After spending a few days in the forums I can finally say with a smile on my face - Blizzard was right all this time! They said that they will never be able to satisfy everybody's Q_Q and they turned out to be right...
At first players said Diablo 3 was way too easy and there were these huge discussions about it as well.
Then when the game came out everybody (forgetting what Diablo 2 was like) started saying that the game was very short! Even though it has LOADS more content and story-telling than Diablo 2.
And now it has come to the whining of people saying that the game is TOO HARD.
I realized that no matter what, there will always be unhappy people. It's just funny how they whine in both directions (first it was too easy, now it's too hard)
What I know for certain is that all those whining kids came from a different fan base of Blizzard - from WoW mainly (and also SC). So many people forgot what Diablo was about.
Truth is - Diablo is a brilliant game, which is fuckin worthy to be the fastest selling game in history.
To everybody reading this and hating on my opinion - I wanna tell you - be patient, Blizz will implement the needed fixes to the game.
So, now if you excuse me, I'll go kill of some demons.
honestly you're right the game is great, but it falls flat on it's face in balance. Classes need vit to survive, and are forced to take survivability skills to even attempts A2 inferno. That's a big no no, second Itemization sucks right now. Legendaries are worse than rares, and white's and magics can come close too. It's pretty sad actually. I want to look like a badass and have useable equipment. If that's too much to ask for then there's a problem. As long as they balance the classes and difficulties, then touch up on some itemization problems the game will be #1 in a lot more people's eyes.

You seem to assume that because you subjectively dislike something it is therefore objectively bad.
This is not the way the world works.

Dear god, this is exactly how Inferno should be. You should have to take most of your survival skills. It is INFERNO. You're not going to be able to stand around and spam your AoE spells anymore.
I thoughtthe p[oint of Diablo was to find awesome loot use it and use what skills you wanted to be the best. FORCING you to take a skill is a bad design and something the Blizzard team acknowledges and is going to fix. It's the main problem. Getting a rare with 100 vit isn't going to cut it. You need more, And thus you sacrifice damage and protection sometimes, which isn't all bad, but forcing me to use Energy armor, and Forcing me to use teleport, and forcing me to use magic weapon or familiar, or mirror image or all of them is a terrible choice. You can't do anything offensively because well you need to be all defense or youll easily be one shotted. Now I'm not saying it's impossible but there needs to be a better balance of class stats plus vit, right now all you want is vit. If it doesn't have enough vit throw it away no matter how much damage or armor it'll give you. If it doesn't have resist than throw it away. that's the problem I don't want to be forced into some stupid All Vit build just to clear the act. This isn't Diablo 2 i shouldn't need all vit to play.

This is a combination of misconceptions.
Misconception 1) you're supposed to be able to use any skill and be effective.
The truth: the design intent is for there to be more than one successful build or one MUST HAVE skill. Big difference.
Misconception 2) Inferno is for everyone.
The truth: inferno is for people who want the experience of having a seemingly insurmountable obstacle to overcome through a combination of long term farming, theory-crafting and honed strategy/tactics.
Misconception 3) you have somehow identified a design flaw that Blizzard has promised a fix for.
The truth: wherever you got that idea from, it wasn't a valid source.

"Before we get there though we want to address the skills that are 'must haves', and see how the skill and gear game settles out a bit before we address content."
Hello front page news.
You seem to be inferring something out of that quote that isn't there. The point is simple: different defensive skills should be roughly about as valuable as each other. There should not be one skill that is must have.
That doesn't mean you're meant to not have to use any defensive skills.
Enty was literally saying that needing to use any defensive skills was bad design.

I agree with most of what you say, except that I find your "knowledge" of where the referenced part of the fanbase came from presumptive. Your argument would have been more mature without that reference.

Really cause its true... Blizzard is a big business, WOW is its money maker consitently, its obvious whom their gearing to please. its actually a really simple economic concept. Please your primary target consumer. Blizzards primary target consumers are WOW players.

Quoted again and t his time underlined where you are wrong.
Read Enty's series of posts. Enty was referring to being forced to take defensive powers in the first place.
I get it. You cherry picked sentences out of context that seem like i'm making the opposite point from what I'm saying, but you're giving Enty credit for a semantically accurate, but contextually off-target point.

