Bear in mind that the build isn't meant to be efficient, but it does work.
The original video was done several months ago when my second wizard was just paragon 5. With some gear tweaks and now at paragon 100, the build is capable of handling MP10.
As with the original ninja wizard, the build basically works by having just enough mitigation and HP to stay alive, but proc Illusionist and Force Armor enough to let you spam Teleport and Mirror Image. Dexterity is mostly a stat included to match the "ninja" theme, but it does help in nullifying incoming damage enough for you to leech back life and/or reposition.
No Critical Mass. No Diamond Skin. No Frost Nova. No Archon.
also I just checked your profile and was shocked. way too many wasted rolls on your gloves, shoulders and WH, you really should upgrade.
Not sure what you're talking about. Read: I already made my point about stacking dexterity for evasion. And not quite sure what you mean by strength and armor being wasted rolls. They're there for a reason. 1. The build is designed to reflect a ninja, thus it requires mobility and evasion. 2. The build actually doesn't function as well without the evasion as you'll be taking too many attacks in the face; too many to allow you room/time to maneuver. 3. Already stated that this build isn't designed to be efficient.
Why do you have Conflagration and Cold Blooded in your passive skill selection?
Spectral Blades is the only non-elemental wizard spell, thus it takes on elemental effects from gear. I have cold bonus on my Tal Rasha's Allegiance and fire bonus on my Triumvirate.
Great video, Jaetch, and congrats on making her MP10-viable!
However, your gear really underlines D3's downfall: here you have an interesting character build (theme-wise, at least), that deviates from the norm, and what do you see? Basically the same gear you see everywhere else: Tal's amulet, Trium, black weapon, Lacuni's, Vile Ward, Witching Hour......sigh.
Sorry for bringing down the tone of the thread. Carry on.
At least I have Blackthorne's and hooker boots! ...
This looks like a lot of fun. It looks tactical and intriguing, instead of just the mindlessness of all the main builds we have currently. I hope and can't wait until builds like this are the playstyles inherited in the expansion.
I remember making my wizard wear a rare chest that went all the way to 800 total armor defense with 1 open socket, as well as 1 rare amulet that had an open socket. Both of these sockets, I used a star or higher green gem at the time, to boost my dodge chance % all the way to 33.4%.
My oldest theory that I put into either Critical Hit Chance theories, or Block Chance, or even Dodge Chance (as your video and caption mentioned about Dodge as being vital. I always told my friends or suggested about the total chance of "1 in 5 (20%), 1 in 4 (25%), 1 in 3 (33.5% to 35%), 1 in 2 (50%) for virtually any class... of course one could always end up between 39.5 to 45% and still do just fine comparing to actually hitting exactly 50%.
Anyhow, I really enjoy your emphasis on dodge for Wizard as I did use Dodge Chance as one build long time ago, like a 50k HP with 33.4% dodge chance, of course I never went into such detail of SKILLS, I thoroughly enjoy your awesome creativity and guidance every time I see your name.
We will definitely soon see this in action more and more. I have always loved dodge chance as an "extra pool" when I had used Crystal Shell, not only was I already spamming that ability, I am mitigating with the dodge chance, almost doubling its effect (not that the math sounded anything correct) but it just made my wizard seemed awesome especially for Stonefort and Fields of Slaughter at the time.

I agree. What build *isn't* viable at mp10 with absolute top of the line gear and paragon 100? But I'm glad it's not another CM/Archon build and look forward to RoS shaking up builds.
Jaetch: ".... Illusionist and Force Armor enough to let you spam Teleport and Mirror Image"
I've always fancied the Mocking Demise rune, however its shifting can either cause trouble or save oneself.
As far as this goes, I believe truly in Life Regeneration, I was a big fan of that, I remember Week 4 I played Witch Doctor with 2.4k Life Regen AND 9.3k Thorns while using a Passive (that I will mention therebelow) and I cannot wait to see how we can gear Life Regeneration (I really dont mind having an entirely different emphasis in gear, as I believe that when one uses a Passive, it should be a "Gear-oriented motivation".
What do I mean by that?
i) It's like "One with Everything"< so we seek to identify a Focus Resistance.
ii) It's like "Vengeance"< so we (for that, I mean especially myself, I do not simply go by its default advantage, I actually have a gear slot that has Health Globe Bonus and Pickup Radius to boost the Passive's tooltip.
iii) It's like "Critical Mass", we take into account as much as we can, the critical hit chance (chc), gradually increasing it to better our "CM rotational skills".
iv) Fierce Loyalty ... (Audience goes: What is this?) This is one of the listed Witch Doctor skills that we end up rather abandoning because "Life Regeneration and Thorns" turns out to be amongtwo of four statlines/properties "put off to the bottom of the pile", that "seemingly" or "rather in actuality" affecting our gear to be "Sheet-DPS oriented" (aka "It's all about the numbers, unbuffed or buffed).
Here's what I like about where this video or the direction in which OP Jaetch is taking us, I await for more awesome shows regarding this build.
Don't forget paragon points You can go dexterity rather than intelligence for the primary category or just focus on stacking evasion in the defensive category.
Also, I think there's nothing preventing us from getting another item with massive Dex gain once you're at a certain Int level.
Sacrificing 600-700 Int might sound like a lot, but if you're at 12.000 INT that's 5% extra bonus dmg from it? From a diminishing returns (<- keyword) point of view, at some point I'm sure getting 700 Dex instead of 700 Int could be worthwhile. Who knows, maybe it's even better than Vit at a certain point.

True, there are paragon points. But smartdrops and (most) wizard legendaries will lack dexterity in most probability. I suppose you might find a couple rares, but it's not like you can visit the AH anymore and search for int/dex stuff. Are there any interesting legendary affixes for this build? I just see this as getting progessively harder to find gear with, but you might be able to do something with it.
Part of the tragedy of the AH going away is it'll be ALOT harder to find gear for unusual builds

99% of players will never make a dex-focused wizard. In fact, the huge majority complained that items roll "unsuitable" main stats, like wands with dex or str. Also keep in mind that smart drops just decrease the chance of "wrong main stats", but it's still possible afaik. So, only because one out of a million made a ninja wizard, it shouldn't be that 10% of wizard drops should have dex rolls.

That it's harder to find dex gear for wizards. It's exactly what the community has asked for since launch - stop giving dex/str items to wizards :-)
So yeah, it is getting harder. Maybe it wasn't a real complaint of yours, but I only wanted to point out that this change is exactly what everyone asked for.

I never have made a dex-based wizard. That's not a wizard to me. Wizards, to me, are elementalists. But I saw this post, realized the relevance of it, and passed it on.
On Str/dex, Int/Str and Dex/Str; It lowers the chance of getting a higher +int roll on an item, but makes it perhaps easier to roll a better affix in it's place. I'm ambivalent on the change. Not good enough at math to figure out if it's weighed as a pro or con. I suspect it'll be a good thing with more desirable affixes in the offering.
The idea of the build is just to dare to be different. I'd obviously go for some other pieces besides a level 61 wizard hat and BT Surcoat if I didn't care about stats and aethetics.
The build will still work given the existing RoS changes, I guarantee that. I'd also like to point out that since all Mirror Images do damage (significant damage as well) and that Illusionist grants 30% MS every time you cast Teleport, MI or Slow Time, AND that Wave of Force has no cooldown... the doors are wide open for even more possibilities.
