How much time do you guys actually think you will end up spending on d3? I spent a stupid amount of time on d2. It was not uncommon for me to spend entire weeks during my school summer vacations doing nothing but playing d2 (how cool was I?!). However that was then. Now I am 23 and am working full time (as a software engineer. and yes, we work ridiculous hours at times). As hyped and excited as I am about d3 I really cant see myself getting hooked to it like I was with d2 just because of all of my other commitments.
I imagine that a lot of the hardcore d3 fans are in a similar position as me, people played d1 and d2 during their school/high school years when they had a lot of free time and have now grown up.
So how much/how often do you guys except to play d3?
Depends how many more courses I can fail before going on probation.

A Post Concerning The Real-Money Auction House:
"Except real money trading has always been present in Diablo 2. Except now it's going to be officially supported which will reduce scams, prevent the funding of the black market so your kids will no longer be exposed to dangerous life ruining drugs like the cancer causing marijuana."
If D3 is released this year, probably no time at all since I am currently saving money for a new rig and my efforts won't come to fruition until beginning next year.
That is....unless I win the lotto!!!
Supposing I have the machine to handle this baby, probably at the minimum 1 hour daily. Wishful thinking makes me dream of around 3-5 hours daily on the days when I am free- which is something that I don't envisage happening until a few years at least...
By that time the expansion will be probably in my hands and then I will truly begin to enjoy D3 with the awesome expansion class that is the Necromancer. *orgasm*
This is something I am worried about. When the game comes out, I will be working 45+ hrs a week and in my Master's program at school. Not to mention the rest of my busy life with my wife and dogs.
I still hope to play the game about 5-10 hrs a week though. Probably all in one day on a day off

When D2 came out I played at least 8 hours a day. Quite often it was in excess of 16 hours (did not work or school at the time) and that was for the first 2 years. The hours went down to about 6 to 8 hours (school and then work) that want on till about to 2007. Many of those hours were playing mods. 2008 and later the amount of hours went down.
The first day I got D2 I finished Nightmare with 1 character and the other 4 were well under way. I think I played about 16 hours if not more the first day (overnight)
For D3 it will depend on how the game feels to me when I get it. I will likely play 16 hours a day for the first 2 weeks if I am not working maybe even more than 16 hours.

On Strike and supporting Fallout 4 Mod Makers
Some fallout 4 mod makers have had their mods stolen and uploaded and downloaded on Bethesda's site for the Xbox One.
Depends on if its the summer or not when it comes out. If it is, then I'll only be able to play after work ends at 5 and I get home at 6 until I go to bed at 11 (although that won't be straight playing as I'll have to go to dinner among other things.) If its during the school year then I'll actually probably be able to play more. Probably something like 6ish hours a day depending on how much work I have. Either way I'll certainly get my fix
Honestly for the first 2 weeks or so, anywhere from 4-8 hours depending on what's going on that day. My friend and I used to go 12 hours on Diablo 2 on weekends.. Ooh junior high..

Probably gonna leave the girlfriend to play more, she'd just be coming between me and Diablo anyways. Not enough room for her in that threesome.
In all seriousness though, I'll probably play it hardcore for about the first 2 weeks or so. By hardcore I mean every moment I'm not busy, my face will be glued to the computer screen. After that I can definitely see myself slowing down and playing it casually.

Thats why you gotta get her hooked on D2 and pumped for D3! Thats what I did
You speak the truth sir! I got my gf to play D2 for a while, and even still plays it off and on for shiggles. She's super pumped for D3, I even convinced her to add an extra 2 gigs of ram in her new mac book pro she's getting for the sake of Diablo .

I dunno. Senior year in high school (class of 2012), dunno if I'll have a lot of time for goofing off upon release.
After I graduate, however, it's another story. Skyrim, Diablo III, and Skate 3 all summer. And I'll be at the gym a lot (seriously), so I'll have to factor that in.
It is imperative... imperative that I stay in shape whilst playing D3. I don't want D3 to be the death of me.
