That doesn't mean we won't have rune words. And if they decided to cut the rune words perhaps now they make set items, combination items, I don't know, more potent?
Well its hard to imagine Runewords without runes that have names.
I'm all for rune words, so long as they aren't stupidly overpowered like the 1.10 ones. Also, a more reasonable drop rate would be nice, I had heard somthing about zod runes only droping on average once every 2 or 3 days across all the servers of a given realm. If thats even remotely true, it's pretty bad.

Yeah but after that duped 1000's of times and everyone has the best items. bg .(
Yeah its so nice to have 1 char that have skills of 5.. + an overpowred merc that is your personal paladin with 5 different auras. tbh 1.10 lod isnt diablo anymore what comes to items and classes.
Wont be runewords in the kind of power they have now thats for sure. They said something about every class should be quite unique and have really nice skills and specialities.. having such runewords that gives other classes skills don't match with this.
I'm all for rune words. I only hope that rune words will have their own unique skills something no other class has.
I fully endorse this product and/or service.

especially enigma
Hell. No. Enigma was completely broken, and it was designed that way. I will be completely pissed if something that powerful is in the game.

I remember the glory days of Diablo II when the best items were the hanky panky rares that you found off random mobs.
Diablo three, IMHO, should have decent uniques, no runewords, pretty good sets, and the rares should range from complete shit to i just shit myself good.
It would make the game more varied with the really good rares only being one of a kind.

Your thoughts?
Yes exaclty, I've posted this to many threads Old times for the win!
Uniques should have all those special stats that no other item can have. They should be used in special builds, special situations etc. They could be somewhat powerfull in some slots but not all slots. Rares should have the possibility to be the very best item for every slot, but also make it so that some uniques could have the possibility to take rares place. For example if your resists are max already without your helmet, you could wear some unique with +skills and other usefull things.
These kinds of things add a lot more variations and everyone wont look the same.
I definitely want to see runewords make a comeback in Diablo III.
for those of you bitching about it, it was only bad because of the amount of runes Duped and the fact that they where all over the place in numbers that shouldn't be.
but i doubt the new bnet will allow any duping to go on, so the rarer runewords will be truly rare and worth something. Imagine having an enigma in Diablo II if there was no duping going on it the game.
not to mention also how useful they where.
I really hope they have runewords, they were lots of fun.
Maybe every runeword could have its own unique skill. Like a runeword called "Stealth," could have a passive skill that does this: if you haven't attacked a monster in the last three seconds, you'll go invisible to monsters, so they won't attack you. This would be good if you start dying and you're low on pot and there's no globes around and you gotta run.
Skills like that wouldn't be imba but they'd be nice and would add more personality to the runewords.

Ranger - Ranged Weapon Mastery (fire a bow or javelins like a machine gun!), Traps (MK style!), Pets (lions, tigers, and bears oh my!) - physical damage based
Demonologist - Bone Spells (Necro style!), Avatar (shapeshift into a demon!), Furies (evil spirits that hang around you, giving party bonuses) - mix of physical damage and magic
LEAP ATTACK!!!!! PLAGUE OF TOADS!!!!!
SLOW TIME!!!!!
I personally disagree with having rares be the best items in game (like diablo ii lod) primarily because it offers an almost unfair advantage to the 5 people worldwide you find the really good ones. It was only fair in D2 because all of these were duped. Think if you were the ONE person to own imps? or the ONE person to own wraith bands? Almost unfair in my opinion. The best items should be uniques that always have a chance of dropping, but are MUCH more rare than in D2. Before the days of runes and runewords, Shako, Stormshield, Windforce were all considered GODLY items. I personally liked this setup more.
Runewords making a comeback is completely acceptable, but I agree that they shouldnt give classes the skills of other classes. An item like enigma was designed that way due to changes in the metagame, and it was almost needed. I hope they balance D3 better and dont need to make dumb items like this to make the game fair.
I personally think you can almost already see that they are started to do this. The purpose of enigma was basically so that characters such as barbs and such could get to their target faster since they are melee. Notice the new charge skill the barb has? I think they have obviosuly already considered this problem, and therefore no enigma will be needed.

So your whole argument is that you can't have nice things because they will dupe it.
Dude, I don't think we will see dupes in diablo 3.

Not even close, please learn to read. My problem with rares being the best is that there will never be more than one. This makes it hard to build characters around the items within a game. Instead, you would have to build a character around the items you have. Then if you find something better, that entire character may be built wrong.
What I am saying is the becaseu rares are soo unique, it kinda sucks if they are the best in the game (unique, not rare). Uniques should be the best.

Hmm, from what I've seen so far, probably not because the only runes I've seen aren't runes with names. Like "Rune of Lethality" is one I saw.

Also make the merchants able to add sockets to your gear for a prize so that you can add gems/runes to your crafted items.
There shouldn't be any ultimate item combination like there is now in LOD.
