For a global game to not be available at the same time globally makes no sense. I think it sucks that they are giving Europe advanced access to the game and their own local customers are getting the shaft having to wait an extra "day" almost. It won't end up actually affecting me since I'll be working that week and only playing some on tuesday night anyway, but its still seems kind of rude to give your local market the shaft.
I was hoping for a PDT-based release myself. The U.S.A. basically runs on Eastern time and, admittedly a bit uncharitable, I thought it would be great to be able to stick it to our east coast cousins.
Congrats to Europe, though.
Edit: Ok, it specifically says US servers will go up at midnight Pacific time. So those of us on the west coast will kind of get to go "pbbbbbbbbt" in the east coast's face. Just won't have quite the same effect as getting first dibs on the game. =P
The one thing I was hoping not to hear from Blizzard about the release time...makes an EST midnight launch somewhat deflated now. :\ Ah well, guess I could nap a bit after getting the game and then wait for the right time...still...disappointing.
The funny thing is that all americans are complaining about l8er release but whenever they get any game before Europe its ok & they tell all whining europeans to stfu ^^

That's a bit harsh. Not everybody is like that.
Who developed the game?

Sometimes you don't always know where you stand... until you know that you won't run away.
Ok. Now for the real question. I am getting my CE at midnight and I live on the east coast.
Do I stay up and play at 3 and sleep the next morning/afternoon
-or-
Do I install, sleep and wake up early and play all day.
I am in the same boat as you and there will definitely be power naps between getting back from picking up my CE/Install and the 3am release. Then you play until you fall asleep on the keyboard!!!

Gonna say "rofl" at the EU trolls laughing at their now-nonexistent early release. You didn't actually believe that was gonna happen for a game developed by a US company did you? Would make no sense... Everything being released at the same time = fair. Besides, we're all gonna be riding the lag river for a few days anyway.
Mmm no not harsh at all. We've all been waiting a decade for the game, pretty sure another country shouldn't be getting nearly a third of a day ahead of us. Just doesn't make any sense, period.
Those outside PDT should be happy that they will be able to actually play *at* midnight. People in PDT will be decrypting/installing/driving-home, starting at midnight -- everyone else will be siting at the loading screen, snacks and beer at hand.
It's not like this is a new way for Blizzard to do these things, but when I go get a game at midnight (on a console, for instance), I get to come home and immediately play it. I know the server structures and development blah blah blah are completely different, but it just seems weird to have it live in Europe 9 hours before and then NOT acknowledge the separate US timezones. Oh well, can't really do anything about it.
do you know if worldwide release will be midnight GMT? On May 15. Thanks in advance No, each region will have its own launch time(which is the same time for everyone based on the US time TROLLOLOLOLOL, FUCK YOU :hehe:). We'll be announcing them soon. (Source)

What if they've been waiting just as long? Does that make us more entitled, all things equal, solely on the principle that we are American? Sounds like some straight Nazi logic to me.
On topic; sucks that midnight release doesn't actually mean midnight for anyone except those in pst.
Apologies for my bad maths, but could someone please confirm for me. Being an Australian (17 hours ahead of PDT?), servers will go online for us at 5:01 pm on 15/05?
If so, that's awesome as my week of leave starts on the 15th, and will allow me to get some stuff done during the day, ready for an epic night starting at 5:01pm!
For those complaining about the EU guys getting a head start, consider this: They will be our test dummies. All the server crashes/bug that happen will hopefully be found and fixed before the US region comes online. So its a win win.
There's a blue post from Arcagnion regarding certain server unlock times:
Official Blizzard Quote:
We can confirm the timings for server unlock on the 15th May are:
New Zealand Standard Time: 7:00 PM
Australian Eastern Standard Time: 5:00 PM
Australian Central Standard Time: 4:30 PM
Australian Western Standard Time: 3:00 PM
So settle into a chair at the Slaughtered Calf Inn, pour a mug of mead and sharpen your axe for the battles to come!
I for one am ecstatic with this news, being in Central Standard Time. Due to my location, the Gamestop I have my CE reserved is about 75ish minutes away. I'll be leaving my house at around 10:30 pm to make sure I get there with plenty of time to pick up my game, then assuming another 75ish minute trip back, I should have plenty of time to install my game and ready to play before the servers go live here! YAY!

So much for taking the 15th off work and playing it all day. Better let the boss know I'll be in... and in a foul mood.
The actual game better be available for purchase before then, you know.... since all the shops ******** close at 5pm!
I agree they should make it on the 16th for you guys like it always is and should be So more hours of delay!
Who'll blind your eyes and steal your dreams,
