For Act 1, the mobs go from being level 61 at MP 0 to level 63 at MP 1. The comparison you reference in the title applies to A3-A4 only -- for A1-A2, MP1+ should be significantly harder than 1.04.

Yes. If you were facerolling act 1 but having a hard time in act 2, you might be able to farm or even faceroll act 2 now. But MP is only for those who can at least deal with MP0 act 3.
So basically for us poor folk who couldn't farm A2 as of yet in inferno (I play HC purist) we're still just as screwed as we were before MP?
Not quite, there were monster nerfs across the board, that's why act 3/4 MP1 is still easier than act 3/4 1.04. Basically MP 0 is easier for every act than it's 1.04 version, every MP1 act is easier than 1.04 act 3/4, but not necessarily act 1/2.

Non MP mobs do ~25% less damage than pre patch, so you may be able to farm A2 Inferno now, if you turn off MP. Also, they got rid of drops below level 58 in Inferno, and affixes are all rolled based on monster level, not item level, so you'll gear up much more quickly and have less chance of dying.

Act wouldn't matter, since every mob is lvl 63 in MP 1 or higher... I had a hard time with Act 3 in 1.0.4 and I find MP 1 the most reasonable difficulty.
Honestly, I found Act 3 at mp3 easier than 1.0.4. The keywarden gave me hell though, I died like 4 or 5 times from his goddamned blizzard. At 5 NV, he didn't drop the key =/
MP5 was a laugh... first time through I get phasebeasts, champ succubus and a couple of colossal golgors in the Core of Arreat staircase. Impossible for now.
If it takes you 2.5 mins to kill an elite pack, play on MP 1 or 2, the MF, GF and XP doesn't justify the HP increase. Look at the HP increase between MP levels, the increase is significant.
You shouldn't be here complaining, again, you can enjoy any act and tune the difficulty to your liking.
Just played for 3 hours doing all the acts with MP 7 with a wizard friend. Had a lot of fun and found like 8 legendary items between the 2 of us (does not include keys). One was a direct upgrade for him (1057 sky splitter with socket and int)

I played a good chunk tonight and managed to find 2 legendaries (both shit)... but i did 11 runs at MP3 and only found 1 key! (yes i had 5 NV stacks). That's really bad luck considering each kill should have a 30% chance of dropping a key.
It seems to be working fine for me. Yesterday when we went looking for the plans at MP7, the plans dropped for my wiz. friend but not for me. Up until that point; we both received keys in all 3 acts.
I did Act 4 again this morning in 15 minutes at power 5 and they did drop that time.

If you had a hard time with Act 3 in 1.04, I'd start off with MP1. If that's still too much, I'd turn off monster power and try to beat Inferno at MP0.
Just as a point of reference, I play "no AH", and I just beat inferno last week. I could easily farm Acts 1 and 2 in 1.04, and spent most of time in Act 3 (which wasn't easy-farm, but it also wasn't a constant corpse pull). I found MP3 to be way too slow going for my monk, so I dropped down to MP2. That seems just about right. The new monster health and moster damage ratios take a little getting used to, but I suspect MP2 will be my sweet spot until I get a few upgrades and try MP3 again.
It's clear by now there has been a small misunderstanding on the whole Monster Power affecting Acts 1-2 by increasing the monster lvls there from 61-62 to 63. But things should be pretty clear now.
Right now people will come to the forums, read the thread title and be confused about it.

The mobs are level 63, not 61 anymore, act 3+4 1.0.4 should be around same difficulty as MP 2-3.
If you want same difficulty as before then the closest you will get is without monster power for that act.
Seems like the wait was for nothing.
Gear is going to deflate pretty soon, so as long as you use the AH, you should be playing with MP before long.
EDIT: I don't buy from the Auction House either.
