I'm anxious to see if Blizzard intends to bring HD remakes to D1 and D2. Man, I really hope so, such great games.

I have a friend that still hasn't finished Diablo 3 normal (he plans to do so the next holydays) that gets VERY angry with all kinds of spoilers. So, yes that spoiler alert is helpful.Quote from Elendiro
Can't believe that there have to be spoiler alerts 1 ½ year after the release of Diablo 3...
Sorry, but your friend is an asshole. Getting outraged at other people because of his own decisions is pretty silly. Spoiler warnings I can understand for the first few days, anything after that is not warranted, though of course there's nothing wrong with having them if they want to.
The Game of Thrones books have been around since 1996. I haven't read them, I've been watching the series. I certainly don't want anything spoiled for me but in your eyes, because I chose not to read the books I shouldn't have the right to not have the story spoiled for me? That's a pretty douchy stance to take bro.
The same concept applies to Diablo 3 or anything else for that matter. Just because someone chose not to experience it until much later doesn't mean they don't want to enjoy that experience spoiler free. -

It's kind of counter-productive to have a spoiler in the title of a thread you warn people will have spoilers. By this I mean the mention of cow level mobs in the thread's title. Most people that don't want to be spoiled will still likely read the entire title of a thread, even if it warns of spoilers. I personally don't mind them too much but it's something to consider.
That being said, RoS is shaping up to be amazing and I'm very much looking forward too it.
the spoiler is the models in the video NOT the cow level - that information we do not mark as spoiler - just like we didnt when we annouced the pony level
I don't mind one way or the other that it's in the title. I'd be willing to bet that most people here don't. You guys do a bang up job keeping up with the news so I don't mind if there's an occasional spoiler or two in a thread title.
However, the fact that they're bringing cows and most likely a cow level back to the game is, in my eyes, a spoiler regardless if you've seen the models. If I was one of those people that didn't want to be spoiled about any potential surprises the expansion may hold, reading that the cow level, or at least cow level mobs are making an appearance would have spoiled that for me. Of course I suppose if I was one of those people I probably shouldn't be on a news fansite That's the only point I was trying to make just in case it was an oversight or something. No biggie. -

Sep 17, 2013CasmX posted a message on Diablo III Auction House is Shutting Down on March 18, 2014There was one question that wasn't asked that I wish was.Posted in: News
IMO, the only reason PC users didn't have access to an off-line mode was almost entirely because of the auction houses to prevent hackers from abusing the system for profit. Now that the auction houses are being removed, could the possibility of an off-line mode for PC users come about?
Unfortunately, I don't expect that to happen because an off-line mode does leave the battle.net game vulnerable to malicious that not having an off-line mode currently helps protect. Still though, it'd be much like D2 and security measures have been improved upon by leaps and bounds. I sincerely hope Blizzard considers an off-line mode for PC users assuming they can protect their online game's integrity, which Blizzard should be able to handle with no issues.
edit: I should have read more of the thread, apparently this has already been discussed. whoops, my bad -

Aug 30, 2013CasmX posted a message on New Reaper of Souls Info, Blue Posts, Console Version Playtesting Highlights and ReviewI'm also concerned by them increasing the drop rate of legendary items to such a degree.Posted in: News
As it stands, I've been finding about 2-3 legendary items an hour, granted most of them are complete garbage. If what they stated is to be accurate, that would imply that I would find anywhere between 12-18 legendary items per hour and they're supposedly more likely to have better stat rolls. That's a crazy amount of legendary items. With the implementation of the mystic, BiS items may become too commonplace.
I've never dropped real money on this game, my character is not P.lvl 100 and the items he has I've either found or purchased off the gold AH with the gold I've earned. I play fairly casually several hours a week and I can comfortably farm Monster Power 6. I imagine after a change like this, I'd be finding upgrades daily and would be able to boost my character's power substantially, making him capable of farming MP 10 within days. (pre expansion but post patch).
Don't get me wrong, I like increasing my character's power as much as the next guy, but I hope Blizzard doesn't overcompensate. That is, taking the game from where it is now where a player very rarely finds an item worth a damn to item saturation where the really good items just aren't that rare anymore. -
Aug 30, 2013CasmX posted a message on New Reaper of Souls Info, Blue Posts, Console Version Playtesting Highlights and ReviewSomething here caught my eye.Posted in: News
I was impressed with the results and I probably had more fun playing with a couple of mates on a couch than I ever did by myself on the PC.
Diablo (with the original being the exception) has always been more fun as a co-op multiplayer game than single player dungeon crawler in my opinion. Single player gets pretty old and repetitive quickly. I believe most people enjoy the game more when they are playing with a few friends. The fact that he was playing on a couch or on a console seems irrelevant. That's my take away from the statement anyway.
Once D3 on the consoles has been out for a few months, we'll get a solid idea on how nice of a fit the game is on a console. Personally, I'm expecting it to play relatively well. There's a few aspects that I know I wouldn't like but it seems that Blizzard has pulled out all the stops to ensure that the game feels comfortable played with a gamepad.
I'm also anxious to see how well sales are on consoles. Diablo 3 doesn't exactly have the best reputation and wasn't the most well received game but the Jay Wilson stigma seems to have diminished significantly and the current team has done great things fixing many of the initial problems most players had with the game. -

