Wtf blizzard. They are really going to release an expansion to this unfinished disappointing game before fixing it in the first place? Not with me buddy. Everything's gonna be awesome and amazing again like blizzcon prior to release and we gonna get a soup of yesteryears pork knuckle because it tastes so good. Diablo is dead, bitches! Roll me further.
1.09 comes out before the xpac. This patch will address the most grievous of needs and should make huge strides in prep for the xpac launch.
You CLEARLY don't give a fuck. You CLEARLY are just a troll who enjoys beating his own chest.
LoD made Diablo 2 go from vanilla and "typical" of the ARPG genre to the best ARPG ever made. RoS.....history will judge it and there are many of us whom hope it takes D3 to where it belongs.
Well thats the thing, they keep saying loot 2.0 will be bundled with a bunch if other changes. If any of their other titles can be looked back upon for guidance, I think loot 2.0 + will drop right at expansion time. This will give everyone the update whether they get the expansion or not, and it makes complete sense to overhaul arguably the most crucial pillar of the game when the expansion drops.
Because of this (and the fact they said it wouldn't be until after blizzcon) that we won't see loot 2.0 until December at least. But if there's an Exp to come next to it, I can wait
Heh, it's really fun feeling like it's back to the pre-beta days once again where people are looking for clues and signs in the most trivial of things! I agree that it's hard not to get excited by it all, but I'm too aware that Blizzard know people dissect everything they offer and put misleading information or little things to tease that often have no real meaning. Not to spoil the fun of course
I'm hoping that the Loot 2.0 will come much before the expansion rather than just a quick fix a month before (eg. pre-WoW expansion changeover). While I expect that they'll lead with the expansion announcement at Gamescom (lighting, atmosphere, cinematic trailer for the big entrance) I'm hoping that they at least touch on the subject of fixing the current D3 before the expansion. While I'll be excited for the expansion for sure, I'll be less stoked if I know I'll have to wait until it's released before they'll fix the majority of big problems affecting the game. Especially when the usual trick is to allow a year for hype building and testing. And we all know how stable Blizzard release dates are.
All that aside, I'm really looking forward to hearing the details of the expansion - which class(es) they're going to add, any new mechanics, new gems, new item types (runewords or similar maybe?), artisan additions and changes, paragon changes and of course who the big bad ass is at the end,
With the question of how level 60 characters with paragon levels will be treated with a new level cap, I expect this will be solved by adjusting the paragon system when the expansion is out. I think it would be the best time to change it round (to account wide or whatever crazy idea they're thinking).
Just like they promised so many things in D3 that was never in the final release. Heck we even had lost things that were in beta that never made it to this day.

How about a long act where you search where the black soulstone fell down? In the jungles of kurast or where the witchdoctors live (maybe amazon isles too?) And then in a short act fight some corrupted angels.
After watching that ending cinematic frame by frame, I'm fairly confident that the Black Soulstone disintegrates completely as opposed to falling back towards Sanctuary. Sure it's the last thing to dissolve, but it's quite obvious it turns into dust and doesn't continue falling.
I think the Lords of Hell will appear again in the second expansion, in which we try to rescue Leah's soul from the Black Abyss. After all the Lord of Hell return there whenever they are defeated (they can't be killed, only trapped), and we know for a fact that's where Leah is and that we will try an save her (devs mentioned this).
I think the Dirgest Jewel Covetous mentions might come into play somehow and we might try to use it to trap the evils.
I think the release of the xpack is a logistical nightmare by itself, adding a very important patch to could be apocalyptic...
I assumed Loot 2.0 will be auto-in xpac. While those who can't/won't buy the xpac asap will have the patch downloadable through the client so they can get to enjoy Loot 2.0 without buying the xpac.
At first glance it doesn't seem anymore difficult than just release an xpac without the patch. I don't know anything about the logistics of these things.

That sounds logical. Patch out same day as expac.

They do it all the time with WoW. Everyone gets the updated patch with skills and whatnot, and if you get the xpac you get the new content.

I know the BlackSoulstone was made by Kulle but isn't it written that Soulstones can only be destroyed at the Hell Forge?

Yep. There's no way just falling from the sky would destroy the soulstone, when before we had to travel to hell to use a special friggin hammer on a special forge.

