So the question is, will Blizzard have this fixed, or are they stating that they WON'T support the latest patch?
I mean, that'd be a bummer if you could not, ever update past 12.3. And a very strang move on Blizzard's part.
This might not be on Blizzard's part at all. Lots of times ATI ruin their own drivers for tons of games at a time. That means Blizz might not support 12.4 but if the issue is fixed in 12.5 they'll, of course, support it.

See the thing is, a driver update can never introduce such an issue as to make a game unplayable. At most it's some texture glitch here and there.
So now the question is - will Blizz rather lock out thousands or even millions of players due to a minor driver bug, or will they let them in and wait while ATI releases a fix?
You obviously haven't played Rage when it released.
Yeah, with drivers which literally burn video cards dead, that Nvidia?
Haha, owned.

ive been using ati/amd for the last 10 years and have never had any significant problem with drivers not working. this is just a temporary problem.
Yes, only temporary, but come the 15th, there's going to be a shit storm. Catalyst always checks for the latest version, and when it finds it, will ask you if you'd like to update. Naturally, you click yes, right? 12.4 hit a week or so ago, and only a small amount of players will actually know of this problem.
It's gonna be a rough week for tech support. Hopefully, the guided self-help will help most people out.

"The Unchosen" Pain of Admirance Sigil (For those without -Feat of Strength-):
@Bashiok Could you PLEASE make a fix/patch to support AMD 12.4 drivers :(? @robcooper90 If you use XP32, or have a 4650 card or better, use 12.4. Everyone else should use 12.3. AMD is aware and working on a fix.
HAHA! Great! My PC is a HD5870, my wife's laptop is a HD4650! All I gotta do is put ma feet up and wait!
I have the HD5870 as well, and I'm almost tempted to buy an Nvidia 680 GTX. I like my current card, but I'm rather annoyed with ATI's driver support overall. The 680 has some really low power consumption as mentioned earlier in this thread, and I'm ready to go back to give Nvidia another try.
I may have a goofy pc... But, a couple days ago, I had upgraded to 12.4. Then, my beta client displayed the "unsupported" message. Was about to downgrade to 12.3 / 12.2 today. Gave the beta one more shot. Now, I can get to the log in screen (servers down of course).
Wonder if something is flaky on my pc, or, if something was stealth changed already.
In any event, I am sitting on copies of 12.3 / 12.2 and am ready to downgrade if I have issues on the 15th.
We've recently become aware that playing Diablo III with the latest Catalyst 12.4 drivers for ATI cards may cause some visual artifacts for specific hardware configurations. This issue affects users of ATI Radeon HD 2400, 2600, 2900, 3400, 3600 and 4500 graphics cards under Windows Vista and Windows 7. ATI Radeon HD 4600, 4700, 4800, 5000, 6000 and 7000 series products are unaffected, as is Windows XP.
ATI is aware and investigating. Until a solution can be provided we recommend those affected use the Catalyst 12.3 drivers.
Finally a clarification. Have a 6000 series myself so I'm quite happy with this news.
Thank god it wasn't some dumb reason either. I have a 6950 might upgrade to a 7970 later so this is great news for me.

Not even Death will save you from Diablo Bunny's Cuteness!
I'm not sure if anyone around here knows how to change video drivers properly, so heres a good way (I didn't mean to sound cocky, just trying to help):
1- Download the program called "Driver Sweeper";
2- Go to Control panel and uninstall your old video driver (in this case, the 12.4 - if you are on the list with video problems and stuff);
3- Before you reboot your system, run the Driver Sweeper and check the box called "AMD Display" and then hit "Analyze" (see the image);
4- After the results, check all the boxes and hit "Clear" or whatever the button to clear all the old driver files is called (my program is running the brazilian portuguese version, sorry);
5- Reboot your system and now install the 12.3 version of Catalyst.
But before all that, I would sugest you all to make a restore point, just in case something goes bad (never hapened to me, but who knows?! I don't want angry users calling me names).
There's been a fix for this issue as per blue post recently.

Update
This issue has now been resolved in the AMD Catalyst 12.4a hotfix driver. Users of the ATI Radeon HD 2400, 2600, 2900, 3400, 3600 and 4500 graphics cards are the only AMD customers who need to download this hotfix driver.

Doez, did you make sure to uninstall 12.4 first before installing 12.3? If not the driver will stay at 12.4.

I thought I did, but I could be wrong. I'll have to check it out tonight. Thanks for the catch.

How, exactly, do you go about removing 12.4?
Also, my Cat control center says I have 12.3...But my Beta gave me the error.
Weird.