May 18, 2013CasmX posted a message on Diablo III: The Road So FarD3 is a great game but they made a lot of huge mistakes when the game launched. First and foremost was Inferno difficulty. When an act boss ends up being easier than an elite pack, and the people that were rushing to be the 'first to beat Inferno' were literally corpse hopping their way through the content just to get past it, something was seriously wrong. Not only that but progression in the game had only one direction. If you played D3 enough, you were eventually going to make it to Inferno and eventually the anti-fun would begin. - This has since been fixed...Posted in: News
Another big issue D3 had at release was poor itemization. When blue items (literally, not even rare, just blue quality items) outclassed legendary gear, something is seriously wrong. Legendary items weren't simply outdone by lucky rolled rares, they were outclassed by literally every other item with stats on it. There were a few exceptions, but for the most part, legendary items were a complete joke. - IMO, this is somewhat relevant even today, but it's made a lot of progress since release.
Class balance was a pretty substantial issue. At the time, demon hunters were the god class and everything else paled in comparison. - Of course, class balance has probably seen more adjustment than any other aspect of the game and this is no longer the case, but class balance still seems to be a significant issue when someone comes up with a build that simply outdoes what other classes are capable of.
If the game we have today was the game they released last year, I think it would have been much more widely accepted as a great game. Unfortunately, by the time most of these changes came to, it was already too late and the damage had been done. All of my friends and family that bought the game have since quit and haven't even had an urge to pick it back up again. When they hit Inferno and literally couldn't progress past the very first section of Act II and even in a tanky spec was getting 1 shot by flying bugs, they were done and wanted nothing more to do with it. I don't blame them. Even after all these improvements to the game, I've tried to convince them to come back but they're busy with games they actually enjoy and don't frustrate them to no end.
Over time, I have lost most of my interest in the game and basically use it now to play the AH for real money. Hell, I figure if I can get an extra 20 bucks a week or so, that's just money in the bank. The Diablo auction house has paid for so many of my gaming habits now that it's funny, but I rarely actually play the game itself anymore. I still keep up with it though and I do play a gaming session probably once or twice a month for about an hour each, but that's the extent of it. Without people I know to play with, Diablo lost most of it's appeal for me. -

Crazy stuff for sure. I just hope it gets cleared up. Shame it occurred during such a great patch.
No doubt there. By this time next week I'm sure the bug will have been corrected and the duped gold tracked down and removed, along with suspensions and bans.
That being said, I still don't agree with how Blizzard has handled the situation or is currently handling it. The moment Blizzard became aware of this bug, they should have shut the servers down completely. However, they opted to simply disable the auction houses, allowing the people that exploited the shit out of the bug to dupe billions/trillions of gold. Then, since they kept the servers active, gave these cheaters a chance to sell their exploited/ill-gotten gains to ignorant people that were unaware of the bug, potentially cheating people out of their real money. It wasn't until today recently that they decided to put a hold on gold trading, which came literally a day late. All of which could have been avoided if Blizzard simply shut the servers down and issued a rollback immediately after discovering the problem. Would it have pissed some people off? No doubt. Would it have kept the integrity of the game intact? Yes. -
May 7, 2013CasmX posted a message on Auction Houses Temporarily Offline -- UpdateWell, seems like a good day to be a duping cheater.Posted in: News
Step 1: Dupe billions if not trillions of gold.
Step 2: Sell it all on D2JSP to anyone stupid enough to buy it before Blizzard locks the account and removes the gold
Step 3: Enjoy hundreds, maybe even thousands of dollars and laugh your ass off when Blizzard finally takes 'appropriate action' and temporarily suspends your account.
Step 4: ???????
Step 5: Profit. -

