one thing i was pondering though, sure theres not corpses and shit nailed to tree's in act 1 etc.. etc.. Early act 1 at that.. but what i was thinking was the differences between normal - nightmare - hell. say you go thru normal, its nice gets worse as you go thru acts.. then you get to nightmare, you start to see bad shit going on even in act 1 you'll start seeing more gore. then when you get to hell you feel as if it's all gone bad.. hell is starting to show. i dont think it's something that has been talked about but it would certainly be interesting!
idk about the extra epicness... but if it got darker as you progressed from norm-hell as was stated and they added for example, more bodies nailed to trees, rotting corpses, more torture... that would be awesome... actually more that awesome... fucking awesome.
Well, I have the game right here, and I play it once in a while, and, yeah, that's what it looks like, even on my medium controls. Make sure you weren't looking at the 360 version, because that one is a bit choppy because of TV translation.
Zoomed out, the game may look a bit off, but I never play it that way. On the other hand, S2 monsters are not as detailed as your character is, for instance. It also looks better in dungeons than outside.
@Topic
Diablo III will look better later on after they polish it somewhat, but as of right now, the direction they're taking looks very different from the one S2 and TQ took - better physics, for instance.
Lydeck, dont you see how the dungeon in the trailer looks?
Now even though its a tiny chance, one could worry about every indoor area being like that.
I see nothing wrong with it.
Seems to me people are just trying to find things to nitpick about. Just figure out that each game is getting bigger, that's just how it is. Think about it, in Diablo 1 it was just you vs. Diablo and his minions. In Diablo II, it was you vs. Diablo, Mephisto, and Baal. We have no idea about the story of Diablo III, but one can assume through trailers, artwork, and simple deductive reasoning that it's going to expand like the games prior did between each other.
I dunno, I just don't get why people are so scared of things changing - and something so dumb at that. Afraid of the game being "too big". Really? Are you all serious?

I for one am glad they're finally letting us see a lot more of the world, and bigger more lore ridden places.
Those are all just concept arts, things will still seem some what small, at least in most places I'd assume. The demos didn't seem like the areas were too big.
Kenzai ... a very telling part of your post, "Like Diablo I."
This isn't Diablo I anymore. Diablo II didn't even have the "suspense" that you're speaking of, that Diablo I had, IMO. It can be "horror" and big, methinks.
well if everyone's worried about the way the dungeons in the cathedral appear in the screens, just look at it this way: it's representing the multiple levels you have to travel down in like in D1 only instead of them being closed floors, some of them are open to each other like in a huge room.

Legilimens, that post of you is kinda spammy i think. Just warning.
Lydeck, seriously take a look at the trailer again. That place is totally huge. Of course it could easily be built with magic or something, as we talk about a fantasy world, but if all "dungeons" (its not actually a proper dungeon i suppose?) are like that, the "thrilling" aspect of the game will be totally taken out. No matter what, Diablo should definitely keep some aspects of horror. You know, that feeling of "suspense" or the "tension" when you walk in a tight dungeon like in D1. That was really a great part of Diablo.
we were shown no example of this magic in d1 or d2 even though we visited heaps of important places. there are no dwarves in diablo :\
Btw nice to see you around again Daemaro

that is architecturally impossible in almost every case shown so far. in d1 and d2 what we were shown would be very possible to build.
and now no doubt someone would say "UR WRONG IDIOT REMEMBER ACT 5 BAAL'S ROOM!!" first off the ceiling appeared to be very low and the endless pit we saw could easily have been created by natural rock formation. then simply whoever built the worldstone built around it and made it look nice.

well yeah i didnt say it was possible, just a way at looking at why blizzard chose to make it look that way. it still baffles me as to why i'm looking at a huge pit when wandering through a church's corridors...

The fact of the matter is that it doesn't matter what your opinion is. Blizzard is going to do whatever the hell they want whether you think it looks too big and Lord of the Rings or not.

huh? where is this pit?
and if u mean the pit in the new artwork. thats fine because whatever crashed simply made a hole through the catacombs so that is very possible.

i dont even know what to say to that. other that that iv already responded to someone who said exactly that and feel that it would be unnecessary to go and find it or post a good response to your statement as i know you wont see what i see.

I guess your probably right, I was just making the point that we haven't seen the final product so how do we know they won't add detail or whatever?
Eh, ignore me! I'm just biased cause I'm not as concerned about the graphics.

Good point

Right on! That's what I've been pointing out...Or maybe I didn't, but I was thinking it!
Thanks for making this point.

To each their own, though.
And lol. Those pictures aren't similar at all.
