This.Is.NOT.WoW! Seeing a cow running around with a Deathlaser Mach-3 gun and gnome CPR kit was bad enough (and subsequently helped me quit wow entirely..). Guns as a weapon was definitely a comic relief element of wow..i dun need comic relief in diablo..
We're not talking about rifles. We're talking about handcannons.
Well Intri (forgive me for not spelling your entire name out) I think that may be going a bit too advanced, plus you have to look at Blizz's balancing abilities.
Also a siege cannon would be too heavy for 3 or 4 people to carry, let alone tossing it on your back. Think those cannons used on castle walls here...
And on a thirc note, crossbows were in both halflife as well as D2, but that didnt make D2 a shooting game, now did it?
I just don't see it working, sorry. The reason I play Diablo is to get away from technology and fight in a sword and spell fantasy era. I'm afraid adding technological advancement will eventually lead somewhere I don't want the series going.
Just doesnt work for me at all...just detracts from the visceral, gettin-close-n-personal feel that D3's trying to achieve
Because when the barbarian hits the ground and the seismic force brings the wall down, that's up close and personal. Because the summons of the Witch Doctor and the ward that scares monsters away helps the Witch Doctor get up close and personal.

Eh... then distance spells and bows detract from that feel also?
Fuck...
Ya beat me to that, ya bastard...
Anyway, you reskin that weapon in Mythos as a crossbow and nobody would care, you skin it as a gun and everybody cries. Stupid little... *Mumbles off to himself.*
I just don't know why everyone has to try to justify why they don't want guns with flacid debates. All you got to say is, I don't like guns, they just don't do it for me.
I'll start. I don't like guns, they just don't do it for me.
Is there a REASON I don't want guns in Diablo? Not really. Am I still free to feel that way? Yes!
I do NOT want to see guns in Diablo but I'm not going to deny there is almost no reason at least a cannon or rocket/firecracker typed item should be there. Diablo is in the 13th century now I think? That's pretty close to when we started seeing those types of things in our world.
Saying it ruins the up close and personal feel is just a horrid argument (no offense PiSeas). That would mean bows/crossbows/spells do the same.

Haha kudos to u dude, summed up my feelings exactly. it WAS some pretty lousy thumbsuckin trying 2 come up wif a reason 2 rationalize my gun phobia...i'd stick to 'it doesnt feel right' n leave it at that XD

"He was so deadly in fact, that his enemies would go blind through over-exposure to pure awesomeness!"
When I watched that mythos gameplay video, I thought that there could be only one kind of firearm that could fit into the gameplay and still be effective at slow speeds and that is a shotgun, now when I say shotgun, I do not mean small steel balls. I'm talking about a gun with gun powder packed in and then a bunch of shrapnel packed in front, not fast (maybe double the attack speed of the crossbow) but can take down several enemies in an aoe effect blast in a specific direction, but it wouldn't be powerful, but after a few shots it would really show it's place. A weapon that kills normal enemies of equal level in 2 shots and uncommons in 4 or so, you see where i'm going with this, no powerful blasts but moderate to low damage, a purely PvE oriented weapon, nothing that could ever compete in PVP. This would do 2 things, it would take the attention off guns and it would give it a purpose, like the explosive potions, but still make it a viable weapon, nothing that changes the item gathering up.
I'm just brainstorming that though, help me mold the idea please.

You have to admit that he's good.
im not much, if any, of a shooting game person... atleast not on computers
i hate to say this but if diablo 3 had guns in it i probably wouldn't even think about buying the game
I agree guns in Diablo is a turn off for me, but it wouldn't stop me from buying the game. No on is forcing me to use guns by them being in the game.
I don't see why you wouldn't even THINK of buying the game if it included cannons.

Like that just a TAD smaller so it's actually portable.
Look at Wow and D2. Both have classes that are overpowered and underpowered. Starcraft has the same problem, though not as bad.
When guns come to Sanctuary, the need to be like every other weapon.

But yes, it did look pretty fun. I tried to find the demo but found that it was canceled.
