Well patch 2.2 is most probably coming with S3 but I was talking about the ptr They said the ptr is coming soon.
Well, PTR usually only lasts for about 1~2 months, considering this will be kinda big, I'm going with 2 months. Season 2 should go to about August, if they aim for a 6 month Season. That means that PTR should start in late May, early Jun.
Let's remember that S1 was 5 months and that was considered to be far too long, by players and blues.

And to the current issue. It would be nice to see variability groups like instead two DH will be one plus wiz and with barbar and monk in center of the battle. And i'm not talking about M6 DH cuz i don't like M6 (but still it's only viable build and that's problem). I will look to for the news about from PTR with fingers crossed to change stereotypes in this game.
I'm not sure it'll be DPS competitive with an M6 DH, as I think it will be balanced around the fact that it has some CC capability. If the set is similar to how it was a BlizzCon, with the slow time wand and the helm from Blizz con, you will be able to spam the screen with bubbles, which will stun and then slow enemies. With that utility, I doubt it'll be balanced to do as much damage as M6.
It could be that the changes to Tal Rasha's though, will make the Wizard DPS competitive with M6 DH's. Giving them a build that has utility and a build that does damage.

Well, all Runes is out of the question, too much conflicting. Reduction of cost, like Monk, is possible, stacking with Cindercoat would allow us to spam it. Maybe something like if 5 or more enemies are hit by AO, refund cost? That would be interesting, although useless for Boss.
Reduction of cost would suck imo, mm would still be much better (100% reduction is better than any other value;D ). What would you say about 'arcane orb deals up to 100% (or even more) increased damage based on the distance travelled' legendary power? It would require good positioning, would compliment each other nicely with Zeis Stone, and would actually make the spell viable in terms of dmg output when combined with delseres.

True about using all runes. I was thinking of something possibly like vile wards do for charge, where the damage increases for enemies hit. Wouldn't be great for guardians/single targets, but would be fun for super AOE.
Alternatively, something like Liquirius suggested, and have it scale based on distance travelled. Which creates an interesting positioning meta.
Basically, it just needs something that makes it worth the large cost in AP. I wouldn't be totally opposed to something like the monk torch, but I think they can come up with something more interesting.
Magic missile is only good for single target, so it kinda sucks for large packs (which is the biggest part of the game). It could potentially be better than arcane orb on boss, but you don't care because you it will be a regen skill, just like Evasive Fire [focus] on DH atm.
You will be able to do a lot of AO before being out of arcane power (more than cluster arrow right now), and if I believe your math, it will hit around 500million easily with a comp like WD+DH+zdps cruz+wiz...
Mammoth hydra being so grossly overpowered compared to other runes, and the item support of cindercoat/magefists ensure that fire will be the goto spec.
Also, just a little something. I remember a long time ago, before 2.1, there was a Data Mine and it showed a Unique Ring string that gave All Armor (Ice, Thunder, Arcane), and another one that said it gave your Armor to all allies. Wonder if that will be one of the new legendary uniques?
When they introduced new set i was looking it only for 5 sec and i said MM patch..damn i really hope this won't be the case..they really should buff arcane orb and make an item for it.

Actually I thought about it and it does not look that way. The rune we want the most on our slow time is probably casting it wherever we want. So the additional benefits of that helmet are: 3s lower cd, 80% slow instead of 60%, 10% more dmg taken by enemies, 3s (!!!) stun whenever an enemy enters or leaves the bubble and 10% as increase for ppl inside it. If you can manage to stand inside one bubble and shoot to monsters in another, the as+dmg taken buffs are better than 20% fire increase (right now cindercoats reduction does not do anything as we won't be using arcane power, this will hopefully change), you already have 20 from sojand maybe 20 from devastator which along with the sunkeeper are looking like bis weapons for mm fire build right now, so it actually is a 14% dmg increase and it probably won't work on the 1250/s bubble dmg (which is not that high but still it's some damage). I'm not saying the helmet will be absolute bis and nothing can even compare but right now I would not use magefist or cindercoat, which are the best fire items and I found very good ones, instead of it with delsere. The added utility is too much. Well, we have to wait for the ptr anyway ^^

So what is max dps potencial of set ? First numbers were about 10000 % /s but looks like with hydra is more.. I still doubt its enuff to replace DH.