I miss quest unique items. I loved Arkaine's Valor back in D1, it always felt like an upgrade. I also thought Khalim's Will was cool (pretty weak though).

I thought the exact same thing initially but just watch the cinematic, and make sure it's in very high definition. You can clearly see the black soulstone disintegrate to the point that it is just dust and it floats away. When the shot cuts away, there is nothing there.
2. There is also an interesting passage that suggests Tyrael flees the High Heavens after Diablo's defeat at the end of D3, citing he is tormented by the deaths of his comrade and burden with guilt.
It's clearly an amalgamation of the three Prime Evils with;
-Diablo's torso and back spikes -Mephisto's upward pointing horns -Baal's lower half
Is this a hint at the final showdown?
4. Thanks to Crim for pointing this one out! On the actual insight editions page there is a picture of a new demon and the filename suggesting his name is "Malthus";
Malthus / Maltheal.. coincidence? Or is this the fallen angel of Wisdom in demon form? Maybe it could be a new type of monster in the expansion, a demonic minion of Maltheal perhaps?

The Black Soulstone seems to survive according to the storyboard. (And I think I remember 'blue' posts around when the game came out clarified that it did) However, Tyrael told us if we didn't smash it, the Evils would be reborn. We didn't smash it (and it turns out we're the ninnyhammers that tossed it over, still in Diablo) and if Leah's soul is in the Abyss (according to Metzen) then the Evils' must be as well.
Tyrael also said that the Soulstone was flawed and wouldn't be able to hold them for long (so we know they can be free without the Soulstone being destroyed at the end). It was explicitly stated that it can hold the souls of demons and angels, so there's seemingly no way it's been destroyed already since if it was, they might as well have never even bothered creating that aspect of its lore.

Oh I know what the lore suggest, trust me. I was adamant that the Soulstone fell towards Sanctuary as well. I'm just pointing out that in the cinematic, it is actually shown disintegrating into nothing. It doesn't continue falling, it turns to dust before the shot cuts.
That storyboard doesn't really indicate anything, as the soulstone indeed was shown falling as the storyboard suggests, but it disintegrates shortly afterwards.
When did Tyrael say that if we didn't smash it that the evils would be reborn? (just out curiosity). I know this is what the lore suggests and is what we did in D2, but I can't recall it ever being said in-game in Diablo 3.
Also, if the souls of the Lords of Hell are indeed still within the Black Soulstone somewhere then they wouldn't have returned to the Black Abyss (with Leah) as they usually do upon defeat. The whole original purpose of the soulstones was to act as a prison and trap the Evils instead of letting them return to the Black Abyss to be reborn and rebuild their power.
This is further highlighted in the "Wrath" animated short when Imperius kills Diablo instead of keeping him captive.

He tells us in his dialogue in Act III.
The Flawed Stone Available at the start of the Quest: The Siege of Bastion's Keep (Act III)
Available after listening to Kulle's Black Soulstone conversation. Tyrael:
The Black Soulstone was created to be an improvement over the original three. They were crafted to contain single demons, but Kulle intended his to hold many.
But the Black Soulstone is flawed and cannot contain that many demons for long. We must capture Azmodan within it and shatter it... lest all these Evils be reborn.
What you're talking about (the Black Soulstone 'disintegrating') was what the 'blue' post was about, I think. I loaded up my game and you can definitely see it falling in one piece, and if you look closely, you can see the trail of smoke still going down as it moves into the cloud bank.

Agreed. I always wanted that Darker edgy style for Diablo 3. The billions of demons and corpses just didn't quite do it for me.
But now that we know the title, we can confirm that the game will be Darker and edgy.

Jafar just got glasses. Could be trouble with his new improved vision.

The new article about pre-sales on the Book of Cain revealed some interesting new tidbits with pictures and such;
1. There is a weird link to a excerpt that references "familiar" faces;
http://i.imgur.com/xFUlQXn.jpg
What does that mean?
2. There is also an interesting passage that suggests Tyrael flees the High Heavens after Diablo's defeat at the end of D3, citing he is tormented by the deaths of his comrade and burden with guilt.

I didn't think so before, but could Tyrael become some type of antagonist? Perhaps joining Malthael and Imperius?
3. We have some great concept art that seems to depict the "Prime Evil" in all it's glory;
