there is a mindset where rare, super rare, and stupidly rare where the quality isnt defined by the unique effects but the viability and power for overpowered endgame builds. It adds a different kind of incentive grind to higher paragon levels and perfect rolls. some people find the grind for higher grade gear (eg: ethereal runewords) satisfying.

Primal ancients... higher grade of runestones kind of rarity? i hope not. too much luck-to-power may act as a deterent for the competitive grift scene

how many counted builds would be counteractive enough to make skill matter less in high standard pvp with endgame gear. i imagine their 97bil would round down to around 10 per class which is still really good! d2 had about 5 per class as far as unique quality and counter type were concerned.Quote from Ronkis
about "cookie cutter builds"..
i dont think there is one unless only 99.999999% of all 97 billion different builds suck and only a few stand out..
say you counter my build and someone else counter you, someone else counter him and then someone else counter him, since there are so many different combinations, after a while, say 73138 different counter builds, my build (or one of the 73135 builds before him) probably can beat the last build since his build is not at all the same as the guys who countered me or any of the other ones..
and thats only 1v1
unless only 0.000001% (that makes 970 different builds) of the 97 billion different builds are better than all the rest, i think you can always find a counter for whatever youre up against.

May 30, 2011lowl posted a message on DiabloCast: Episode XI - It's Over 9,000+its a shame they removed the talisman. i prefer a boring item drop with more opportunities for straight stat addition over choice upgrades for item places already filled. Thought an opportunity for more gameplay over quality may not be to the majority's liking (as far as mid to lategame over endgame comparison is concerned). Better endgame would be talismantasticPosted in: News

I have some hack n slash games on my ps3 simalar to torchlight and the auto target and manual target switching works well. Though with things like teleport im not sure.Quote from ScyberDragon
Dammit, Why don't I know anything about console programming? Yet one more missed opportunity to work for Blizzard.
Why don't they ever have any positions for "Person who can ramble on for hours about nothing"?
Seriously, I take the information about it not delaying PC release promising about the closeness of such date. As for the actual game, I still don't understand how targeting would work. There is just no way you can move a cursor with a joystick as fast as a mouse. Unless it is for the Wii, which would be awesome if they included movement based attacks. I would love to hack n' slash in my living room.
Im more concerned with the idea that blizz would waste money on buying rights to put their game on ps3 and xbox than how they would set it up. Its been done in the past plenty of times and its not that hard and doesnt take alot of time to set up an auto targeting system (i would imagine)Quote from Donsro
I would be forced because I have a ps3 and it would be too tempting not to try it. I know that people will buy the PC version with no previous knowledge, but bringing it to consoles amplifies that to everyone who walks into gamestop looking for a cool game. Maybe I'm just selfish I don't know, but another point could come up. Would Blizzard be so involved with the console version that they could spend less time and possibly overlook the PC version?

Embrace the changes? You mean play world of warcraft... Sorry but I will pass on that, not because world of warcraft is a bad game but because I've already played too much of it and I don't really want to be reminded of it constantly in another game (diablo 3) that shouldn't have nearly all the similarities that it already has in regards to world of warcraft. I mean a level 60 cap? They could have made it 85. Why 60? Are they retarded or what?
you know, just because you have an aversion to number 60 it doesn't mean that blizz can't use it.
Also, you said it yourself that they could've made it any other number. so why not? because you have some issues with number 60? give me a break.
he was joking, using the 85 bit... you need to play moar wow =D cos wow is the besterest... if you like warcraft lore or grinding (with new and more interesting quest content!) to be a little more powerful
i toats aggree, i dont like having to ding before having to worry about death and loss of xp in d2. and it will be nice to have the top level a little more reachable before focusing on the aim of the game, puwarful itumz etc... not that it wont be hard to reachQuote from akse
I like this.. you don't ding levels all the time.. gaining 1 level should be slower and when u finally get level up it rewards a lot more than now in D2.
Also in D2 your character was pretty much done when u hit 80.. it could do almost anything already.

This is great and succinct but its written like a self help book. A list with bullet points n visuals following a timeline would b more noob proof but i doubt a fresh noob would b looking at this sight so its perfect for intermediates looking to create a method for seasons effective fun

i saw a 1h wand with a potential for 400dps; that's only 100dps of the highest 2h weapon.

i dont think your making the assumption that you can keep them in party scenarios but il clarify anyway that they are for solo play only

How will the game be balanced around the followers?
The followers won't be a massive part of game balance. They're there to make the single-player, normal difficulty experience feel more cooperative and to aid in enhancing the story. These factors lose some importance in multiplayer and in the higher difficulty settings of the game, and as such, the followers won't be as relevant there.
