see 2-3, do a 31 see 0... It seems to be completely random.
I feel like an entire 2 hours of Rifting nets me nothing some weeks, so we've decided to just GRIFT.
Overall though, I don't think Botters affect me because I don't care about leaderboards. I do however think Blizzard should be more vigilant in banning botters and taking peoples reports of botters seriously. I once was banned from WoW for botting and I haven't ever botted again after that, wasn't worth the risk to me. Today, people don't feel there is any risk to botting so it is rampant.
Funny, considering most players me included have around 30-40 legendaries per hour by speed farming grift 35.
Whether you think D3V had good drop rates or not is irrelevant because it's a fact that Blizzard nerfed the drop rate because of the auction house, they even said so themselves. I call bullshit on you not getting a single legendary in 2-3 T6 rifts, it might be true if you skip everything and only kill the RG and then leave. Open chests, clear the whole thing, don't just kill the minimum amount required.
On another note I find it rather amusing that people are claiming that Blizzard does not ban botters, they in fact do ban botters and huge banwaves are coming regularly.
And comparing 35 Grift farming to MP10 farming is like comparing fishing with dynamite and fishing with a bobber and a worm. I never said farming Greater Rifts isn't effective. I even said I'm sick of farming T6 because Grifts are so much more effective.
Only solution is get better at banning bots. If you can't identify botting software, then look at sketchy metrics (like being in game 20 hours a day for week after week).
To remove awesome new game play features so botters don't have an advantage is possibly the dumbest thing I've heard suggested.
Blizzard bans botters/cheaters all the time. They just don't tell you about it. All because people have not been banned recently does not mean they won't in the future.
Solution: Let Blizz do its job. If there are new programs and exploits people are using to cheat, Blizzard will eventually figure out how to detect them, and take the appropriate action.
Why is botting bother you? It is not like there is a competition. In order to get to the top of the leader board, you basically need a lot of luck. Good maps and then good boss.
Blizzard also need a way to reuse the extra legendary. The extra IK weapon should be able to salvage and use that material to upgrade the IK weapon or whatever. Like 1% of damage. Or other stats.
Make bounties only SOLO play. I think this is the best solution. simple.

Honestly, botters gonna bot. Cheaters gonna cheat.
To a certain extent, exploiters going to exploit
What blizz needs to do is more effective enforcement.

What the hell you care? Just play your own game like everybody else! Let sick ppl bot if they want.
We can't. Those people then play and corrupt the ladder.

So what? Just go as high you can, what the hell is it you buisness what ohers are doing?
i honestly couldn't care less if other people bot.
i don't give a crap about e-penises so i don't care that people are higher on the leaderboards, have more paragon points or whatever
all that matters to me is that the game is fun
and removing a huge improvement in fun factor because some kids are afraid their e-penis would get smaller are a huge no to me
That would be a REAL paradise for botters))
That doesn't solve anything

Didn't they make it so reforged items CANNOT roll ancient? If this is the case, then the thread you linked with the guys point is invalid.

I never realized that this forum was so full of casual players
Then again, I come from an old school fighting game background, so I play competitively
