In my understanding, almost everyone will run around inferno as soon as they hit maxlevel and go farm'n'grind for gear or make dungeonruns with friends/strangers, some seem to think that only a few among us will reach inferno and the majority of players will stay somewhere in between.
they made it sound like if u complete hell your gunna be level 60 or close to it.. so if you dont reach inferno its because you stopped playing.. atleast thats how it seems.
Yeah inferno is nothing more than another mode to me. It's something that I assumed would happen anyways in some form (that is, the hardest difficulty having 60+ mobs from Act 1 to finish), they just decided to make it in a 4th mode instead of in the 3rd mode. They could have easily scaled the game to have you hit 60ish at the finish of nightmare.
why do people think that HC will not be in inferno? Come on people show some adventure charge in there and kick some ass!! And f you get your ass kicked well you learn from your mistakes and you pick yourself up and try again.

My guess is i will be 60 and working on inferno within 72 hours of release and i will have it on farm in 1 week. We will see if im wrong but with the amount i will play i bet im right. I honestly dont think inferno will be hard for anyone good at video games. I think the content for end game not yet announced and will be released post launch is where the real challenge lies. I think infeerno is a farm fest for gear so we will be ready for these other content patches.

If you was referring that to me, I didn't think HC would not be in Inferno, I would just like to see someone get to that point and be all like "Oh god.. I'm afraid to even go outside". Or maybe the funny reaction of death followed by a silence, then the flipping of their computer desk. I know that's how I would react.
"Alright I just got my dude to lvl 60 time for inferno HC" *Slain by fallen* "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"

Public service announcement: the idea of a fourth difficulty exactly like inferno was proposed by everyone and their dog, PLEASE stop bragging about how you predicted it. There were literally a dozen threads with hundreds of posts of people predicting it. No one cares.
On the subject of the thread, from the sound of it Inferno is meant to be a challenge mode that you will really have to invest time and effort into completing. If we're taking our queues from D2, hell will already require some pretty good skill building/gearing to complete (or at least a good party composition). Inferno will likely require not only a good build and decent gear, but actual skill at the game--not to mention a reasonable amount of trial and error.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if people had beaten inferno in the first week, but I doubt it will be that many. I'm sure it will end up being a lot harder than most of you think
Totally smugging on how I posted in the inferno thread (and as I recall, didn't post anything useful).
Also i'm inclined to believe, no matter how hard they make it: inferno will be cleared in the first week, easily in softcore. HC might take a while though, depending on just how many lolaffixcombinations there are (the fire, lightning, cold enchanted mob with the conviction aura, etc) to be avoided.
The "hard" stuff being cleared in the first week is nothing new; there are numbers of people out there for that fame and have the zealotry to do such a thing. Then the "too easy!" complaints start rolling in from people who haven't cleared Nightmare yet.
As much as I want there to be a difficulty/mode that takes grueling teamwork and is a real bitch of a time to clear, it has to have a cut-off point to stay 'accessible'. However, I don't want it to be so easy that it is just the aforementioned "farm fest", because that would be in poor taste.
I agree with Stev89 I don't think Inferno will be that hard if your good. It will be harder than baal runs but how hard were those.
Mostly agree with this. Their intent with inferno is more of the true question. Is it truly meant to be a test or does it go along with their agenda of the casual gamer who can make progress in the 30 minutes he plays a week?
I'm sure it will end up being a lot harder than most of you think
^ This. Also, and please forgive the WoW reference, I see inferno a lot like heroics. Hard as nails at first, but after content releases and people gear up, less hard, then possibly easy at some point. Then when level capped is raised by an expansion, hard as nails again. Rinse repeat. Awesome IMO.
As far as number of people playing inferno, it's pretty accessible. Anyone who beats hell and is 60 can play it. And since leveling to 60 is going to just about happen by the time you beat hell, well, lots of people will play inferno.
Just like lots of people failed, I mean, played heroics (pre nerf/content releases).
Also, the guy talking about how the average person played SC2 was spot on... for SC2. My recollection of D2 was not people stopping after beating the story. Most people (again, from my memory) wanted to get as high and powerful as fast as possible. IMHO, most people will at least touch hell, with a vast population progressing in inferno to some extent. (That means I'm guessing >50% in Hell, <50% make actual progress through inferno)
When the content is there, and people can access it, people will play it.
I just hope its hard without being ......... lame?
I dont want to use every skill I have , including the ones with 2 minute cooldown 15 times on 1 monster just to kill it.

Non-Max level character? Normal-NM-Hell.
Any other questions?

But i hope inferno demands skill and tatics, instead of just farm.
