The primary design of this build is a petless WD that relies on slows and high impact dots to weaken enemies. A great defensive core of passives supports this and will hopefully work wonders when everything is cycled properly.
Locust Swarm + Acid Cloud are the two main damaging abilities which are supported by Soul Harvest, Grasp of the Dead and Wall of Zombies.
Emergency buttons are Soul Harvest and Spirit Walk which regen both life and mana. Spirit Vessel boosts both of these quite nicely and the cooldowns will be reduced even further with Grave injustice procs.
Blood Ritual is chosen for constant health regen which I tend to prefer for most of my builds.
For solo play, take an extremely high defense oriented Templar to help keep enemies away.
I'm still debating switching up Unrelenting grip for Pile on or Creepers, but the additional slow seems quite appealing.
This build has poison, fire and physical damage to help against resistances.
You kind of missed the idea behind the build and assume too much. Not to sound passive aggressive or anything >.<
This is a kitting build, I'm not simply staying stationary. Spirit walk from my beta testing is actually amazing and does not receive any of the credit it deserves from anyone. Fair enough however, I'll definitely take it over the alternatives. The mana regen and +100% unhindered movement speed for 2 seconds is enough time to give me breathing room and allow for more skills to come off cooldown. As I believe, the physical form does not relate to your health pool, it simply acts as a dummy which has your current health pool and will remove you from the spirit realm only, if and when it takes that 50% health damage.
I agree on your points for Acid Cloud, but I feel like for this build which focuses around dots and slow effects, having a cast and forget spell is better than zombie charger, even if it is more mana efficient. I have plenty of things with my passive choices and Spirit walk to regen my mana any ways. I may change to rune to Acid rain or Lob Blob Bomb depending on the usefulness.
As for Blood ritual, 15% of health from spells really is negligible considering we will have upwards of 20,000 hp at 60. 15% of 196 (Locust Swarm) is 29.4 hp for mana cost reduction. I will be regening at 200 hp per second. The trade off seems amazing. Not to mention a have a huge bomb heal every 12 seconds (maximum, it will be reduced by grave injustice which also supports my life regen).
I am considering dropping Blood Ritual for Gruesome Feast or Jungle Fortitude. I plan on using a 1h+ Shield for this build since I have no pets to tank for me, so Jungle Fortitude actually works well with a shield.
Thanks for the comments!
Also here is the iteration of this build for the end of normal (level 30) that is possible:
I think you need a direct damage spell to compliment your DoTs. If you have a build with only DoTs... well... it's going to be really slow killing. If that's what you're after, cool... I don't understand why you'd be happy with a suboptimal build though.
Personally, I'd suggest Zombie Charger - Undeath instead of Soul Harvest. Especially if you're planning on this to be an Inferno build. I think Soul harvest will be nearly impossible to get off without pets or other distractions.

Acid Cloud is a direct damage / DoT hybrid, that will be good enough in my book. Soul Harvest is amazing, I don't think I'll be removing it. The range on it is large enough to easily get enough monsters for it to be worthwhile.
I don't see how it's impossible to get off. You guys are also forgetting about Followers I guess? I mean the Templar if built properly is an excellent distraction (not counting on him but he DOES help). http://us.battle.net...r/follower#1100
It's a single mob and in Inferno he will get destroyed within seconds. It's not like all of the monsters will attack him while you can safely jaunt in to melee range and soul harvest. Heck... I'm worried about Soul Harvest in Inferno and I plan on running a build with 5 pets + the companion.
Either way, you'd kill things quicker with a direct damage spell compared to relying strictly on dots... but if that's how you prefer to play....

Well yes that's how DoT's work lol.
There have been multiple posts by blizzard already stating that the followers will be viable in Hell + Inferno as well so the Templar of all 3 of them dying is the least of my worries. Worst case scenario I resurrect him. Soul Harvest is amazing for damage increase, have you tested it? Truly one of the WD's better spells. With the heal, its Inferno approved IMO.
You have not pets and 0 single target dmg. How are you going to kill a boss with that?
Heck, how are you going to kill anything with that?

Well thanks for the amazing input I guess I'll just have to scrap the whole build!
There's plenty of damage. Open your eyes.
What? Where? What are you going to do, cast your 4 dots and just stand there?
Grasp of the dead
Locust swarm
Acid Raid
Wall of zombies
??
Gee, I hope these mobs die...
Well GOOD LUCK, especially against a boss that could easily take a few minutes to kill.
On the other hand you could easily cast those 4 spells in less than 3 seconds...which leaves you 5 seconds to cast what? You have no filler shots....
You have nothing to spam...NOTHING! You are going for some ridiculous flavor build, and that never works out well.
PS: Seinfeld is not the least bit funny....possibly the worst comedian ever.

