WTF? I just gave you the definition of what a STRAW MAN is and what a STRAW MAN ARGUMENT is, dumb shit. You're doing nothing more then "NO YOUing". You fucking suck, you know you suck, everyone knows you suck, yet you still desperately try to redeem your utter "phailure" to even understand something as simple as a STRAW MAN. GTFO of my face "phailure", don't EVER bother replying to anything i say as of now, its no fun to burninate a newfag re re like you anymore.
The Straw Man fallacy is committed when a person simply ignores a person's actual position and substitutes a distorted, exaggerated or misrepresented version of that position. This sort of "reasoning" has the following pattern:
Person A has position X.
Person B presents position Y (which is a distorted version of X).
Person B attacks position Y.
Therefore X is false/incorrect/flawed.
This sort of "reasoning" is fallacious because attacking a distorted version of a position simply does not constitute an attack on the position itself. One might as well expect an attack on a poor drawing of a person to hurt the person. Examples of Straw Man
Prof. Jones: "The university just cut our yearly budget by $10,000."
Prof. Smith: "What are we going to do?"
Prof. Brown: "I think we should eliminate one of the teaching assistant positions. That would take care of it."
Prof. Jones: "We could reduce our scheduled raises instead."
Prof. Brown: " I can't understand why you want to bleed us dry like that, Jones."
"Senator Jones says that we should not fund the attack submarine program. I disagree entirely. I can't understand why he wants to leave us defenseless like that."
Bill and Jill are arguing about cleaning out their closets:
Jill: "We should clean out the closets. They are getting a bit messy."
Bill: "Why, we just went through those closets last year. Do we have to clean them out everyday?"
Jill: "I never said anything about cleaning them out every day. You just want too keep all your junk forever, which is just ridiculous."

Explained by me many posts ago. Who gives a shit about what Doppel has to say about it? I just had a lot of fun morphing him into a foaming imp.
I've never read anything about a new style in D3 being about oversized shoulder pads, but I do recall that the bigger my shoulder pads were in D2 the more advanced and powerful I felt my character was. In a fantasy game where the heros you play are meant to be larger than life, big shoulder pads seem like a natural occurrence to me. Wanting a limit on their size is a personal preference.
Sooo, if the shoulder pads would be twice the size they are now, you would be ok with that?
I said I'm fine with how they are now. Too much of anything is a bad thing. The pads aren't ridiculously large. Would shrinking them down make them better for the game?
I agree that the gameplay trailer showed very beautiful (not colorful) and detailed environment. But I am not unhappy with this because I like to watch the land corrupt instead of start the game off in corrupted areas.
yea, i will also love to see the process, this can be rally immersive
but does uncorrupted really have to mean blue and green tints everywhere? How can they make that contrast with all the exagerated glowy effects on the monster(the blue glow on the skeleton shield is soooo unnecessary...) over teh glowy enviroment?

definetly
leave chest and head protection to body armor and helmet
How you mean "the skills"?
About the Siege Beast (and the shoulder pads at that), i don't mind having "some" exagerated stuff, but if that "epicness" is like throughout the complete game, well i'm already having a headache thinking about it.
So some people like it and you don't. I don't feel that anything is "overdone". It seems to be a fantasy series and epic in its story telling scope. So I think arguing that shoulder pads need to be smaller is a kind of exercise in futility. It's an opinion. Backing it up with it being more "real" (like some people do) relies on the idea that the game needs to meet a standard of realness as perceived by the person making the argument. Or others argue that the game needs to meet a standard on what is "diablo" and that seems to get us nowhere as well, especially when it seems to imply that D3 can not grow, expand, or evolve passed it's D2 roots in many superficial ways.

