For me that's not how it works. I almost never get a legendary from the RG, and i'll be lucky to get 1 legendary before killing him. If I fully clear, I end up with at least 5 legendaries (most of the time). My best was like 8 or 9 with a full clear. It would take me at least 5 runs of ending after the RG to get the same amount. Not exactly maximizing anything there.
Oh, and the "experienced/dedicated/serious" players I play with fully clear rifts...
You're not gaining benefits from a legendary right off the RG, you're benefitting from the roughly 40% chance to pop a legendary form kadala in the 30s between rifts.
Quick math, assuming 100 shards has a 40% chance to pop a legendary, and assuming that you spend 35 seconds between rifts,
Kadala Maximum Theoetical Legendary per Hour rate (Assuming 100 shards every 35s) - 40
Whether or not to clear the rift is partially dependent on clear speeds. If you take 5-10 minutes to clear your legendary drops will be dominated by normal rates. And even at a 10 minute to GR clear time kadala is already netting you an estimated extra 3 legends/hr As you get faster at clearing rifts Kadala rewards begin to dominate your legendary acquisition. Just because you have anecdotal evidence suggesting something else does not change the math or statistics of the process. Chance of goblin rifts and their general rewards provide a slight skew, but there would need to be significant testing on how much they matter.
btw: If anybody can find a more current study wit ha larger sample size I'd like to see it.
Honestly i don't even think about if i get more or fewer Legends/XP in a 1-2 min Kadala run.
It's simply way more fun to full clear and sometimes have wtf moments in a dense rift with 5+ packs at once or a huge Goblin Rift. 2min rush then 30s waiting is not fun at all.
Full clear no doubt. Anybody can clear so fast now, and I usually don't have the time to pick up items on ground. Goblin groups are common place and must be included in all calculations. As Bagstone said how can one open 40 rifts per hour and tolerate the waiting time (30s *40) in between.
Look the original purpose of "kill close open" was for shard farming. Thats it. But with the introduction of new gobs and 2x gob week, ideally you should always full clear. The probability of bumping into a shard gob is like 50% of the time you open a rift.
Do you know what kind of loot I get from killing a RG? a free forgotten soul and 90-100 SHARDS.
full clear i get at least 6-10 legs per run and waste less key frags. You want to close it go play anything but T2-T6. if you close it i will vote to kick you. and I guarantee the two other randoms will agree.
This morning before work, I decided to continue a rift after killing the boss, and I'm glad i did. Went to the next level of the rift to find a room full of goblins and landed myself an ancient Sunwoko amulet. I normally just end the rift after the boss, but I will probably clear more since my luck was finally in my favor.
Always full clear. More Exp, more Loot, more legs. I never join groups who just kill the rift boss and open new one. You would not believe how many Legendarys you are missing out, just because you arent full clearing.
Urm. If keystones were hard to get. This would apply. However. If you have more than 1000 keystones like myself. Its the same fuck if you kill the 10 elites after the RG is dead or if you kill those 10 before the next one.
You will get more loot by closing after guardian and start a new because you get more shards ontop of the same amount of kills
the goblin pack you find after the guardian. Its just as likely you will find in the start of the next one.
I'm preeeeetty sure that people prefer full clears because Bounties can be a bit boring and they simply don't feel like doing them that often. Regardless of what yiels more or less legendaries
Bounties are time consuming as well and the legendary rate is poor. By closing the rift earlier you are effectively decreasing your playtime ratio of rift:bounty. That has an impact on your overall legendary drop rate as well.
yes. thats 100% correct. maybe the insta closers will think about this truth before trying to argue they will mathematically yield more legs their way. they are wrong.

1 Minute Clear (35s Kadala) - 15 Kadala Legends/hr + Normal Legends/hr, 7 Dropped Legends
3 Minute Clear (35s Kadala) - 7 Kadala Legends/hr +Normal Legends/hr, ~8 Dropped Legends
5 Minute Clear (35s Kadala) - 5 Kadala Legends/hr +Normal Legends/hr, 9 Dropped Legends
10 Minute Clear (35s Kadala) - 3 Kadala Legends/hr +Normal Legends/hr, ~10 Dropped Legends

I have my RORGs and dont like to farm for rift keys. So I dont want to close immediately.
