Howdy folks, I've been having a bit of a difficult time deciding which I like better. A lot of people have been saying vault all day because it gets you out of trouble but I find SS to have a very good ability to just drop aggro and heal 15% life. That's of course with the healing vapors rune.
What do you all prefer? I hope this can maybe shed some light as I looked back a page and couldn't find any threads about it so I decided to make one.
Do people truly like setting up a nest of strategic sentry's and kiting back or do you like to keep moving forward and placing them as you go?
I usually go with vault for T6 / lower grifts, and SS for higher ones. I could see people going vault all the time though.
Pretty sure the whole "kiting back to sentries" thing everyone always says is a massive waste of time/impossible unless you get super high density rifts. Most rifts, in my experience, there is far too much space in between enemies to actually gain time in doing it. In addition, a number of enemy types are not cooperative at all in following you. It only works if every pack (white or elite) you kill literally has one right behind it, so you just slowly inch your sentry pack forwards while also running a little bit forward to coax enemies into them. But again if there's just too much space, then you're running all the way up to grab mobs, then all the way back, then all the way back up once they die again... it just isn't practical, in like, 90% of rifts in my experience.
Shadow Power with Shadow glide rune beats vault in terms of distance running. And since it has a duration, you will recover some of the discipline in between. You can try and see this in a group with another DH using vault. Besides you get some handy LoH other than a flat mobility feature, if you are playing with an active build. But vault might help you break out of "some" movement impairing effects although not 100% reliable. Frequently terrain can be covered with dangerous stuff and I suppose vault is the best means of moving out of shit, but you tend to spam it a few times mostly, which drains your discipline real fast. If you are using other disciplinary abilities, it is a problem.
smokescreen with 15 % healing for higher greater rifts
I have to agree with this, except I'm lazy and just leave SS with healing loaded full time. It's great for survivability, dropping aggro, getting outta crap in general and the heal, while only 15% has saved my ass way more than I could ever count. And I used to be a vault junkie.
Side note: I also use the Kool Aid bottomless potion.
SS cost too much discipline, and in higher rifts things that should be killing you usually 1shot you, so SS with healing rune just feels useless to me, and ofc, ur templar heals a lot already.
vault/tumble gives me imunity and mobility, and cost less disc.
As I figured some people would prefer different things. Thank you all for posting. I think I might stick with SS-Vapors simply because that works with my style of play.
I use Vault, personally I can't really see any situation where SS would outperform Vault unless you're using M.bolts build. Vault has an invincible frame like combat rolling in Dark Souls; once you can abuse that Vault > SS all day unless you're mbolts.
I personally like SS with Healing Vapors better than Vault. I tend to vault more than I need to so I go through discipline a lot more. With SS i dont tend to do that. I get away from mobs with SS just as easy + I get healed so that works better for me. Everyone is different. Play with what you like best.
