So I got a brother who's doing this whole band of bud thing. http://www.bandofbuds.com/crews/profile/detroit/erwin_pub_crew

If you could take a minute or two and register on the site and become a fan of them, it would greatly help their chances of winning. If you have facebook you can also click the like button and that helps too. They are in 2nd place in the Detroit region, and I believe if they get into first they get to go to Vegas for something and a shot to win some money.

Man people are seriously underestimating the ability of the crackers. It might not happen as fast as I predicted, but I believe it was Spore where they literally had set up their own server to emulate the EA server to activate games. They will figure out a way. Hell, someone might even make a mod that does it instead of having to have crackers do it. But it will get done.
Thats laughable, How can you possibly compare Spore to Diablo 3 in terms of security.
How is it laughable? At it's time, spore was said to be just as hard to hack as they are making D3 sound. It's a legit comparison for a game that is what, 6-8 years old?

posted a message on 4 Player Game Limit?
4 players is perfect for a co-op hack n slash game. Generally when you were playing D2, did you actually have 8 people all in the same place, or did you generally break off into smaller groups? Most the time, 4 people would be doing all the work and the rest would be leeching if the entire room was filled. I would actually prefer the cap be however many classes there are, so each expansion would expand the cap hah, but oh well.

hmm maybe the people who raging ARE the hackers lol cause what the hell is the big deal? There is almost wifi EVERYWHERE, not to mention portable modems from verizon, sprint, comcast.

Yes, there is wifi everywhere. Generally not always free. modems from those carriers all cost like 30-40 bucks a month for a plan. I don't want to pay $50-60 for a game, then $30 a month for wifi so I can play it whenever I want. Yes, I probably spent 90% of my D2 playtime on B-net, but the other 10% was spent on single player, or doing LAN with friends. Now we literally can't do either. As people said earlier, what if your power goes out and you figure you can spend a bit playing on your laptop while you wait for it to get back on. There are many reasons I can think of playing a game without needing wifi.

Damn you D3, I will still buy you, but with much anger if you have to have internet to play single player.

With how good the crackers/hackers are now aday, we will have single player offline mode within 2 weeks.

No, we will not. They need a single player to actually hack their way into and it doesn't exist in Diablo 3.
I guess I missed the part where single player was eliminated all together, I thought you just had to have an active internet connection to play single player.

It's there, but not in the same way that it is for Starcraft 2. Large portions of the game are still server side, as are your characters.

I will eat a hat if it turns out there is a single player crack for Diablo 3. Starcraft 2 has been hard enough for people to pirate, the current version can't be played by pirates.

I'm not a SC fan at all, but I do know it was cracked and playable before the game was even released. If there is a single player where you just have to have a verified account, it will get hacked. If there is no single player, then it's a terrible decision all together and a shame really.

With how good the crackers/hackers are now aday, we will have single player offline mode within 2 weeks. People who would have bought the game for single player only will resort to downloading it, and the people who want to hack b-net will also download it. I will be buying the game for multiplayer, but if someone cracks it so I can play single player offline, I will also be downloading the game because fact is, I travel a lot, and do not always have internet and it's rediculous that they are forcing you to only play with internet. It is a stupid business plan that will not do anything but make them lose money from potential single player players, and still do nothing to thwart hackers because they will just download the cracked version which hackers will have figured out how to falsely emulate the battle net server and provide your own server from your computer.

The first thing that comes to my mind, is if you can sell items for ecurrency, or money, but can't convert ecurrency into money is what is to stop people from setting up multiple accounts, one of them stocking up ecurrency, and then buying their own items on the other account with it set up to be cash instead of ecurrency?

Seems like a pretty easy way to get your eccurency out of into your bank account.
Who said you cant convert. They said players WILL BE ABLE to sell their currency (gold) in RMAH. But the money they put into their Blizzard Purchase Account is non refundable. Only can beused to buy Blizzard products or ingame items.
So if you do stock up gold on your char you can still sell it for real money.

I strongly suggest you guys re-read the Official QnA from Blizzard on the home page

By default, money that people buy items for will be added to the sellers e-balance (or gold total, if they sell in gold). However, it will also be possible to set up your account so that it will be added your credit card. This will require adding a third party payment service to the account to handle the actual transaction. Blizzard is currently negotiating with potential companies at this point in regards to who will handle this service, so at this point we don't know who it will be or in what regions they will operate. However, it will be possible to make money selling items in Diablo III. What will not be possible, however, is to convert your e-balance back into cash. So if you sell an item and haven't set up your account to give you cash, it will increase your e-balance instead. That e-balance cannot later be withdrawn as cash, but it can be used to buy other items and anything in the Blizzard store, including games and WoW subscription time.