I'm just going to sit back and laugh because that's not what I said at all! AT ALL! I said HAVING A SINGLE MUST HAVE SKILL IS A FORCE I DON'T WANT. Hell i use familiar magic weapon and mirror image, but in order to viably go through inferno I NEED ENERGY ARMOR, Not storm armor, or ice armor, ENERGY ARMOR. That is stupid, That is a design flaw, that is the epitome of the faults of this game. If I have to use a single specific skill to be viable then they have failed at designing a system that allows for many viable builds. I never said don't use defensive abilities, That's a given. But to have to use a single specific skill and sacrifice stats for survivability sucks. I'm not saying make it so i never need Vit either, I'm saying there needs to be a better balance cause right now ALL you want is vit and Resistance, Without it then you can't do anything. There needs to be a balance where stacking int and vit almost equally will give you good survivability. Secluding yourself to a single attribute sucks and isn't good at all. And read the front page he said they're fixing how you absolutely need a certain spell or two to go through inferno, they want you to be able to use any defensive spell and have it viable, but the fact you had to use specific ones is a flaw, one they're currently addressing.

I fail to understand why forcing players to take survivability skills to tackle the hardest difficulty is a bad thing.
Sorry that was actually very unclear from your original series of posts, and writing style.
I retract my comments, and if you read my posts, agree with the design intent you're describing.

Because If I'm forced to take Energy armor over ice or storm armor, or another defensive ability, because Energy armor is just ultimately superior in every way then they're forcing me to take something I don't want. I expect to be able touse storm armor or ice armor, and get good results too. But the fact is you can't. You need Energy armor. Needing specific skills is bad, needing general defensive abilities is fine.
Sorry about not being as clear as I should've been. But yeah you get my point It's dumb to need a single specific skill to be viable. That's why I think this game still needs some more "fine tuning".

There certainly should be parts where ice armor may be worse than storm or energy, but it should never ever get to a point where I HAVE to switch my skills. That's just bad.

But you never HAVE to.
For me part of the fun of the game is trying out new skill/rune combinations for different things that are tossed at me, and finding something that works. I'm not yet into Inferno, so maybe it changes there, but I've not yet felt at all that only a single skill/rune combo was the only thing that could possibly work.
The bottom line here is that Blizzard has admitted some abilities are out of line and will be balancing those before they do any nerfs to Inferno. We all want the same thing guys and most of you are saying the same thing just different ways of saying it. Its all good! They got it. They have the hotfix and a patch following soon* after.
On a side note to the guy who is demanding attention to his point that there is less story in D3 than D2. Just go back under your bridge. Its not even CLOSE. Its not even remotely in the same AREA. Its literally like comparing Call of Duty to Skyrim. I listened and talked to every NPC in the game in D2. Some had some interesting stuff to say. It was cool how different NPC's interacted with one character class or another. But really there was more content and story in act 1 of D3 than all of D2. So many random events, so many conversations that pop up at different times, so many books, so many bits of lore throughout.... Truly you have not explored hardly anything if you believe D2 had more story than D3.
Remember when Blizzard told us they removed manual stat allocation because everyone would put most poins on Vit? Funny how this turned out...
They never said you didn't need Vit. They removed it from being a character stat you can pump cos it was a given that going to hell you need to pump Vit.
The difference being it is now a gear choice or requirement just like + Resist gear was a requirement in D2. In Hell you had -100 resist so you NEEDED the resistance gear.
Also @Enty, Blizzard has hotfixed the Wizard's Energy Armor rune that many were using cos it was an exploit. This is Diablo, we fully expect skills to undergo balance changes. You're expected to farm better equipment to advance not rely on 1 skill.
Are there problems with itemization? Yes, but they will patch it up. For heavens sake D2 had tons of skill balance issues + gear issues + itemization issues + Hireling issues etc. Stop looking at it with rose tinted glasses. The D2 you play today had over 13 patches many of which had tons of balance, item, difficulty changes and many were pretty major.
+1 to the OP for having a level head and actually contributing to the community.
