I also usually create female avatars, but this time around I plan on making a dood (Barbarian). I like the animations an' audio of the male Barbarians more than the females.
The likeness of a female Barb kind of reminds me too much of the Amazons. And besides, it would be cool if a female Barb resembled someone more agile looking like Anya.
I hated having to play a female for my sorc in D2. I was sooooooo happy that they are allowing a choice of male/female for each class. Thanks Blizzard!
If you actually read the lore, the amazons do have men in their culture, but they don't serve in martial roles(merchants, politicians, etc) Amazons won't be chosen for Diablo 3.
A rogue or ranger class will take that spot. Think witch hunter looking for the male rogue and maybe something Baldur's Gate-ish for the Ranger.
Also I don't believe there's any statistical differences between male & female characters so it'll all be personal preference.
I'm figuring though they're only gonna use 2 classes from the diablo 2 roster and have new classes fill the other slots. Classes which don't have gender-specific lore.
I happy for the functionality now. My sister wouldn't play with me because she said there wasn't an option for a female Druid or Necromancer. I was often annoyed, also, by the Sorceress only being female.
Also, i never liked the female Sorc either, if i could have chosen it to be male, i would never have switched to a paladin. Sorc skills are just BADASS
Course, i usually just look past it. I had a pretty gosu light sorc.
i would too, but the roleplay aspect [which is very important to me] is ruined when i play as a female, I can't get into it, and being easier on the eyes doesn't help that.
Not to mention Paladins looked rather silly. Over-sized shield and massive helms ftw.
I played my sorc to Farm items, not to roleplay, my smiter/zealer hybrid was for that. because my sorceress was 100x more efficient.
The casting class doesn't have to be on the Sorceresses'. It could be a Taan, Ennead, Vizjeri, etc, which do both male and female casters. If you have a problem with male casters, take a look at the millions of wizards in fantasy books these days or in the movies, or in video games.
There are female Paladins, Just remember Act 2 and you'll know what I'm talking about, however ever since I was a little kid playing as a female never appealed to me and the reason back then was so because I liked to be pretend the game characters I played and I didn't want to pretend to be a girl, I guess it's just carried on since then.

if the class suits it ill pick a female char. that means no barbarian or paladin females.
