Whats all this May business, lets all push for the 17th of April.
Keep in mind I'm more then prepared for the fact that the 17th is not going to happening, but from Jay's tweet I have a shred of hope. They have flatout refused all previous rumours before this one, now they "Cannot Debunk" means it may just be correct.
Tomorrow blizzard announces D3 to be released on 1 may. *Crosses Fingers*
other than that being a sunday, I would be pleased with very evry very early may. I still had hopes for apirl (not the 17th) late apirl, but we would have to get the date 100% for sure tomorrow for me to feel safe with that still
it will eb april matey, remeber the stuff they took out to implement in a later date, half the stuff they took out could have stayed in and got it fixed if it comes out in may
thats 5 months after they took suff out
yea i dont see it being more then ~5 weeks from the announcement to release because theres really nothing left to do but advertise since they cut so much shit awhile ago.
They still have a few things for us to test:

@norcalbear84 We'll probably have a few updates we'll want to make sure we get public testing on.
I would normally agree with you but there is one word that makes me think twice. Probably isn't a confirmation so it could mean that they will wait till release to see if the things need to be fixed. And these updates could easily be bug fixes or balancing changes. That, in my opinion, wont affect the release window at all.

I don't always burn. But when I do, I use hellfire.
I have more reason to think the 17th could be true, after some research.
Bart Smit, a retailer here in the Netherlands a few weeks ago posted april 19th. That's thursday, normally the day we get new games here. Blizzard games are typically the exception though and release on tuesdays. HOWEVER, this is not true for all retailers. I've experienced this one first hand.
I went to buy SC2 at a normal retailer and they didn't have it, yet some other random store did so apparently some do go with the worldwide Tuesdays while others (for unknown reasons) don't. Bart Smit is a pretty plain toy store so it wouldn't surprise me if they're not getting it on the world street date.
As a cherry on top, the retailer I usually visit nowadays has also set their date for April, though no day. What's interesting though is that from my experience they usually don't follow dates from rumors, and if they do, they are very slow to pick up on them. Offical data though they're very quick with. They were at least before me in finding out about Twisted Metal (EU) and Batman AC (Pc version) getting delayed.
I honestly hate myself for believing the April date because I've had my money on May for quite a long time now: ever since the delay was announced last year actually. But damn are there some fingers pointing that way. At least from my perspective.
I even dreamed the announced release date was today and that it would come out March 28th. It sucked to wake up! lol
I'm gonna go out on a rant here about how I feel about the whole Diablo 3 release/beta/final shipping/servers and maintenance. Its random. But bare with me...
When Bashiok flew up to the EU last month he was carrying the server files with him. End of story. Shortly after he was there the eu beta server went live. Plus it makes more sense to send ur most trusted CM with an external HDD than to courier it there (case in point: the alleged leak of release dates via the italian branch).
Those server files are the most important asset blizz currently has in their D3 arsenal- and once the shipping-ready files are installed (which I'm sure they have been in the US and EU) they're easily patchable should things change pre-launch, the important thing is the bulk of the source code has been installed on all servers) but this is just a frivolous fact I'm pointing out.
I've seen a few threads heckling the beta badly and I feel I can comment on them here because the correlation behind those negative threads are that the game is not ready to ship.
I call BS on those threads simply cuz mr. Wilson said the beta as we know it is in "good" shape, but the game is in a great one. I'm goin to point out now that I believe that the final gameplay experience is goin to be far more superior to that of the beta on a balance and polished level. Sc 2 also looked and played differently to final builds.
So, bearing the above in mind, the GDC will be the best place to announce the release date. Because as u can see by just doing a google search, other heavyweights are also rumoured to be punting new things (eg valve's "steam box").
One more thing: the fact that april 17 is listed by retailers hasn't been proven to have leaked from wherever they say it did. It could be retailers fuelling hype to get some numbers in. If Jay is as smart as he should be in such a position, garnering such positive hype by not confirming or denying the april 17 release date has proven to put everyone on their toes.
All I'm saying is, don't put too much weight into either an announcement or a april 17 confirmation in this week.
Sorry for double posting, working from a phone here!!:: concerning my last line, "don't put ur heart on a definitive announcement regarding either"... We have had enough reason to believe it will be this week. If it is or isn't, its still very very close I believe (now).
I've just cutted my fingernails and when i cliped the second nail it flew away and hit the calendar on the wall making hole at April 19.. THIS HAVE TO MEAN SMTH !
Ok guys,no need to wonder about the release date anymore...i just brutaly murdered my cat pulled out its entrails on the kitchen table and the answer was revealed. The large intestine coupled with the slight yellowing of the liver definately shows an April 17th release date...trust me
Please dont try this at home without the permision of an adult.

Thank you for sacrificing your own cat for this divination. April 17th it is!

Did you seriously believe that ? There is far better solution than send a CM (which work is not deploying version) carry an external HDD with diablo source ? omg why not sending the sourcecode by mail ?
Deployment is not handle in either of these way, sorry to bother
Actually, I heard all future discourse and data transfers to the EU will be done by Morse Code. Sorry guys. but:
No way it will be so ''soon'', i wouldn't count on anything 2 months before release date and since we still don't have that it's best possible / optimistic opinion to be something in begining of may which is also really hard, what we can hope for is that it will be something in Jun and that it doesn't get delayed again, but April, come on, it's march already, lets be at least a little realistic.
I agree that April seems waaaay too early, especially given that they've said they'd post a release date 2 months ahead of the release. What about Jay's tweet that can't debunk or confirm the Italian website's date, though? Also, beta patch 13 was pushed on the 18th of February, and if Blizzard released that patch knowing that it'd be the last one, it's possible that they've already started pressing DVDs.
They've mentioned in the past that they want to run the release the same as WoW's Cataclysm, which allowed players to download the client so they could run it when it launched at midnight. This would allow for last-minute, minor patches to be applied as well, so if the game's 98% done at the moment, that could be a way of getting out that last 2% without making the fan base wait for manufacturing time. As far as printing boxes/box art goes, that's probably been finished for months.
So, IF (and that's a big IF, keep in mind) some or all of the outlined scenario is true, April 17th or shortly thereafter could still be a viable possibility. Again though, the only reason I'm personally compelled to engage in this much speculation is Jay's mysterious tweet... they've been so quick about crushing release date rumors in the past, so why not "debunk" this one...?

i would choose my own religion and worship my own spirit, but if he ever preached to me i wouldn't want to hear it. i'd drop him, a forgotten god, languishing in shame; and then if i hit stormy seas, i'd have myself to blame.
seems like there is a lot of hype around a blizzard announcement and the same week theres the apple ipad 3 announcement, would be cool if d3 would be on ipad.... most unlikely though.
Maybe I just being hopefull, but I do not like the argument "blizzard said they post a release date 2 months ahead of time". They have told us many things that they have changed their minds about. So I'd like to think April 17th is a viable date.
9:00 am PST has come and gone.. does anyone remeber when the press release hit for Cata or SC2? I know they were both on Mondays, but what about the time of day?

I'm sure we'll see a release date this week (GDC and CEbit)... Anyone wanna phone around SF to see which hotel JW is stayin in?
Exactly where my mind is. I know I am getting up the hopes, but man, why taunt us with that 9 if it is not today!
