After watching the gameplay video and watching the Q&A Panel I'm a little confused about how the loot system is going to work.
during the Q&A panel a guy asked how the loot would drop and the developer made it seem that there will be different loot dropped for each person that only that person will be able to see. Am I interpreting this correctly or is there something else?
I understand why a lot of people would get pissed at the loot system... but it added so much to the game. Being able to drop something on the ground and have someone else in the game pick it up- that added so much interactivity. Taking out the loot system from D1/D2 will only make it like WoW or all of the other games. IMO, most Diablo fans don't want a WoW Diablo.. we want Diablo.

WoW sucks more than anything because your ability to get loot is based on randomly generated numbers by the system.
This way seems perfectly fine to me, and I can't see why people can really complain over something like this. Unless they are pissed that they won't get to steal someones drop and laugh in their face.
I can understand peoples concerns with the system but I don't think they would limit the trade system.
I can imagine like most games that have employed similar systems that after a set amount of time that the items only shown on your screen will be displayed for others after a time and when you drop items they will be displayed for everyone to see.
At the moment we know way to little about how they've actually done the loot system outside of items after a defeat/loot box is to work, it could be just like how I've explained it but it does take away that fury to "MY FREAKIN ITEM JUST DROP!!!!!! RAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! GET IT! CLICK CLICK CLICK!" if you know what I mean
Whats not fun? Doing MF runs for an item, having it drop, and whoever your with takes it and runs.
Whats fun? Getting the item
Whats not fun? Someone stealing the item from you
wrong, fun is playing the game. And if you kill someone with a group and they ninja well, it'll be easy to spread their name around, especially if they use a similar friend system like in Diablo II.
If dropped items are bound to the person/group who did the killing group for a certain amount of time then it'll be fine. Here is an idea: you kill a mob and loot drops, everyone around you can see the dropped loot. No one else can loot it unless they are in your group. The loot will become available for others to loot when either a time limit (under 2 minutes imo) or when the one who landed the killing blow has moved away from the mob a certain distance.
I think that would be viable. But really i'm just excited for the game and can now start going mad waiting for it to release.
The Diablo I loot system was garbage. With hacks / bots / dupes everyone had ridiculous gear and the game wasn't even playable in multiplayer.
They made some crappy vague promises that Diablo II's economy would be different. But it wasn't at all. They had hacks, bots, and dupes on the closed realms that ruined those economies as well. You couldn't trust trading for any gear you wanted because it was probably a dupe and would vanish after a while when Blizz did its dupe scan.
And here they are again with vague crappy promises that "hey! this time it will be different!" Its still on BNET. I'm not buying this game unless I hear SPECIFICS about how they are FIXING the Diablo series so the economy isn't broken. Individualized loot doesn't tell me anything. For all I know the items can still be duped and traded around.
Personally I'd pay the monthly fee if they get this thing OFF BNET and host the games on their own servers if it gives us a clean economy. That was the POINT of what they did with WoW in the first place. That FIXED the problem D2 had. And now they are going back to BNET? Ridiculous.

:mad::mad: Can blow it out the a**. Seriously. It is terrible. Diablo 2 had a great feeling that when you picked up that unique item, you run to identify it and it feels good that you got something powerful. Diablo 3 on the other hand makes items seem so worthless. "I got this awesome Item". "Yea so did I!". They seriously need to step away from Mythos, and back into Diablo 2. Make the game competetive, not hand shit over to the kids on a silver platter.:mad::mad:
people get different loot is not the same, they are probably doing this because a lot of people complain how there where hacks to pick all the uniques before everyone else did in d2

Thanks!
man whats the fun in that? There needs to be some shared loot. Part of the fun of Diablo II was chasing after drops!

just bind loot to either the group or the player for a certain amount of time. But I think displaying different look for all players is too much.
Then we have different ideas of fun.

But if the whole system is like that, no

FUCK SHIT FUCK! Why?!?
It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
