Our time, your time, local time.. When did people stop using GMT +- ?
why would you use gmt in this case.. theres only two times.. your time..and blizzards time which is PST. Everyone knows their own time... and almost everyone on these forums knows blizzards time compared to their own.
Nah Molsterr, there's still a huge gap since us EU players live with the French servers. So we only know GMT +1.
True diablo fans still know blizzards time. If they are going to release information at 9am, its 9am their time gmt -8, almost anyone serious about diablo news for anywhere in the world, knows blizz time by now.
I think they will let you log in at whatever time once you have the game installed. There is no competitive ladder or anything for people to have an advantage by logging in earlier than other people in Diablo 3, so no reason for them to arbitrarily keep people from playing. In WoW there are all sorts of achievements based on being the first person to max level on a certain class type or the first to beat the raid encounters, etc. Diablo 3 has no such competitive structure. At best you would be the first to see the story, which they have kept under lock and key this entire time.
If it was to continue the same model of SC2, each server will be unlocked based on their specific local time. For NA region, i guess it would be 12:01 PST. Of course SEA players will get to play half a day earlier than us.
Also, digital copies of SC2 are not unlocked till 9:00 am of release day while retail copy can log in on 12:01 of that same day (though if digital buyers get a hand on unlocked(retail) copy to install, they can still play at 12:01)
Hey Molster I got a question; When cataclysm hit the servers were packed, but mine did not crash (Some might have?), this could be because they learned from the previous 3 launch dates, which all had plenty of crashes. For that release they made the servers available for everyone at the same time, and that was the one that did not crash ( for me). SWTOR tried to "ease" people in with the whole presale deal for early play, now I'm not saying blizzard should or would ever do this, but would easing people in at different time zones help? Or because of the short timeframe they would have to adapt before another time-zone was available would that not be worth it? I say this because the last thing I want is to log in, find a boat floating through tristram, then get kicked to find servers are down.
Going with 12:01 PST (Blizzard Time) for NA at least. I think it would be fair to 12:01am in each region but then I guess people could argue that will be unfair as well. Maybe someone could ask on twitter/forums but they may not even know yet.
While I'm not thrilled about the idea, I believe it will be PST.
This is really affecting the decisions for my friends and I to have a LAN party on the 15th, or that Friday. We all work and are trying to figure out the best solution. If its released midnight PST, my friends and I won't get server up until 3am, really limiting opening night release
Would be 15th of may at 00.01 o'clock. The question is on what clock... :-D
I hope it'll be regional, but I don't know. Won't be playing until afternoon of the 15th anyways, just to make sure I don't spend a day off for nothing.
I'll w8 till Friday evening. They may even have to post some quick fixes before it will be really playable.
TBH I don't care what time it is released. I'm just glad after YEARS of waiting it will be here. Such a glorious day today. Best game ever made is coming back. Thank God and Diablo.
I would guess Blizzard (PST) time but if memory serves when SC2 launched the servers were available here (EST) right at midnight, it definitely wasn't 3am.
