i put the initial install disc into my new computer and nothing happens. no automatic menu...no method that i know of to view it in my computer. it seems i cant pull any cds (music or other games) from my drive. any help on how to make it run to download??
im looking for the install menu to come up or anything of the sort so i can install the game. i cant figure out how to make it come up so i can play. when i put the cd in its as if i never did. no automatic menu pops up. nothing on the drive
the disc is clean. got it when it first came out, have downloaded it on previous computers before, always had xp tho. but it always came up on its own. idk how to view it using windows explorer or how to enable the auto run. i went to my computer to access the cd drive but nothing comes up. i dont know if just opening my computer allows access to the cd drive or if i have to go somewhere else to access it
it doesnt read music cds either. ive tried uploading music cds into windows media player and it doesnt find them. i cant find diablo in my computer either...
theres no cd drive at all in my computer. i went to the microsoft link and the only help they can offer is if i pay $50 for it. i went through the troubleshooting and its saying a cd, dvd, or bd drive was not detected. idk how to make it detect it. i dont have an external hard drive or anything. the desktop came with a dell intel core duo processor. only had it bout a month. dont even think ive used the cd drive before which is probly y this problem is only now coming up. any helpful hints please lemme know. im gettin desperate
when i open my computer all i c is hard disk drives (1) and below it is other (1) which is empty when i open it but has a logo on the folder for my antivirus software
Since if I read correctly you say that your computer is not reading your CD drive at all?
You probably need a driver for it. Check this by doing:
-Start
-Control Panel
-System
-Device Manager
If under your CD section it has a ! on it then you need a driver for your CD reader.
i expanded all the sections available which seemed to cover the entire computer from the monitor to the processor to the mouse. nothing had ! on it. if ur sayin i need a driver for the CD reader, why wouldnt the computer already come set up for all that? i mean, if its a brand new computer, why wouldnt it already come set up to play games or listen to music? if i do need to set it up, how do i go about doing it?
The issue you are experiencing is a corruption with the registry and the drivers for the cd rom drive.
Likely iTunes or some other cd burning software caused the issue. I dealt with this issue almost everyday in a call center for home pc. I was not there when windows 7 came.
Remove and reinstall drivers
If the drive is not listed, remove and reinstall the existing drivers. To do this, follow these steps: Windows 7
Click StartCollapse this imageExpand this image
, and then click Control Panel.
Click System and Security, click System, and then click Device Manager.
Note If Control Panel is in Classic View, double-click System, and then click Device Manager.
Collapse this imageExpand this image
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.
In Device Manager, expand DVD/CD-ROM drives, right-click the CD and DVD devices, and then click Uninstall.
When you are prompted to confirm that you want to remove the device, click OK.
Restart the computer.
After the computer restarts, the drivers will be automatically installed
We are likely going to need to find the registry setting to fix it. I will see about finding it for windows 7. The settings are there in the link I gave earlier for XP and Vista.
I am looking to see if the location to delete the upper and lower filters the same as in Vista. I do not have Windows 7 to check it out.
The OP can also contact the tech support. It should only take a few minutes to fix the issue. I think that it is 99% likelihood it is the upper and lower filter got corrupt for the cd rom drive.

did install iTunes at anytime. That program is famous for causing the cd drive not to work.

It looks like the information for the location on the keys are in the same spot.
I will post a link from the forum for Microsoft Answers.
