I remember the glory days of Diablo II when the best items were the hanky panky rares that you found off random mobs.
Diablo three, IMHO, should have decent uniques, no runewords, pretty good sets, and the rares should range from complete shit to i just shit myself good.
It would make the game more varied with the really good rares only being one of a kind.

You could get buffs that have finishers as the timer runs out.
Like the Poison spell could recast itself as the pet timer finishes.
