The monk will be my first char, i like the skills i saw from beta footages and i think their are a lot of opertunities to make sick builds and use complicated strategies.
And i always love playing Holy Warriors in RPGs, as they tend to be flexible ^^
When I first thought about it I was looking forward to playing the Demon Hunter as my first character. However, after further review of articles, builds, videos, and finally a playthrough with the monk, I am confident that I will roll him first. There is something about dashing into a group of mobs, Blinding the whole group, and melting face with "Fists of Thunder" with the first skill rune applied to provide chain lighting effects. Aside from the cool fighting style the monk provides, I have always been a fan of group utility and he brings alot of that to the table. I was very used to playing a pally in WOW and D2 before and this is as close as I can get. I am certainly considering playing the wizard as my second character once my monk is maxed out.
Many players that consider playing a Monk must consider many doubts, yes my faithful fellows doubts that are for example those listed below:
- Sure Wizard makes the best dps with less survivability enough though which allows him to sustain alive, Cool stuff don't You think ?
- Yes indeed Barbarian is so overpowered with brute force - but does this always find a way out of the situation ? If you have doubts to this how narrator is thinking "There is never something like too much power when it comes about barbarian in DIII" Monk might work out for You
But wait !
Sure those health globes are cool:
Yet still brute force is not enough for the true Monks.
- If You think that perhaps dps is what will always works out for you try Demon Hunter and stick with it but what about the melee ?
- Perhaps Witch Doctor could solve this - yes they have nice aoe damage but what if they will fail in their role?
Here comes Monks - Guardians and Justice in all its pure form. If you want to adapt to the battlefield, Find it great addictive stuff of the feeling that You' re saving all the party ass while beneficing from this party, Having fun whenever You want with massive dps/ healing/ dodge - Take a Monk. But at least please make it worth of Your pick.
I will be playing Monk to secure my teammates of a long and happy slaughtering even on inferno mode, And when the boring comes going to play single mode with solo build dps/dodge/armor + passive healing just to stress out some of teammates failures and stupidity.
There is no mistake in this class ladies and gentlemen this class is reserved for people that fell the spirit of cooperation and sometimes want to rage alone without changing class on someone else.
In my opinion this is second after wizard best dps that can be found in Diablo 3 If You make his build so.Third one is Barbarian but it is just a small difference just a little one between You as a future monk and a Barbarian with survivability.
Thats why I will be playing Monk. And I expect nothing less from players that will play this character - otherwise they will fail and be marked by the rest of the group - "Monk You sucks!"
Many players after playing their favorite characters will feel lust for something more and that lust/hunger can only be satisfied by the bearded man that fallows path of Ytar or a women with white hair with similar faith.
Just for the record I'm not the fanatic of Monk I took many nights to make different build but every time i ended with the feeling "I need some melee" which would lead to conclusion I need a Monk,
Monk it will be! i've always loved hybrid classes which can equally heal deal dmg and maybe tank a little so hes the right choice i think.
After my Paladin in wow this seems to be the closest choice
Besides my friends want to play Dh barbarian and sorcer so im a good match
Monk may be my 1st/Main character. First I was thinking about Witch Doctor. But then it turned out that WD will have 2 basic resources from first Diablo - Health and Mana. So unfair, in my opinion. Then I saw Monk's gameplay and I love it. Monk seems to me as very dynamic death dealer so I will probably go for it.
Really unsure between monk and wizzard still. Need to get myself into the beta so that i am able to try them both out and see which is the most fun. If only i had done this with wow i would not of started leveling the wrong char (god damn hunters!)
I think I will be progressing one range one melee same time. Though in my case it is gonna be probably barb for melee and wizard/dh for range. I will go with monk only if I can stand playing that not to well done female character (I dislike her seriousness. Does not mix well with her accent for me). If I had to decide about one character to play it would probably be wizard as I like her and that she can be melee and range. It's so cool to go range for aoe and melee on bosses But with recent videos of DH (beta 13) and looking at her strafe/multishot ability with good long range vault (with improved path-finding) and possibility of having knockback as an weapon affix I think I may even go with DH. Though I like wizard character more (it goes perfectly with her funny thin voice).
Though I dont have the beta, I know that the Monk is going to be my frist character. I am crazy about his speed and swiftness :-)
I have always loved melee characters, and the monk is extremely appealing.
I also think, that it will be hard to play the monk in endgame, inferno. A light armor melee class can be tough, but I think the trick will be dodge. A lot of the monks skills favor dogde, which will be a primary factor to survive in inferno! :-)
Monk is definitely going to be my first character. He reminds me of a healing/dps character which is the style of plat that I love. With the mantras and a few select passives, you can play like a boss.
No doubt about it. Monk has remained the most interesting character for me since I started following all the updates about Diablo III. I have always been interested in martial arts and I've practised it myself too. Could there be a better charcter for someone who loves martial arts and the samurai philosophy?
I'm debating between Monk and Witch Doctor. I played monk classes in several games before so I tend to like their style, specially way back when I played EQ but I'm starting to think I need to branch out more. After watching the couple of rune videos from the monk though it got a bit harder too.
Hellfire was so crazy. Another company making the expansion for what is now a AAA title just sort of boggles the mind, unless the companies are both owned by another one. That said, it was still pretty exciting to play. I'm probably going to have monk be my character that gets all the items handed down from my DH.
Edit: I really doubt any of the classes will be really bad.. Even if they were, in classic Blizzard balancing fashion, things that are extremely weak are the next things to be way too powerful.
