posted a message on Fun Physical/Poison Hybrid
So I generally like pet builds but always thought it wasn't SUPER fun to basically sit on the sidelines generating fetish sycophants and doing little damage myself. I've been playing with builds and found one I think pretty damn fun but wanted to see if anyone had suggestions on gear to aim for. Here's the jist of the build:

    SKILLS
    - Plague of Toads (Rain of Toads) - generate munchkins
    - Wall of Zombies (Offensive Line) - knockback + Strongarm bracer debuff
    - Piranhas (Wave of Mutilation) - decent AOE + debuff
    - Locust Swarm (Pestilence) - poison damage + CC from Hwoj
    - Gargantuan (Big Stinker) - beefcake that benefits from both psn/physical
    - Zombie Dogs (Rabid Dogs) - TMF + psn/physical damage

    PASSIVES
    - Zombie Handler - +1 dog and 20% health
    - Grave Injustice - for spamming Piranhas and WoZ, works amazingly with Thing of The Deep
    - Pierce the Veil - no explanation needed
    - Fetish Sycophants - lil' cuties

    KEY ITEMS (so far)
    - MoJ - dat pet dmg
    - Hwoj Wrap - 80% slow with pestilence
    - TMF - big dawg
    - Strongarm Bracers - knockback from WoZ = <3
    - TnT - don't have these yet but know I need them
    - Thing of The Deep - can't let this go... passive is amazing and works so well with grave injustice. Alternative is uhkapian serpent but not as fun IMO.

Aside from that, just going for physical, poison and elite damage. Currently at +37% poison, +55% physical and +30% elite damage.

General play style is to cast pestilence on the closest monster to slow 80%, knockback/group together with WoZ, cast Piranhas to double up on debuffs and do some damage, then frog them to death and cast Piranhas whenever available. Survivability comes from CC and Thing of The Deep.

My profile is http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/hekate-1734/hero/42522977. I've been relatively unlucky with drops/rolls so I know it needs work, any suggestions for gear after TnT is appreciated. Currently running T3 at a pretty solid speed. Suggestions on the build also welcome but honestly it's so much fun as is I probably won't change :). Thanks!!

I was actually using burning dog with Tall Man's Finger before the patch. It was basically a meat shield that did no damage. Since the patch, it's been critting for 40-50 mil and the aura melts everything. That's with about 33% physical damage, 40% fire damage and MoJ.

posted a message on Maximizing dot damage
Does weapon speed have an impact on LS and haunt? I wasn't able to find any details anywhere...

Basically I'm wondering if slower weapons = higher damage dots before I start playing with it. Currently I'm at:

    650k dps
    1.88 attacks per second
    45% crit
    334% crit hit dmg

I haven't been 70 for long so i'm just now getting to the point where i'm targeting stats but the mechanics aren't so easy to find... any suggestions for maximizing LS/haunt damage?

Didn't even think of % CC on hit gear... good call! So far this build has been working surprisingly well, I thought not having energy armor would make it ineffective. Then again, I'm only in A1.

Regarding the electrify rune... I don't know how often it procs but I tried this originally along with the storm armor shocking aspect rune and couldn't tell much of a difference. I'll have to test it some more, but they need to add a more visible indicator of when it procs lol.

posted a message on Build Idea - Lightning Wiz
I've been toying with a new build that I've found to be insanely fun and guess what, it doesn't include force armor, blizzard or temporal flux! Rather than being a glass cannon kiting build or a full tank melee build, this one's somewhere in the middle as a wiz that can take a few hits. It's been working pretty damn well in A1 inferno but I'm not geared the way I would like so I wanted to run it by you guys before gearing for it. Here goes:

    Electrocute - Forked Lightning
Arcane Orb - Tap the Source
    Hydra - Lightning Hydra
    Diamond Skin - Crystal Shell
    Magic Weapon - Force Weapon
    Storm Armor - Scramble

    Paralysis
Galvanizing Ward (or Critical Mass if you fancy)
    Blur

Jist of the build - 1h + shield, high crit, and rely on scramble + diamond skin + paralysis to kite/survive, fire off AO while kiting. Forked lightning + high crit is crazy with the number of bolts that are triggered and jacks up your chances of paralysis as well as AP on crit. Lightning hydra has its own perks as well such as the long range, instant hit and ability to stop annoying monsters like A1 frogs and A2 wasps dead in their tracks. I have pretty good resists and decent damage but what's missing in my eyes from my gear to maximize this is LoH and some extra movement speed (currently just 12% from boots). Scramble has been amazing when kiting and I just find it to be a lot more fun than slowing the enemy with blizz/temporal flux, so I'd like to get some hammer jammers or something to help with that.

What do you guys think? Worth buying LoH/MS gear for or are there any big holes I'm missing?

edit: oh and one other small perk... reflect damage packs = 100% up time on scramble

posted a message on electrocute -> Chain Lightning?
I'm a fan of electrocute with crit builds/procs. Forked lighting seemed pretty terrible when I first got it back in normal but now that I'm in inferno with 35% crit, it's really nice. Spamming 3 hits each with a 35% chance to proc four 46% weapon damage bolts = blown up stuff. I think the downside of electrocute is that the weapon damage is a little lackluster against single targets/elites. Kiting + charged blast > kiting + electrocute imo.

MM has better single target damage and orb has better aoe damage and can pierce through large groups. I do still think electrocute is underrated though.
