I knew this would happen eventually, i'm just a little surprised at how quickly it happened. I'm already at the point where the pool of legendaries left that exist which would be an upgrade is very small. In fact I think I have 8 items left.... Thunderfury, Cindercoat, Axe of Sankis, IK Boots, IK Belt, Earthquake Legs, Earthquake Helm, SoJ. Anything else is just instant-salvage and i'm not saying i'm not still enjoying playing just surprised how quickly i'm at the point where i'm salvaging 99% of drops, is most others already at this point or have I just been insanely lucky with drops?
I salvage most of the items I get aswell but I have only gotten 2 set pieces in total, I would like to get a few more but with my luck it probably isnt going to happen anytime soon.
ive been insta-salvaging gear for about 5 days. I'm at teh point wit my crusader that only near perfect rare rolls (fixed with enchants) or a select few legendary items can be improvements. Due to this I have actually found myself logging in less and less, however it could be slight burn out being a contributing factor too.
I just find it annoying that after say 6 hours of play, all I have achieved is a larger gem and enchanting mat collection and maybe another few paragon levels.
I guess you're just too lucky. Half my gear is still rare, the other half are mediocre legendaries. Only one of my items is from my pool of desired "endgame gear" (Vyr's chest), but since the int roll is 64 short of being perfect I guess even there's potential. And I've played a lot since release, really quite a lot. Just very unlucky (for example, 6k shards and no leg; no set item besides the Vyr's chest, and that in ~150-200 hours since 2.0.1).

dayum, i've only got 1 rare left and that's a ring with 400 str/6 as/48% chd/6% cc so kinda hard to replace XD. Yeah a lot of my stuff isn't the perfect roll of that item, but i've never cared much about the 1-2% more dmg/tough it's more the huge change items like some of the stuff I listed above.
I guess the question is have u been unlucky or I lucky? hmm XD
Well, i started looking only at Legendaries now... and i probably shouldn't because i can totally replace my amulet with another rare (i hate that every yellow is already identified... i want to pick up only amulets now and have a glance at the ground to see what item is it, instead i have a hard time recognizing the slot of a dropped piece of gear if i'm not looking at the model on the ground... but that's another problem).
I felt the same, but today i dropped Tasker and Theo gloves plus Bombarder's Rucksack quiver and that will open me a whole different build with a different set of stats (cdr and ias instead of cc/chd), so i think you are focusing too much on the mainstream legendaries and not much on what other items can offer you beside the usual, boring and unimaginative CC/CHD/IAS MAX DPS CHAR SHEET GALORE YEEEEEAH that we are so used to play with for more than 2 years. So, maybe you reached a point where your max dps won't go any higher, but try to think outside of the box and play with legendaries effect and sinergies between them and your skills, just like the older games where you created a whole new character because you've found a piece of gear to unlock a different build.... or just keep rerolling your actual equipment for perfect rolls.... <.<'

Once you've seen 100 items drop in each slot (and equipped the best of them), you should expect to be salvaging 99% of all future drops. It's impossible for it to work any differently.
http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/fitsu-2502/hero/125749 is me atm, got a rare amulet cus ran out of rubies to reroll my arcane heal amulet thing. There are still some of the bis legs I need like cindercoat n stuff which will boost my stats a lot it's just there's no more loot between what I have right now and bis.