well, imo, making armor larger trhough franchise iterations is not an improvement or growing(unless armors are a living being), its just a change of style
and we belive diablo should keep diablos style
Excuse me Ollo, but are you refering to Diablo or Diablo 2? As far as I can tell, Diablo didn't have skill tree's either. Also Diablo 2 didn't have Diablo classes either. Also D3 has light radius but I guess you were too overwhelmed with awesomeness of the gameplay trailer to notice it, so it's forgiven. Creepiness seems to be more present than in D2, more like D1 to me. That leaves us with 'pseudorealism' and 'inventory' but guess what. D3 was supposed to be a sequel and not a remake. I'm sure we would all be happy if Blizzard just re-released D2 with a different name but yeah..... That kind of 'pseudorealism' doesn't work in a 3D engine.
Some points have a "but..." in it, but you can securely say this game could be a sequel to Titan Quest or some other hack'n'slash around. Will still be a great game, though...
Diablo inventory - nope (So what? It's a way better efficient design and I wouldn't consider the new inventory system game breaking)
Diablo creepyness - nope (I don't know about you, but it still feels like a Diablo to me, we saw .0001% of the game)
Diablo lightradius - nope (Another improvement, I never liked that)
Diablo characters - nope (We don't know that yet, the Barbarian is back, either way new characters are always better than trying to create new elements with old ones, plus look at Diablo 1 and II, different characters minus the Sorc, maybe the Rogue)
Diablo pseudorealism - nope (How was Diablo I and II a comprehensible realistic representation? Role-play more buddy)
Diablo skilltrees - nope (We don't know that, I'd also expect them to be different, look at Diablo I and II, I guess Diablo II isn't really a Diablo either, right?)
it's not suppose to be some d2 copy that has everything we love from it, things changed from d1- d2, and it will change from d2-d3, and we will love those changes like we loved d2.

lol Krauser, thanks for making it plain obvious how much of a fan you really are.
-inventory. Like it or not, it was a Diablo's thing, now its not anymore, its not even an improved version anymore.
-creepyness. How?
-lightradius. Yea, thats great, everything is an improvement when they substract stuff from a game you didn't like in the first place.
-characters. Dunno
-psueudorealism. =\ realism
-skilltree. D2's added something to D1. D3?
I think I already made it obvious that I don't care what direction Blizzard takes the Diablo series as long as it plays great and doesn't look like shit - I won't complain and cry a river like the majority in this thread.

- Inventory exists. If you want to play tetris, go play tetris, it's another game.
- If you think D2 was a creepy game, you must be a very young child, or emotionally unstable person otherwise
- Light radius exists. You are being obnoxious insisting that it doesn't. Jay even said there will be dungeons so dark that you will only rely on your own light radius. Besides, just analyze the trailer before you post about it.
- Dunno? Great argument. Flagshit wanted to remove all D2 classes all together and I bet noone would've complained. D1 and D2 had completely different classes. That is not addition but substitution.
- That's not even a sentence. The point still remains. Which full-blown 3D game has enough realism to please you? Ah yes - every single game in the market. Too bad that they start looking like crap as soon as new 3D technologies take over.
- D3 has skilltrees. D2 has skilltrees. D2 REMOVED learning skills through randomly dropped tomes, and SUBSTITUTED it with a completely different system.
How so? I actually like the way Diablo III is going, I haven't lost anything.

While there is strength and weakness in both styles, the advantage of inventory "tetris" is that it's relatively quick to organise and find what's in your inventory. It can also have just as much space as a single-slot system, judging by how NWN used the "tetris" inventory. The disadvantage is the fact that you can't show nearly as much on the screen at once, and compared to a fully organised single-slot isn't as efficient. The problem is it's a constant effort to keep the single-slot organized, and can be a hassle to find items you don't want in your inventory.
As to full-blow 3D game that has enough realism, I'd say Gears of War is a pretty good example, but I'd still prefer Halo 3 in terms of visual quality.

I don't understand. I've spent a ton of time playing inventory tetris while single slot items never give me an organization problem. You don't have to keep inventory tetris organized constantly? I do. It's faster in single slot overall because the item takes a slot and the problem of making all of them fit on a grid is gone.
