That really makes me say "why", though. Like pirates won't instantly find a way to fake the authentication for the game and it'll install anyway. Instantly is an exageration, it will probably slow them down, but for a meaningless amount of time.
DRM are a waste of everyone's time, even in this small form. It doesn't have ANY good sides. Just some random small bad sides here and there.
Slow them down?
most games are pirated before the game is even released
even if it is not i give them 3 days at most (after release) for it to have a cracked version out.
DRMs are nothing but a punishment for buying a game legally
I dont belive that blizzard would put such restricted crap on the shelves.....There smarter than that.

They already have DRM. It's called removal of LAN for SP players. From SC II and I believe Diablo III as well.
Want people to buy it? Make a good game. It's that simple.
It is. Despite what they want us to believe, pirating changed everything. No one can be stopped from doing so. There are way too many.
So in this age and time, what makes people buy games? People can now judge the game easily, even have it for free and -decide- by themselves if they will pay for it or not.
In my opinion, its how it should be, but lets not get into this. A lot of people now decide what they do with their money depending on the games, or the makers. Look at EA: People -love- to pirate their game and not give them a penny, thanks to their reputation. Look at Spore, too, thanks to its DRM.
Games that are good though, even from relatively unknown company, if they are respectful of their customers (no exagerated DRM, etc...), people tend to buy them. Its just a proof that all you need to do, is treat your customers properly and make games with quality in mind, and more people will buy it. Putting protection crap will not win you a single person.
Putting protection crap will not win you a single person.
It would definitely be nice, though, to avoid the exploitation of it by advertisers and websites in the online play portion of the game. For the most part I agree, though.
(Er, well, that's not really piracy, actually, it's more of the hacking issue, now that I think of it.)
any true diablo fan will pay money for the game instead of ripping it off of bittorrent. But i agree..DRM is idiotic and I have a hunch that with all that went down with its unpopularity, blizzard WILL NOT ADOPT IT..so rest your weary heads diablo fans.

Oops! Actually, I am basing this off of Starcraft II. I suspect Diablo 3 will work much the same.
