omg, it doesn't reach space man! It is a building that just so happens to be tall, like many that were made years ago and some today. They had plenty of time to build them, so what makes you think all of these people, or whoever built them (sorcerers, demons, angels) couldnt have done it? this guy hates vertical things i tell ya. It is an awesome structure and i think we should be finding the character(s) who made it, and applaud them ;).
Its a video game.....when does anything in a video game truly make sence? I mean we are going around with a single barbarian or some other class solo and taking down the lords of hell.....if anything the buildings and there epicness are far more believeable
I know 20 years is a while, but I don't believe they created buildings in that time. I think they were already there. We never visited Ureh or Caldeum or any of the other places they are showing, so who knows whats going down. And I believe all of that Turkish looking art is infact Caldeum not Lut Ghoelin.
I am fairly certain we will not visit Lut Ghoelin for several reasons:
1. We are almost certainly visiting Caldeum, which is very similar in terms of landscape.
2. We visited Lut Ghoelin in Diablo 2. Needless to say, it wasn't very flushed out, they wouldn't want to put the another image in our heads.
im sure theres lots of non-epic areas....but when showing off a game for the first time there gonna make it out and big and wondorous to draw people in...im sure the entire game isnt this epic and stuff lol
thats your opinion but loads and loads consider it epic. does not WoW have epic gear? and starcraft 2 has been called epic due to the nature of the game and how the zerg are coming back and all that jazz... and fallout 3... a nuclear holocaust has happened and your here to save the world... how is that not epic
oh im sorry...the new style and buildings are monstrously pimpin! this is going to be so BAMF...certainly not epic...yes epic is thrown around now, but what better word to describe it? Bottom line of this thread is not about it being "epic", but rather you not understanding that in the VIDEO GAME of DIABLO, there is MAGIC and even IF THERE WASN'T, it is STILL VERY POSSIBLE that those AMAZING BUILDINGS are existent.

WoW: The game is just big, not really epic. "Epic" gear is just some term people use to talk about overpowered gear. In the time I played WoW, I never really felt like I was palying a game with a storyline. It was just, "Get best gear""
Starcraft: Storyline may be epic, I guess (to some people), but the game itself isn't epic. RTSs are small scale ... as in, think abut when you're playing one ... you're on a relatively small map (compared to other game genres) doing linear things.
Fallout 3: Again, it's epic in principle, but poorly executed. I guess someone who hasn't played the game could consider it epic, but once you're actually in the game it's pretty non-epic. The wasteland is exactly how it is named ... it's completely bare and pretty boring. THe only epic part is at the end of the game, and that whole sequence - but the actual ending makes you hate playing the game, because of how bad it plays out.
But, like you said, that's just how I judge on something is epic. More so, the feeling it gives me.

haha, would you rather sit back as the hero and have a beer in town, negotiating how to take down the evil surrounding them, and then going out and getting butchered, come back to town almost dead and sleep? Because diablo is the OPPOSITE of that, which is and has always been "EPIC!" lol...a game isn't interesting if it doesn't have some amazing story or game play that are outrageous and cool. Then you are just stuck with wii games...which suck lol.
what you dont seem to understand is that you dont need something to be epic to be good... Diablo 2 was awesome as it was because its as though ur hero has risen above out of the small cities and towns and taken out diablo. like you were the worlds secret protector as the planet at the time appeared to be quite sparse with people

At the same time, something isn't bad just because the designers are trying to make it "epic".
I think we all need to relax ... Diablo 3 will make us wet ourselves either way with it's awesomeness.
ok i give up, i cannot convince those who can only see their own opinion... continueing this conversation will only lead to anger on my part and more frustration.
and to toss my sig into it: To attempt an understanding of Muad'Dib without true understanding, is to attempt seeing Truth without knowing Falsehood. It is the attempt to see the Light without knowing Darkness. It cannot be.

I never said that it wasn't going to be good if it wasn't epic. You're pretty much just venting about the term being used so much ...
I gave my opinion on games and why I didn't, or did consider them epic.
I even said: I'm basing this just on my opinion. My judging on if a game is "epic" is the type of "feeling" it gives me.
But yes, let's drop it. Diablo is awesome. Let's all agree.

RIP: Demon Hunter: lvl 50 | Barb: lvl 60 (plvl 5) | Monk: lvl12 & lvl70 (plvl 200)
did we ever see spells that could move entire walls of stone?
Many many many many fantasy games have spells that do this...like dungeons and dragons
haha yeah people are way to picky about this shit even when it DOES make sense.
Yeah....people are way to picky about these small things espically..
Personally, I love the new-found epic-scale.
I always thought Diablo was pretty epic, but I've come to love the new graphics and everything involved with the game.
Of course, me having a pimp PC now makes it easier on me; knowing I can crank it to max settings without hiccups.
CyberPunk RP Nexus
Epic WoW
Epic gears 2
epic starcraft
epic diablo
epic fallout 3
i have heard devs and people use that word for each game... (no devs for blizz though)
Fallout 3 isn't Epic. WoW isn't epic. Starcraft is not epic (no RTS is).
Gears 2 is pretty epic. And so is Diablo.
I'd consider games with high action, and an engrossing, intriquite storyline is plenty of good lore to be "epic".
