I finally got my 5th piece of Akkhan's - and it's fun to melt face, but it is kind of boring - especially since we all know Firestarter will get nerfed...
I'm looking at your "Fire Crusader built around Maximus T1-T4" build, and I'm confused. http://i.imgur.com/EaFewxF.jpg
Is this 2.0.5?
Sweeping Attack just feels so lackluster, and why Electrify rune over say Crush for Fire?
Also no real elite killer like Bombardment. Does this build require 6 piece Akkhan's? I've got 4 pieces now, need one more to hit 6-pc w/ RRoG.
Exactly, but I was confused none the less. Pretty new at Barb, but I swear when I had that passive equipped I was doing less Lightning damage, but that was probably in my head.
I built a Hallowed Barricade to use with my Golden Scourge 1H Flail, which also has +Holy damage % and does Holy Damage.
Even with the +10% Holy Damage on weapon from the passive, just about any decently rolled 2H will perform better.
Even with almost 40% + Holy Damage between the two items.
If the two piece bonus for Hallowed Protectors was, say, +500 strength instead of 10% attack speed, it probably still wouldn't be as good as a decently rolled 2H.
If you made one, hold onto it though - I'm sure at some point here they'll buff/change/nerf etc. Heavenly Strength so that 1H are viable in some fashion.
I did this already, nope, it's not worth the effort.
Crusaders are all about the Spenders (Blessed Hammer, Blessed Shield, Shield Bash, Fist of the Heavens) and the Convictions (Heaven's Fury, Bombardment, Arakat's Champion). This combo sounds cool, I had the chest piece, I had the recipe for Golden Scourge, I crafted it! It wasn't even that fun. Smite is so underwhelming.
Better to use 2H and focus on builds that focus on Spenders and Convictions, not on Builders.
You could always run a Rift solo on Master and see how it feels. If it feels really easy, and you never die or are really at risk of dying, you are T1 ready.
... and just cleared a bunch of Bounties on Torment 4 without issue. Single target is pretty good, was able to kill the Butcher w/o too much trouble. I switched it up from Slash to Justice as I like being able to kite around and stay at range a bit while my minions are tanking for me.
Next up, have to try a Torment 4 Rift.
This build would be VERY powerful w/ 6 piece Crusader set. (and of course better optimized gear than I have!)
Name of the build probably sucks (it's early, only one cup of coffee so far today), but boy oh boy is it sure effective. Do you want to be a thundering powerhouse with a literal army of followers just tearing through demon after demon? I sure do, and man is this build fun to play and watch!
This build does have two legendary requirements to fully utilize:
I think the synergies are obvious - you stun enemies with lightning damage, these stuns create two clones of yourself (very powerful) every 30 seconds, and your hits also create an army of 4 or so mad cows (D2 style) which add to your army on its Crusade, and every 15 seconds for 5 seconds you also create 4 ethereal bowmen to add some ranged support to your front line armies offensive might. You have up to 10, yes 10 units in your army (11 if solo w/ your Follower) doing most of the hard work for you.
I am just ripping through Torment 3 with this build, going to move up to Torment 4 soon.
Justice-Burst: Lightning damage + stun, but you can use any Lightning skill that has a chance to stun (Slash) I like the ranged/kiting ability of Justice
FotH- Fissure: Very, very powerful skill, takes a little practice to get used to, but put a fissure in between the mobs you are fighting and watch them melt
Provoke- Charged Up: one of the best Crusader skills in the game, IMO, gives you more Lightning damage and refills your Wrath
Phalanx- Bowmen: Great single target DPS, high uptime, with Akarat's-Rally you can maintain 100% uptime during its 20 sec duration
Bombardment- Impactful: Great single target and AoE burst damage, can get two off per Akarat's-Rally
Akarat's Champion- Rally: Because honestly it is amazing and should be in just about every build
Passives:
Heavenly Strength: Obvious
Lord Commander: Great boon to both Phalanx and Bombardment
Wrathful: One of our best if not the best healing tools in our arsenal, and with FotH + Provoke / Akarat's you get lots and lots of healing out of it
Righteousness: One extra FotH per full Wrath orb, more damage/more healing and faster regen w/ Slash/builder
In terms of stats, the usual Crusader mix but high Critical Strike chance and Critical Strike Damage really go a long way, but so does Cooldown Reduction to keep Bowmen up more often and Provoke use more frequent.
Maximus would likely work well with this build too, but come on who doesn't want an army of cows to join their clones and bowmen?
Very, very effective build at clearing trash, melting boss/elites, good clear speed, and high survivability due to healing + stuns + an army of NPCs to tank for you and take some aggro off of your hands.
If you can get these legendaries, try it out and enjoy! All comments/feedback welcome. Thanks!
I found the recipe, and then farmed the materials to build the Golden Scourge - even got a fairly decent roll on it, paired with a Hallowed Defender and a couple of other pieces of +Holy damage and general all-around decent stats...
Still do lots and lots more damage using a 2H.
The Gryphalcon's Foot or whatever is probably the only viable 1H, but really only if you also pair it with the leg shield that makes Blessed Shield bounce 5-6 times. Even that very specific gear set and Blessed Shield build most people will say isn't that great for anything above Torment 4.
Right now there are only a couple of "end game" 2H - Mortal Drama for Bombardment/Phalanx builds, Fate of the Fell for Holy builds, and Blade of Prophecy for Condemn Holy builds. Maximus is pretty darn good for any build, but not as effective as the above.
Socket is critical for the weapon. Going to be hard to go past T3 w/o a new, better rolled 2H with both socket + strength.
You also have very little +All Resist. All Resist > Life, Life on Hit, Life on Kill, Regen, and certainly Vitality.
Armor is also > everything except All Resist. Really for defense as a Crusader it goes AR > Armor > all else. I honestly don't know how you'd survive T3.
Stats to aim for (according to everyone else, and I agree) is:
Crit ~ 40%
Crit Damage ~300%
Armor ~ 15K
All Resist ~ 1100-1200
Strength ~ 9000-10000
and if you are using +block and Renewal passive for healing/to stay alive, ~60% block

I've got 59% +fire dmg due to Maximus, Magefist, bracers, currently rolling w/ http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/crusader#bkYOfQ!aSWY!bZbZba to speed farm T2 rifts.
So I guess my real question is, is Sweeping Attack really viable at all now?

Would really help to have a "damage taken" or "damage dealt" wouldn't it?

Sure it is a good Rage generator, but if I understand the passive right, isn't it lowering all elemental damage by 20%?
Seems like Superstition would only be a good/viable passive for a Physical damage build. What am I missing?
