I've been toying with a new build that I've found to be insanely fun and guess what, it doesn't include force armor, blizzard or temporal flux! Rather than being a glass cannon kiting build or a full tank melee build, this one's somewhere in the middle as a wiz that can take a few hits. It's been working pretty damn well in A1 inferno but I'm not geared the way I would like so I wanted to run it by you guys before gearing for it. Here goes:
Electrocute - Forked Lightning
Arcane Orb - Tap the Source
Hydra - Lightning Hydra
Diamond Skin - Crystal Shell
Magic Weapon - Force Weapon
Storm Armor - Scramble
Paralysis
Galvanizing Ward (or Critical Mass if you fancy)
Blur
Jist of the build - 1h + shield, high crit, and rely on scramble + diamond skin + paralysis to kite/survive, fire off AO while kiting. Forked lightning + high crit is crazy with the number of bolts that are triggered and jacks up your chances of paralysis as well as AP on crit. Lightning hydra has its own perks as well such as the long range, instant hit and ability to stop annoying monsters like A1 frogs and A2 wasps dead in their tracks. I have pretty good resists and decent damage but what's missing in my eyes from my gear to maximize this is LoH and some extra movement speed (currently just 12% from boots). Scramble has been amazing when kiting and I just find it to be a lot more fun than slowing the enemy with blizz/temporal flux, so I'd like to get some hammer jammers or something to help with that.
What do you guys think? Worth buying LoH/MS gear for or are there any big holes I'm missing?
edit: oh and one other small perk... reflect damage packs = 100% up time on scramble
I think u might need energy armor for later acts, other than that u might want to use electrify rune with magic weapon instead of force weapon for more paralysis procs?
Another obvious build that hasn't been unearthed due to a lack of available gear. %paralyze/stun/blind/immobilize or whatever stacked on your 8% freebie means a really effective lockdown at around 15%...
Will defo try this when I get home ... can see this working ! maybe get gear with int vit and chance to stun on or something ? stack that will see
It's just going to be too effective. It's the most effective build options for WD's due to a skill caveat that needs to be nerfed where Rain of Toads has like 8 ticks a second or some bullshit and around 10% it become a permanent lockdown.
Don't get me wrong, WD's need some buffs first though.
Didn't even think of % CC on hit gear... good call! So far this build has been working surprisingly well, I thought not having energy armor would make it ineffective. Then again, I'm only in A1.
Regarding the electrify rune... I don't know how often it procs but I tried this originally along with the storm armor shocking aspect rune and couldn't tell much of a difference. I'll have to test it some more, but they need to add a more visible indicator of when it procs lol.
I tried this build a while ago and I can tell you it does not work well. The spell coefficient on Electrocute is really low at 16.7%, so there is only 16.7%*8% chance to trigger a stun.

what about for piercing orb and lightning hydra? where did u find those spell coefficients?

Blizzard confirmed that Life On Hit Coefficient are also used for those "Hits have a chance to" effects (Critical Mass, Electrify, Shocking Aspect). Not that those coefficients are per target hit.
Hydras having a 0% coefficient is pretty weird imo.