Could you explain to me what it does? I have never seen it and just by the skill description I imagine a 2 sec vacation from your then stationary body in ghost form after which you get snapped back. This must be utterly wrong, because the only possible use that would have is to get a quick peek in the succubus' shower rooms. That description must be the most confusing I have ever read. Maybe I am just thick, but I guess I am not the only one who simply does not have a clue how it works and what its point is.
Basically you become a spirit, that can traverse through another plane of existence. (from what I understand your life total is frozen and is not affected by the physical realm body, the life total by 50% is the dummy representation to end the effect)

Implying I'm just going to stand there is not the best way to address my build when I clearly stated it's for kitting. I have slows to support this and a quick movement speed buff. Locust swarm does 468%% weapon damage, which is also greatly increased by Soul Harvest. Acid Cloud has (as ive stated) not been rune finalized. But it's damage is respectable and is a great cast and forget ability perfectly suited for kitting.
You must learn that inferno mobs will not simply die like Hell mobs in D2, they will take time to die no matter what, this build is quite safe when played correctly [read: skilled players].
Also no need to insult Seinfeld, that's crossing the line.

Ya know, One of the best things I like about the D3 skill system is that it (at least seems) flexible enough that you could successfully use all kinds of crazy builds.
One first look I saw your soul siphon on mouse bind, which seemed really off. But it'd be an interesting challenge to make something like this work, And I (for one lol) kinda see where your coming from. Really focuses on staying mobile and making sure you keep the dots with max soul siphon up. I could see it working with the right gear and I think thats whats awesome. \
I don't see what findulidas meant with his comment about saying you have to stand still to do damage.. doesn't make much sense. You have ZERO cast times and abilities that focus on slowing the enemy and escaping while doing dmg at the same time. Personally I like it and hope it works for you. I'm also one of those people that sees not using pets as a challenge that i'm eager to take on.
I also don't get jaclaflash's assumption that pets are absolutely necessary for Inferno when the reality is.. NOBODY KNOWS! YAY and THATS exciting!! I'm pretty stoked to play around with different builds, and even try to make random builds (ie chat gem!) work!

You have to understand we're not hating on you (well flash is). Findulidas and myself are giving you constructive feedback but you're being close minded here. We're not trying to say your build sucks, we're trying to help you make it better.
My point about soul harvest is that it doesn't belong in a petless kite Inferno build. It doesn't even matter if the Templar does stay alive, you still only have 1 distraction so when you're fighting 5-10 monsters (a very common thing) you'll have AT LEAST half of the monsters beating down on you when you go in to soul harvest. With this build... which you don't even have jungle fort... I'm pretty sure you'll kick the bucket in Inferno there. Now, you do have spirit vessel so that will help but it's only helpful once every 90 seconds. If you insist on keeping soul harvest (which yes is an awesome skill in the right build), I'd change the rune to Soul to Waste. At least you'll only need to risk your life once every minute then and would coincide with spirit vessel a bit more.
You do need a direct damage spell though. It would improve the build SO MUCH more. So much so that I recommended removing soul harvest for it... that's how good it is. You could replace Acid Cloud with the direct damage rune but acid cloud isn't a spammable spell. You still don't have anything to do 100% of the time and time spent not casting spells is lost dps.
BTW soul harvest loses a lot of it's effectiveness if you aren't spamming spells. The less spells you cast the less benefit you gain from soul harvest. You'll gain the benefit for your 2 dots that you cast and then what... are you really planning on spamming acid cloud (a 172 mana spell) for a crappy 100% damage aoe? You'd be much better off with firebomb because that's a spell you can actually spam without running out of mana after 3 casts.
Assuming I don't take what's being said into consideration is pretty insulting, I try and disprove what's said with counter arguments which I think I have done quite well. A 10k heal and massive dps boost on a maximum of 12 second cooldowns with Soul Harvest to me is a set ability. I've stated before I'm considering dropping Blood Ritual for Jungle Fortitude so I'm not arguing that possibility.
I've also stated the uses of Acid Cloud in my previous posts and consider it as a hybrid spam direct damage/dot abilty (which it is unruned).
I don't know if it's just me, but I'm sure skiled players will be able to use this build effectively. Pets are absolutely not required for WD's no matter how much you preach the difficulty of inferno. If the monsters are in fact hitting that hard, then your pets will die quickly and then what? The same logic can be used. I've made my share of pet builds and they all sacrifice damage for pet survivability which leads me to believe these builds are comparable.
I still don't understands peoples gripe with Spirit walk, I think I had this same conversation at some point with DH fanatics about Smoke Bomb and its extreme utility ( I love smoke bomb).

I didn't agree with his build completely though, you'd notice that I actually threw firebomb in mine. I didn't just say oh, you right! either, I provided my thoughts and ideas as to why I liked it more so than others. I didn't just say, o, your build sucks, no pets kthx...
As far as the mobility goes, I understand that you have to be still to throw a spell.. but that doesn't stop you from casting a large aoe dot and the locust swarm that spreads on its own (set it and forget it) then moving around and to better position. This could probably be facilitated by using atk spd items to get the casts off faster and move speed to keep out of way.
Theres also the grasp of the dead that I think is being underestimated. It lasts 8 seconds on 8 second cooldown. with grave injustice you could potentially have several up at a time. It might be difficult though with the small radius on it and trying to actively avoid the monsters though.

a ) Blizzard said so on numerous occasions
b ) common fucking sense... meat shield = good.
A QUADRILLION MAGIC FIND is worthless if you can't kill shit!
