Yeah, normal is cakewalk, higher difficulties provide more challenge, and are just more fun to play on HC. Also, you can't drop the difficulty in-game when playing a hardcore character, keep that in mind. Good hunting!Quote from eman41
On normal you will have no issues, even starting from scratch. In fact, I would reccomend Expert just so it goes a little faster. If things get dicey, just drop it back down.Quote from phatosen
Anyone with experience from PTR who can say anything about general difficulty? For example, is it harder or easier to level a hardcore to 60 in patch 2.0.1? On the new Normal difficulty, of course. -

They're probably not going with moba because they're going to make it so extremely casual that it couldn't be fairly titled as one.Quote from overneathe
or as Blizzard like to define the game themselves - Hero Brawler.
But I'll definitely try it out, it will probably turn out to be a fun way to spend 30 minutes of your day, have a quick match or two without the stress that comes with a hardcore game like Dota. -

its not clear but i think the Adventure mode should be unlocked ONLY if at least 1 character has played and finished the entire single campaign in ANY difficulty.
Blizzard devs have stated that this is indeed how Adventure mode is unlocked in D3. So, no worries. xD -

You mean the same dupes and cheats that are reports to happen now and are spread in the internet? And what you mean no use?! The mod capability for custom user content will be open, you won't die due to lag or disconnect in hardcore any more, you get to play with no internet, lan parties, smoother gameplay, etc... Yes there are many uses to offline mode. I agree it may still be early for it but it sure should not be cut from the list.
The amount of duping in the PC version of D3 is minimal, it's nothing compared to what it would be if it ever went offline. The only thing that's rampant is botting, but that is a whole different story. Also, I have long accepted that modding will not be a part of Diablo 3, and even though I realize such a feature would keep the game fresh for a long time, it is something I can certainly live without if the original content is good enough.
Of course it would be amazing to play without latency, rubberbanding and fear of disconnects, especially since I mostly play hardcore, but it seems to me that Blizzard will never do an offline mode for D3.
PoE is always online as well, and Blizzard seems to be taking the route GGG took, probably offering us an in-game store to buy transmorg stuff, vanity pets, dyes and so on, now that the AH is going to be shut down. I firmly believe they intend to keep Diablo 3 online only for good, and that people should just learn to accept that and move on. -
Sep 19, 2013EleSaturate posted a message on Confirmed: D3 Will Stay Online, iOS Update May Reset Authenticators, Clarification on the AH, Paragon 2.0 Q&AGood. Offline mode is really not that needed, nor are the dupes and cheats that are always sure to follow it. It would be nice to have it as a feature, but many people would never have any use of it except for when they are traveling or something.Posted in: News

Oh yeah...I forgot. Aside form the Act, the class, the mystic, we also have 10 additional character levels and with it new skills with their corresponding runes for the expansion.
I hope there's more than that though. The free patch (Loot 2.0, Paragon 2.0, Nephalem Trials, Loot runs) looks really great so the expansion needs to bring something more than that unless the expansion is really light and costs 25% of the vanilla like phatosen said, I mean D2:LoD had the runewords which broken as they are, changed D2 forever.
Blizzard will definitely announce more expansion content at Blizzcon. That's the place for which you save the juiciest info.
Josh stated that they picked only a few topics to talk about at Gamescom, and that there's a lot more to the expansion. Also, whoever thinks the game will cost less than 40$ is quite delusional. xD - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

I'm afraid Blizzard could be stumped about the ladder system. They've only mentioned it once, in an interview a few months ago, and have kept completely silent about it ever since. The maximum number of character slots is too limited for any kind of ladder or race system that would allow your characters to return to non-ladder at the end of the ladder season. Also, there's absolutely no indication on how the system would actually work in D3, and what plans they have for it. I'm guessing no one at Blizzard would want to simply have a D2 type of ladder, they are probably trying to do something at least somewhat similar to PoE, or anything that would at least marginally evolve upon the idea of the D2 ladder.
Honestly, it was an addition I was most excited about with the expansion. It adds to the longevity of a game that will still desperately need some, even more so if the rates on the smart drops remain reasonably high. If we don't hear anything about it in the next two months, I don't know... Gonna keep my expectations low on this one.

Considering the ramifications the system will have on end game, smart item drop rates shouldn't go above 10%, and that's being generous. You'll still have a nice solid chance to get an item suited for you without that system, and finding items for your other characters has always been a big part of this genre of games. The lower they keep the chance of a smart item dropping the better for this game in the long run.
Its still early to say that Blizzard will go full instant gratification, console mode with RoS, but its most surely something to be considered. Whatever happens, in a few months you'll finally be sure if they want this game to be a deeper ARPG or just a casual farm fest.

Leveled a couple of new characters on PTR, Story Mode of course, and every act boss dropped a legendary on the first kill. Don't know if it's 100%, but it sure seems so.

Thumbs up for the idea, real simple and effective, would definitely come in handy.

Considering the amount of hours of gameplay a new class, act and adventure mode will offer, 40$ seems like a good deal. If you simply enjoy farming, maybe trying some fresh builds with the new legendaries, than RoS is definitely worth the money on launch. All these aspects of the game are polished and work great in the expansion, along with the streamlined leveling system.
Other than that, the game doesn't really offer much, and it seems that it will sadly once again get pretty boring after a couple of weeks (mostly for softcore players). So, if it does feel like 40$ is too expensive for you at the time of the launch, and you have better things to spend your money on, it's OK to wait a bit and see how everything will play out in the weeks after the game is released. Even when, or if, ladders and competitive PvE are released, the players who got the expansion on day one won't have any real advantage over a player who bought the game later on.
Better to wait than to get frustrated for spending money on something you won't really enjoy that much. This time, Blizzard made the right move to make all of the content public months before the release, and no one will be right to blame them or to ask refunds for the game like they did with the original D3. RoS will mostly sell copies on it's own virtues and quality of design, which is a good thing, while D3 earned a lot of millions solely on the legendary legacy of the Diablo franchise.
