that bit doesn't, its one of the better parts of the vids, try the bit just beforehand. Whoever decided to add bunnies, rainbows and cute smiling statues needs talking to, seriously, fine in WoW, not fine in diablo. I mean wtf were they thinking? seriously games like Oblivion look "calm and pretty" enough and don't have frolicking fluffy bunnies and rainbows. Even if the game is set years after and it meant to be calm and peaceful we don't need to be visually punched in the face with bambi to get the message.
Just wanna say i dont mind whatever happens but i do prefer the darker colours compared to the cartoony look ..
Anyway i also wanted to point out to Drier that its not a necklace chain around deckards neck .. its a chain that holds his cloak together around his shoulders , you will find this common in much fantasy media

A lock on this thread might not be a bad thing, says the original poster.
Major update!: As I have since stated, I feel the game looks phenomenal in motion (not that it looks bad in images). Here is an excerpt from an interview at 1up which seems to confirm my thoughts on how playing the game will feel: Rob Pardo: "We don't want the game to look like WOW. We want it to look like Diablo. But we felt that there was an opportunity to add more color to the game but still keep the game feeling dark. And I think that's something a little tougher to see in a demo. I think when you're playing the game, people will fall in love with it, and will realize, "you know what? You can have reds and blues and a more painted look and still have a very dark, gothic feel to it all."
This thread should now be considered outdated but will remain intact for the time being:
Periodical update: The poll is closed. I did not close it, I have no idea why it's closed. That doesn't bother me though, I like the graphics. Apparently, the global petition is here and another poll submitted by a moderator can be found here.
I've come to the conclusion that I am satisfied with the graphics (they look great during gameplay). This thread will continue to reflect peoples opinions, but as stated above, there is a thread which was created by a moderator which can be accessed here.
Edit: If you know who deserves credit for these edits (and can prove it), let me know so I can add it, please.
I just noticed there's more rain but no rainbow in that last picture. Ironic.
I'm satisfied with whatever the developers choose and couldn't stop shouting things such as "Oh my gosh!" and "Whooaaa!" as I watched the game play trailer.
Voice your opinion, but be sure to remember it is just that; an opinion.
Edit2: A lot of people keep stating this is pre-alpha and should be dismissed as inaccurate data. Here, they are quoted as being further along than we knew and, according to the speaker, they are intending to change the color: Stylization over realism/Don't be afraid of color.
I'm not for a complete graphic change back into Diablo 2 style... But don't you think that they could take our petition and make the game darker like in the images... I really love those images you posted... The game to what we want the game to look like...
First off : Is this petition to change the graphics completely?, Or to make the brightness and gamma darker and changed?.
If this petition is to make the game look darker like it was in those above pictures... Then I am all for the petition... But if it is to turn Daiblo 3 back into Diablo 2's graphics, then I am completely against it.
I think the new Graphics style is just fine. it brings Diablo to life. In real life the world is not seen through Gothic Eyes. Thus It should be seen as we would see it. Your eyes would capture it as they hav it put. You bring forth too dark of imagery. i could get using darker SHADES of the colors but not all shades of gray or mostly shades of gray. They want a feel of reality..Simply..They give it your images don't.
I agree the inventory should be changed, I like looking at my awesome armors, not at my character I can already see outside the inventory screen. But I also don't want it to look exactly like the D2 inventory, I also agree the art design could be altered, focused, more realistic and less blurry, but maybe they will make it that way, I do not want the game to be colorless like some of the altered pictures, but a little bit darker would be good. More importantly a little darker with good colors still not the entire screen dark and grey, like how the rugs in the altered screenshots were once purple, and now hardly have any color at all. I am sure blizzard will make alterations before the game is complete.

I understand that a lot of people see this criticism as 'whining', but in my opinion this is not the case. It's not about demanding what we want or not being thankful for the release of a new Diablo and so on.
After the release of the gameplay trailer Blizzard now has a golden opportunity to receive constructive feedback. And this whole petition-thing brings up issues which the development team might benefit from looking into.
- Do the bright green and blue colors serve their intented purpose of setting the right mood?
- Does the colorful environment make the game more interresting, or does it draw the attention away from the character and his/her skill effects?
- How do the out of proportion characters and monsters work if the main goal is staying true to the Diablo franchise?
These are examples of important issues which Blizzard now has the chance to look into. It's of course their project, and their descision. But at least now they can't say they didn't get the feedback they needed to make the game as good as possible. Yes, we've only seen a portion of the game, but Blizzard knows this, and they can take this into account. No harm done.
When you work on the same project for many years you need feedback along the way. It doesn't matter if you're the best in the world, you still become blind to what you are making. If you're making an album, a game or just a boring science project you need constructive criticism, even if it comes from a regular guy on the street. All the people wanting to give Blizzard this feedback should be welcomed with open arms.
AHH! They dont give a fuck! They saw that WoW is working very good and thats why they implented graphics from WoW to D3.
its $$$! MONEY BABY! its all about business...
You're right; all about the money. They could've made D3 look like this:
This is colorful, but it looks realistic. This is what many fans expected from D3, but these kind of graphics are expensive. Blizzard decided to save money and appeal to gamers with shitty/ancient computers.

It's not really the color that makes it bad. I like the green and blue it makes it MORE gothic imo. The HUGE problem is the cartoonish graphics. IE- the table, candle, chairs, railing, floor, and statue's.
People are STILL saying "its because its 3d" and "its done for performance reasons"??? There are plenty of 3d games that don't look like teletubbie WoW and plenty that are very low poly and very realistic.
Things like this piss me off. Just explains why they chose their current art direction, $.

please we dontwanna those graphics like UnrealEngine2 did which is looks rubber mud everwhere!!!
I just wanna say something about the armor..Ive post it on another thread..
these armors above its looks so comfortable with a little lighting around the surface of the helmet(scalp?)..no exaggerated no big scrap
iron..
this is what we taking about..the game should be more realistic..about what?..not about ploygon but art style.
the polygon of punder's armors above are less than the grils of my sig bellow..we gota additional momery for the others just like
physics engine...
maybe someone would said that there have alot bulky armor in diablo2 too..
yes,if talking about the size I am agreed, but not about the style..please look at my the pic of sig very carefully..these exaggerated armors in diablo3 demo
are totally defferent compare with diablo2's.
in diablo2 we can see all these amazing armors details with this window..
but in the demo, all changed..why did they put the man in the middle?
show what kind of weapon he have?come on,anyone can see it outside...
we just want see these rare armors with this!!!!armor is a very important features of the game!!!!

Corwyn, liquid, I have some things to say, but I unfortunately don't have enough time to say it.

what's funny is UI aside, that is HORRIBLY similar to WoW.

I couldnt have said better.
Hot damn he looks cool without the terrible WoW armor, cut down on the massive glow on the weapons and that would be some sweet graphics IMHO.
