So I am a level 60 DH trying to farm Act 4 Hell to better my gear for Inferno. I read the forums every day and just see all the people crying.. Well here is my experience -
When I join a game and you see me leave immediatly thats because your stats are horrible and you shouldn't be trying to play that far into the game. Thats why everyone is crying about having trouble with inferno. My level 51 barb has more stats than 90% of these level 60's trying to finish Hell. I wish more of these people played wow or something and understood you can't do heroic raids until you're geared. Diablo 3 is not a playthrough game once you get to the end of hell and Inferno.
Once you're level 60 go farm stuff from earlier in Hell, 5 Stack Neph buff = 100's of thousands of gold per hour + all the yellows you could want. Thats why my barb is OP because I farmed for him and now he is a beast. As for my DH well I tried to play through the game like everyone else and it was way way hard until I started getting a few drops, then it became manageable. Yeah so what people have beat Inferno, there are gamers our there that surpass skills of 95% of the gaming community, let them do what they do and you do what you do.
I'd agree. I don't know why gearchecks suddenly seem hard for people to get their heads around.
It's hardwired into the Diablo series. D2 gave you massive resistance penalties with each ascending difficulty. Without major resist gear, you weren't going anywhere.
It's a game built around grinding/farming. Of course you're going to be one-shot if you're not ready. That's kind of the whole point.

I grew up gaming without internet forums. The entire phenomenon of being upset with a game developer makes no sense to me. No sense. I cannot imagine spending my time and energy being upset about something I choose to do for recreation.
Why do you assume we don't have gear if we complain about getting 1 shot? The problem is that you need Act 2 and 3 gear before you stop getting 1 shot in Act 2. It doesn't matter if you have good gear from farming Act 1.
I honestly wanted to start this thread so all the people crying could come and see that, you're just doing it wrong. Its week one, I've logged over 100 hours.
Give it time guys, group up with friends (thats what I did because they get drops which could be awesome for you and you could get awesome gear for them) 4 people kill a boss, well that could be like 8 yellows vs the just the 2 you got. But if solo play is your style, start learning the Auction House. Please try not to craft cause 40k a craft + 4 mats for a random chance, go spend 40-80k in the AH and get exactly what you want!

Not true, Hell gear can be better than Inferno, a level 20 blue can be better than a level 60 blue. Its how the random rolls on gear works in this game.. Now a lot of people don't agree with that, and I don't to a certain point, I think they need to narrow down the random properties to be more level specific, but the point is, if you get some awesome rolls then you're good to go. How do you think my level 51 Barb has more stats than any of these 60's I join public games with? Hours of farming and getting top end rolls on the gear.
+1 to OP cos this is how going from hell to inferno should work.
Not quite at inferno yet but glad to hear the game is working as expected, hard to judge sometimes with all the rage out there. I realize that there are some issues with itemization of Legendary's and a too heavy reliance on DPS only but I'm sure that will get worked out with patches. (Just not as slow as D2 was)
PS. Holy cow, 100k-200k an hour, no wonder the AH is so crazy with the gold prices.
I farmed a few hours got like 50+ yellows and over 400k, 5 stack neph buff = 600-800 gold a drop. Bosses drop 3 yellows and 6 blues with that buff
BTW Emyln - Don't believe those AH prices, they're all lies, no one in the game has multiple millions to spend on a item. A fair item price for level 50 stuff is like 10-20k and level 60 is like 50-80k, everything over that is just retarted and their stuff isn't selling. I throw stuff on the AH for like 5-10k cause it sells quick and its better than vendoring it for 400g

Why do you assume you've seen the best gear you can get from act 1, after 1 week total of play?

What kind of build are you working with? I was having an off day when I got home yesterday and was just getting tore up by Hell mobs. Even Act 1 champions. lul...
I think my weapon at this point is floating at around 260dps maybe.. Can't quite remember. Blizzard get Character Profiles working!

You apparently didn't understand what I wrote. My well rolled int, vit, + resist gear from Act 1 does not allow me to survive in Act 2 Inferno... which was my point. Inferno gear IS better than previous level gear if it's well rolled. That is a fact.
My DH build is focused on surving atm, immobilize trap, Smoke Screen, Prep, Entangingling shot with + hatred regen, multishot with fire at will for groups and impale with stun/knockback for single target. Now your wep may need upgraded, my 2h bow is over 600 dps. My level 51 barbs 1h is almost a 300 dps.

Cool thanks. Yeah I'm right at 53 or 54 right now. Build looks pretty similar to yours. Need to look at the rest of my stats. Might have just been an off night. Too many real life distractions. Just felt squishy last night for some reason.
It's not the farm or anything like that I dislike, it's the lack of choice. Inferno is just "you must have gear with these stats to progress" and that sort of constraint makes 99% of the loot I find that should be good, utter rubbish.