Doesn't this nicely written article with the bolded sentence say that it can't be converted back to real cash? Why should I go back and reread it? I think you just misunderstood my post and/or just pointed out another flaw to get around not being able to directly convert your e-balance into cash. I said set up multiple accounts and buy your other account's money, you said buy and resell gold for real money. Similar ideas, but both basically point out the flaw in not allowing you to withdraw e-balance.

posted a message on More Leeway with Set Items?
Here's my idea for set items.

Why not have set items be completely random with the exception of what the set bonuses are?

This would make every set item you find worthwhile, and make it worth having the full set as well. So basically they would be like random magic/rare items stat wise, but with set item bonuses. Also maybe make them have 1 or 2 stats that always stay the same. Also to go along with your idea of making different tier items if found on harder difficulties.

    A few examples

    "Merlin's Ring"
    +100-150 mana
    +10-20 Intelligence
+random stat (If found on normal)
+random stat (If found on nightmare)
+random stat (IF found on hell)

    Achille's Sword
    +200-300% Extra damage
    +20-30% Attack speed
+random stat (If found on normal)
+random stat (If found on nightmare)
+random stat (IF found on hell)

So you get better items for finding them in harder modes and set items could be viable for top end game items.

To me this fits the Diablo item system more, as I never was a fan of unique items all being the same, as if they are unique, shouldn't there only be one of them? But it also makes sense that famous items would be replicated, but never done exactly, which explains why they have a few of the same item stats, and then random stats spawn with it.

posted a message on Limitations of loot on different settings?
I hate matchmaking, it basically ruins the social aspect of the game.

The only true solution I can see to rewarding pvp is to do it per match. So it would be just like Call of duty, except if you get first place, you get XXX gold, YYY exp and a few random items, and then scale it for each person in the game. All rewards are catered to the average level of the people in the game, so you couldn't have a lvl 99 go into a game of 30s, own and get an awesome item.

Noone really liked this loot diferentiation in D2 (ladder only items).
I hope they don't add that. I think the max they should do is increased rates in HC.
I think this was to balance against losing your character on reset. Sorta. In theory.

As for PvP items, imo PvP should be just as rewarding as PvE. People shouldn't have to grind PvE to be efficient at PvP (or the other way around, like in the case of PvP exclusive items that are useful in PvE). So.... first of all, you should be able to get experience and gold by doing PvP. That's easy enough and fair enough to implement. Then... something to balance item drops. But I don't like the idea of seperate items for PvP or PvE - maybe just more gold to balance for not getting items?

My problem with PvP in RPG's is that I'm trying to make my character better. PvP seems to often be a time-waster in the sense that you're not improving your character. This is, imo, an oversight that should be fixed. Make both modes just as rewarding and I'll get into PvP much more, and much sooner.

The biggest problem with giving out pvp rewards is how easy it becomes to manipulate. You see games in CoD where people basically just take turns killing each other till someone gets one under the limit, then they rejoin and keep doing it.

There really is no way around this either, as if you are in a duel game you are going to be fighting the same people for awhile, so it's not like they could limit it to you only gain exp for the first time you kill someone. This is why I never agree on pvp having item drops and exp, just too easy to cheat the system. At least with pve you have to earn what you do, even if it's just leeching.

I wish if you died, all your stuff just dropped onto the ground. If you have friends in the game, they can pick it up and get it back to you on a new guy, but it should be treated the same as any other monster dying, all the loot should just be dropped.

This is my wish, if you die in hardcore, your items drop to the ground, and your character turns from HC to SC. If they have shared stashs, then you wouldn't have to worry about losing anything in your stash, so it'd work well and allow you the option to keep playing.

If I were to want anything, I would say to make it if you die in Hardcore, your character turns into a softcore character.

...this is a thousand times worse. You're basically removing hardcore with that idea.

Can't say it's any different than playing ladder, except the mentality of hardcore players being elitists. You play ladder because you want a fresh start and new items, but when the ladder ends everyone gets dumped back into non-ladder, you play hardcore because you want the challenge of being the best, if you die your character obviously can't play hardcore anymore, so most people who play HC would just start a new one, but for the player who wasn't too into it, they could just keep going with the game and not be out any time.
