is plain stupid, how is it ''fun'' to wait for 30+ seconds to rez? they need to change this because this isn't WoW... i'm getting annoyed as hell when I die multiple times agains't a elite and have to wait to continue playing, they could have though of something else to punish death, not something that makes me wanna throw my computer away...
maybe it's just me but when I die I want to be where i was ASAP to have my revenge and kill the mobs that killed me, not to wait 30+ seconds before doign so..., I understand the ''need'' in WoW but it's not here in Diablo no one is gonna PK you...

Be glad you don't drop all the gear you had equipped every time you die, get stuck back in town, and become forced to run back naked to retrieve your gear.

I grew up gaming without internet forums. The entire phenomenon of being upset with a game developer makes no sense to me. No sense. I cannot imagine spending my time and energy being upset about something I choose to do for recreation.
well i guess its a balance issue to keep you from grinding them down 1 hp per death at a time...
and if you are at 30+ sec you really should consider skipping the pack btw
While this is true... i doubt that i'm the only moron to drag a couple of packs on top of my checkpoint....
let me emphasize MORON before i get flamed too bad

Or be forced to lose XP, which could drop you down a level. LOL Classic EQ FTW!

considering 30 sec+ is like 3-4 deaths i'd be throwing away the towel way too easily, also I like to kille everything

I actually liked D2 deaths that was punishing but still allowed you to run back in the fray as soon as you died
I don't understand. Most deaths in D2 took more than 30 seconds to run back to EVERYtime. And on top of this you couldn't just run back in when the pack is near your body as you run NAKED back to your corpse. Come now... Corpse running is 100% worse.
Or is this more of the bot running folks with scripts to TP up a portal and leave the game type stuff that you somehow include into the basic design of the game?
I wasn't referring to the difficulty levels, since the OP was talking about rez cooldown. I was referring to no loss of XP and naked corpse runs like EQ had. tyvm

Only if you had a pre-emptive town portal active. Otherwise, you could easily spend 2 minutes running back to your corpse if you happened to die between waypoints.

if you forgot to open a portal soon before dying yes, but I took the habit of opening a town portal whenever i saw somethign that could cause problems thus I was immidiatly back where my corpse was (or very near at least) and even if you didn't you are not simply here stalking at an immobile screen doing nothing, you were playing at least...

Two things that you seem to not know about, which is required in Inferno;
1: Play better
2: Get better gear
how can I ''play better'' if I die because of Jailers+mortars, and have nothing available to move away/absorb it, no matter how I play I will always one time or an other get stucked in a jail and not being able to Diamond Skin/Teleport away and die while I won't be able to do a thing. (BTW i do have illusionist but it dosen,t seem to trigger on mortars)

Sometimes I miss having those preemptive town portals. lol
Your OP was about declaring the design stupid, and asking how it could possibly be fun.
You clearly don't like the answers, but that's a subjective issue.

Yeah, well, that's the point now isn't it? If you are waiting 30+ seconds over and over again it means that you simply aren't good and/or geared enough for the content you are facing. Removing the timer would mean that you could easily kite a pack back to your spawn point, whittling down their HP between deaths until they are dead. This is exactly why there is a timer to begin with.
It's not "stupid", it's there to keep players like you from killing packs they shouldn't be able to kill. And no, 30+ seconds is not "3-4 deaths", it's far more than that.
An escalating respawn timer is a clear indicator that you're doing something wrong, or you aren't geared enough for what you're trying to accomplish.
It's better than letting you insta-respawn, and blowing through 25k gold in repairs first.
if I wan't to blow up 25k in repairs in 5 minutes that's my problem no? and there's escalating and escalating, first 3 seconds then 8 then 15 then 30 then 45...
go play hardcore, there is no respawn timer AT ALL! seriously, these softcore edit:whiners annoy me.
and HC elitist annoys me, I won't play HC for several reasons:
Lag, sorry but losing a lvl 60 character because I hit Teleport/Diamond Skin BEFORE the hit but still got caught in it and killed, isn't my opinion of fun...
always online: i'm not whining about always online, but losing a character because I had a disconection isn't ''fun'' either
hotfixes not announced: I can only gues how fun it must have been for those wizard in HC that got one shotted through Force armor the dya the fixes came in, or those DH who got killed during the 2nd second of SS that dosen,t exist anymore but still was written as a 2 2nd duration until just recently...
and finally elitist like you who believes HC is the way to go, that SC sucks etc, gives me really no incentive to join that ''elitist'' class of people.
i am not an elitist (whatever that means). all your reasons not playing hardcore is valid. but even though sometimes it sucks, i don't whine whenever i die because of lag or hotfix or whatever. it is part of the game. if i die because of lag, it means that i wasn't careful enough and pop my diamond skin right before i die. or i don't have enough HP that i would get 1-shotted. or i rely so much on my passives that saves my life instead of relying on gear and planning. if i die because of disconnection, well still part of the game, just hope it doesn't happen again.
you see, HC players just have a different approach to the game, also reflects in real life. i don't whine about small stuff like this. if something bothers me so much, the best that i could do is post a suggestion through official channels or just play around it. the same thing in real life, i don't whine because gas prices are way too high, i just ride my bike to work every once in a while (only costs me a few hours of not playing diablo3).

Yes! Coming up with a game plan is awesome.
Only if you had a pre-emptive town portal active. Otherwise, you could easily spend 2 minutes running back to your corpse if you happened to die between waypoints.

The game is hard. Find a way. Could be strat. Could be build. Could be gear. Either way, change something, or skip pack if you can.
