Having the game be b-net only will NOT stop hacks/bots/dupes/etc. It only took hackers 2 weeks to crack EA's online-only thing with Assassin's Creed 2 after it was released. All Blizzard is doing with this decision is alienating a portion of their fanbase(no matter how big or small that portion may be). This issue doesn't even affect me personally and I can see why some people would be PISSED.
The ability to hack in D2 has nothing to do with its offline mode, it is simply an old game with an old server structure. Removing offline mode was not done to prevent hacking, and if it would make a return it would not mean the return of hacking. I just want to point that out.
You do realize they stated the exact opposite of what you just posted... They said that the removal of offline play was to stop hacking... Have you not watched the reviews at all?
I agree 100% botting and hacking will be in the game regardless of offline or not, so just give us offline and make the game accesable to all...

Thats actually not what he's saying at all. I think he proved that much at this point.
Or someone did anyway.
I may of missed where he clarified but upon re-reading, that is the main argument. Having a D2 Closed Bnet style system prevents hacks and pirating and etc. If I misread/misunderstood it, I appologize. If I didn't misread/misunderstand it, then he's incorrect.
of course they wont, people will find a way around it. There is no reason to remove offline play... I'm sure someone will find a way to crack it so you can play offline anyway so I dont understand why blizzard is doing this.

An offline mode would of course not be allowed to play over b.net and would have it's data on the local pc.
This you could hack, but to no effect on the b.net players. So as Ophion said, no - offline mode not included has nothing to do with b.net safety. Those two would exist totally independent of each other.
I disagree b/c the way I understand it is people use the single player mode to figure out how the b.net mode works and there fore they can hack there way in.
I figure out how to give my single player Witch Doctor a super awesome chest piece. Yay. I do not have access to my multiplayer Witch Doctor to give said super awesome chest piece to.

You are actually completely wrong. For those of you who aren't familiar with game development/how games work, here's an important fact: an offline mode would require all game data and much of the server code to be stored directly in the game client.
One of the most important things about having no offline mode is that the client/server architecture can be constructed in a way that ensure the client gets very little information, and most of data is stored server side. I imagine things such as items, all player related data, abilities, stash, etc. to all be server-side information that the game client (user) only receives the bare minimum amount of information. This makes hacking, reverse engineering, etc. much more difficult (notice I said difficult, not impossible), as well as trackable/detectable by Blizzard.
You may tout is as DRM, what have you, but this decision was not made to prevent "piracy." All signs point to this decision being made to ensure that D3 is as secure as possible from hacking, botting, etc., and to prevent Auction House abuse. And really, this is no different that Guild Wars, or (the old) HoN, or any of the myriad of other Buy-To-Play multiplayer only games.
THIS. Exactly what I was gonna say. Well put.

I don't know how you think hackers are going to create a single player portion of Diablo 3 out of thin air. It doesn't work like that. Also, Assassins Creed 2 was made by UBISoft, not EA.
With how good the crackers/hackers are now aday, we will have single player offline mode within 2 weeks. People who would have bought the game for single player only will resort to downloading it, and the people who want to hack b-net will also download it. I will be buying the game for multiplayer, but if someone cracks it so I can play single player offline, I will also be downloading the game because fact is, I travel a lot, and do not always have internet and it's rediculous that they are forcing you to only play with internet. It is a stupid business plan that will not do anything but make them lose money from potential single player players, and still do nothing to thwart hackers because they will just download the cracked version which hackers will have figured out how to falsely emulate the battle net server and provide your own server from your computer.

No, we will not. They need a single player to actually hack their way into and it doesn't exist in Diablo 3.
I guess I missed the part where single player was eliminated all together, I thought you just had to have an active internet connection to play single player.

It's there, but not in the same way that it is for Starcraft 2. Large portions of the game are still server side, as are your characters.
I will eat a hat if it turns out there is a single player crack for Diablo 3. Starcraft 2 has been hard enough for people to pirate, the current version can't be played by pirates.

I'm not a SC fan at all, but I do know it was cracked and playable before the game was even released. If there is a single player where you just have to have a verified account, it will get hacked. If there is no single player, then it's a terrible decision all together and a shame really.
It's perfectly possible Diablo 3 will be cracked, but I think highly unlikely. My bets are on it won't be. I think most people will realize that the game is multiplayer and buy it. Yeah Starcraft 2 was cracked early on, but once patches started coming out, piracy groups stopped caring about trying to crack it. If you try pirating Starcraft 2 today, it's not possible.
hmm maybe the people who raging ARE the hackers lol cause what the hell is the big deal? There is almost wifi EVERYWHERE, not to mention portable modems from verizon, sprint, comcast.
I'm not worried about this at all. Blizzard has stated on multiple occasions during Blizzcon and other venues that they are very serious and concerned with these issues.
The new battle.net infrastructure is far more reliable than the previous one. Yes there are still hackers in SC2 but they are very rare, and they are swiftly thwarted.
It will be very difficult to bot because each bot has to pay for a CD key. It's also much more difficult for bots to come in and out of games quickly.

Online Mode - After one year - Mediocre or less bot & hacks (depending on how well the blizz anti-cheat team performs)

They can't remove everything from the game and make it all server side.
Stop exaggerating yourself, I never said that.