Ohh, you can see rerolls on armoury now awesome :D.
How is that reaching a loot wall? It's harder to get upgrades in D3 than there is in wow, and i personally have gone 4 months without loot in wow, missing 5 pieces to finish my gearing. Deal with it, be glad you're missing that few items. You're well on your way. Haven't gotten huge upgrades since the first couple of days, what i do get though, a tiiiny upgrades each day, which is ok. Did you really expect to be fully geared with best rolls allready?
I don't mean this in a degrading way, but trust me when I say you have a lot of room to grow.... A lot. Just because an item is legendary doesn't mean it's best in slot. The gear exists out there to solo T6, If you're not doing that then you aren't at the loot wall. Your gloves (and maybe boots) will last til end game (if you don't decide to go for your other set). If that's not enough for you, roll another char. I have 4 level 70s and I love gearing them all. Another option? build a cold barb set... Theyre fun and hard to gear for.
I'm getting toward 100 hours on my new wizard and I still manage to get an upgrade or two every single day. Yes, that's even with my current gear.
I just picked up my boots and pants upgrade today and also rerolled my Thunderfury to 10 more damage (YAY) and amulet to 6% more crit damage (YAY). Yesterday I got the gloves and the reroll. The day before that was the shoulder/bracers crafts. The day before that I obtained a new Tal Rasha source. The day before that... you get the idea.
G2Win (Grind To Win).
Edit: I realize some people may not believe me when I say I haven't played 100 hours on my new wizard yet. But pretty much all the progress I've made so far has been on my new wizard.
Much resistance and armor. Dat mitigation. Close to 98% damage reduction now.
Wow Jaetch... I thought you had much more hours played than me and that's the reason why my loot just sucks, but now I know for sure I'm just Bad Luck Brian. Got about the same time played since release (maybe just a bit less) but no "real" upgrades since day 1. Playing mostly T3 rifts for hours every night.
Yeah, hitting the loot wall is all just about RNG. I'm gonna play like crazy this weekend to see if I finally get some upgrades (all legs I get are just crap, I think I have around 45 Forgotten Souls). Becoming a bit demotivated hearing from people they even salvage Thunderfury and stuff because they don't need it. So if anyone feels like me... just hang in, at some point we'll all find something. Maybe. Hopfully. :-/
Dont want to sound arrogant/ignorat or whatever but ur kiddin about that loot wall, right? ... Every single slot on your barb's profile can be 'easily' upgraded. By 'easily' I mean, you dont need best rolls in game to upgrade them.
Could you give some examples? Other than the 8 I posted above I can't think of anything other than upgrades of what I have.
So you need soj and you need a particular one, then you need cindercoat but you won't have the ik bonus anymore so maybe you will need to find some other items best suited for you like magefists, andariel. Those need to have good stats also. Then maybe you want to make the bul-khatos set, or if not, maybe get axe of sankis. Maybe change those pants with ones that proc something, pox faulds or maybe you find yang pants and change everything from there.
So now, where is the wall? At this point, beside boots, belt, royal ring, I would change everything...
Already have magefist, andies, raekor set, bk set and hundredth spear in my stash don't have yang pants but given how I can already whirlwind indefinitely and it's damage is a joke compared to hota I have no real interest in them. I guess Pox could be an upgrade, never really thought about those and I mentioned 8 items I do still need in the OP but only needing 8 items out of the entire pool of items in the game like I said means i'm salving 99% of stuff I find. I'm not finding this to be something that's causing me to be bored i'm just a little surprised at how quickly I got to the point where if I haven't got BiS in a slot i've got something that could only be upgraded by BiS meaning I salv everything else and I just didn't expect that id be at that point already.
loot wall? no. fun wall? yes. I think RoS set a record for getting boring very quick. It was great seeing a lot of friends getting back into D3. But 80% of them are bored already and back into old games. meh.
The loot wall does indeed come quickly if we're talking about the joy of finding upgrades every night or even every week. Hoping to get the next upgrade sometime within the next three months of hard farming will not be many people's idea of fun, I imagine. There are a few things you can do to change this however, if you want to have fun in d3 and are not content to simply jump ship.
#1. Play hardcore. It's much harder to evaluate upgrades when survivability and offense must be carefully balanced (sidesteps at any rate can feel more significant in the sense that they represent important trade-offs). There is also a tendency for spontaneous ladder-resets, which afford you the possibility of getting the gear all over again.
#2. Play more than one class. It'll be a while before you deck out all of them.
No I do not feel this way. My goal is to level and gear one of each class so that they can farm early torment levels. Eventually I'll choose one to take into the bis builds. Until then you'l find me ripping through master with my totally sub-optimal 2h barbarian while having a great bloody time.

Are you doing bounties or rifts?
I keep getting new, worse than what I had before weapons and the occasional crafting recipe but that is it.