Well, that's kinda the point. You're meant to having to farm Act 1 for quite a while until you have good enough gear to progress to the next act. Of course not all magic+ loot will be good enough, that would be pointless. And once you reach the next act you have upgrade most of the gear you got in the previous act by doing alot of farming. There's tons of viable stat and skill builds for Inferno, so you're not forced to look for loot with only certain affixes.
Please tell me one build that isn't some sort of glitch that can do anything past act 1 without stacking resistances/vit/main stat is basically every slot.
In diablo 2 you was always farming for top gear, but there was stuff u could get inbetween which was still good due to the rareity of the best. Stuff like shaftstop, vmagi, pul rune etc. that was worth a fair bit because although not perfect it could still help you. In this that doesn't seem to exist, it's get gear with resistances, main stat and vita or stay in A1 forever meaning a lot of gear i find that SHOULD be good because it's high ilvl, useful stats simply isn't because it lacks those core parts.

What is an example of loot "that should be good"? I've had countless 6 and 7 stat yellows drop that only had 2 or 3 stats that I could actually benefit from. My 2c: Gold find is useless, health globe radius is useless when my resists are all practically 0, +health from globes is also useless when my resists are all practically 0, but great there's Vit, Str. and Int. on there. Whether a barb or a wiz uses that item, that's 1 main stat that is a waste. So I salvage or vendor it depending on if I'm low on gold or mats and move on. This is a total guess, but I don't think Blizzard intended for every item that drops to be amazing...

Ofcourse not every item should be useful, but at the same rate should 99% of the items u find be useless? Diablo 2 had semi-common gear that you could get while trying to get the best stuff and it still atleast felt like u was progressing. I've spent 4 days in act 1 inferno and i've yet to loot a single good item... Are you saying that is Blizzards plan, farm for days on end and gain nothing?
When D2 started most of the best gear were either Rare or a very lucky Blue item. Uniques only came in normal editions. LoD changed that and made Uniques and super high end runewords the best of the game. Highend runes were duped. Uniques were farmable by doing boss runs with nice amount of mf.
This is a diablo game and farming for gear is one of the main attractions for the series. Always on the hunt for an item that is just a little bit better but most of the time it is worse.
The sad thing is that the Auction House is at the moment overpowered with cheap gear that makes you overpowered for the first three difficulties and then when you hit Infernal you hit a brick wall.
Sadly I do not have the money for D3 at the moment so I am stuck playing the starters edition.

On Strike and supporting Fallout 4 Mod Makers
Some fallout 4 mod makers have had their mods stolen and uploaded and downloaded on Bethesda's site for the Xbox One.
That's all good, shwift, as long as you're happy with the idea of someone that doesn't care about the cash dropping a few bills owning your personal primo character in arena when it finally comes out in a few months.
They do what they do - make money - and you do what you do - grind in a game like a $2/hr kid somewhere deep in China.

You mean grinding gear to do inferno? I guess... not sure what that has to do with anything..
This whole thread was to point out, stop crying about it being hard and go get gear.. People in the games aren't doing good cause their gear sucks and you have to grind with neph buff to get the gear..
Why do you assume we don't have gear if we complain about getting 1 shot? The problem is that you need Act 2 and 3 gear before you stop getting 1 shot in Act 2. It doesn't matter if you have good gear from farming Act 1.
Not true, I just farmed the Butcher with 5x NV until I got good enough gear to be able to defeat Act 2 elite packs with ease. Now I'm at Act 3 and the Act 1 to Act 2 difficulty gap is repeating itself, so I'm farming Zoltun Kulle with 5x NV until I have good enough gear to own Act 3.
Well that's odd because I have a mixture of Act 1 and 2 gear but I still get 1 shot and my garg gets 2-3 shot by champs. I guess WDs just suck. I've farmed skele king the past week but he doesn't drop anything good ever. Does butcher drop better loot? I assumed not since all of Act 1 is level 60 mobs. I'm at the point where I no longer get upgrades. The only things I need an upgrade on are rings. I don't think that will make a huge impact in Act 2 if I pick up 2 solid rings that get me about +80 resist, +50 vit more than I already have. It might turn my 1 shot character into a 2 shot character? yay? It will still be a kite fest.
Mitigation around 60% from armor, 60% from resists 30k hp 15k-20k dps.... dead. Add a shield? Still dead. Add all of the WD defensive passives... still dead. The only way to survive is to kite every single mob... how fun!