Don't get me wrong. Necro class in D3. Okay, that's pretty cool. Diablo 1 built into D3? Sure, that's...neat. But in my eyes, this is Diablo's 20th anniversary. I was expecting something JAW DROPPING! And while these additions will no doubt be fun, I don't feel they live up to what could have been and should have been incredible Diablo news.
I, like many, had my hopes set for a few things. A Diablo 4 announcement would have been worthy of the 20th Anniversary. I personally would have been happy with a Diablo 2 HD remake. Whether they decided to make an exact clone or whether they wanted to add or improve certain aspects of the game, a D2 HD remake would have been most welcome. I also wouldn't have been opposed to an entirely new game based in the Diablo Universe yet separate from the core Diablo games. Any of those announcements would have been welcome for Diablo's 20th anniversary.
Now while this is only my personal opinion, and I may be in the minority here, but to me these announcements are lacking. They would have been acceptable for just about any other Blizzcon in my eyes, but this year is special and I feel the announcements don't reflect that. Now I acknowledge that Blizzcon isn't over yet and there's still a chance for something else to be announced, but as it stands right now, I feel the Diablo news from Blizzcon is once again somewhat lackluster and it's just a bit heartbreaking.

When you're trying to be competitive, there's always going to be a 'best' build, 'best' group composition, 'best' class etc. Unfortunately that's true in this instance (it would seem). If you want diversity, then you'll have to sacrifice optimization. In other words, you can make runs without a healing monk right now and have fun with it, and even do well. Just don't expect to get #1 on the leaderboards.
1
Basically this. Let's say 2 months after the patch goes live Blizzard says, "We underestimated how effective it was for players to roll perfect quality gear with the Kanai Cube, so to address this, we've adjusted the recipe requirements appropriately. Kanai Cube recipe requirements have been increased."
This could easily be a real possibility and the reality being it's only really the botters that have said perfect gear and the reguluar Joe players are still stuck with their moderate gear except now for them to reroll an item, instead 50 Forgotten Souls they need 250 with a bunch of other inflated craftings materials. (numbers are just placeholder examples but it gets the point across).
People that say, "Botting doesn't affect me so I don't care" are just fooling themselves. Botting very much affects everyone that plays the game and the player base shouldn't passively stand by and allow it to further ruin an otherwise good game.

Glad you got that worked out. Good luck in game!

You probably never noticed your character picking up blood shards because they are automatically picked up by moving over them, just like gold. If you weren't actively looking for them, you likely just didn't ever notice you were getting them. However, once you hit your maximum capacity, the game won't let you pick up any more, leaving the left overs on the ground for you to see in clear view.
Hopefully that makes sense. Whenever this happens, just open your inventory and look towards the bottom next to your gold total and it should show you how many blood shards you've picked up. If you place your mouse cursor over that number, it will also show you what your maximum capacity is. When you're at your maximum, simply head back to town and spend some at the NPC Kadala. Once you've spent your blood shards, you'll be able to go back into your rift to pick up what you couldn't previously just by walking over them, you don't even need to click them.
Hope this helps.
1
Blood shards do not go into your traditional inventory like a sword or ring would. Blood shards are just a currency number, like your gold number, and you can view how many blood shards you have in your inventory screen at the bottom next to your gold number. Unlike your gold however, there is a limit as to how many you can carry at once. A new player just hitting level 70 would not be able to carry any more than 500 blood shards. If you try to run over blood shards on the ground and it's telling you your inventory is full, it means you're at your current maximum capacity of blood shards and you need to spend them at Kadala in town.
If however on the extremely rare chance you check your blood shards and are not at maximum capacity and you still are receiving this message, then it's clearly a bug and you'll need to contact Blizzard. However, I've never heard of this being an actual bug. Odds are, you just hit your cap and didn't quite understand why you were receiving an 'Inventory Full' message without a full inventory, which is understandable for new players.

If survival is an issue, it's absolutely okay to use your scoundrel with unity until you find a templar relic. The templar will certainly be better but you have to work with what the game gives you.

Yeah, I just re-watched the video no the front page showcasing the cube. It appears that all the possible items are listed in alphabetical order and when he clicked the list of possible weapons, there was no Corrupted Ashbringer listed :| Makes me a little sad. Oh well, my hunt for The Furnace continues.

I did a search and didn't find it, but given it's unique effect, does anyone know if the Corrupted Ashbringer's effect can be added to the cube?

I just leveled my DH that's been 60 forever to 70 and truth be told, I really know next to nothing about the class. I believe I have most if not all level 70 legendary crafting recipes and plenty of mats so if anyone has any suggestions or have a link to a video with a guide, I'd really appreciate it.

I'm thinking rank 50 Bane of the Trapped for the 30% movespeed reduction aura, rank 50 Gem of Efficacious Toxin for increased damage against poisoned targets from all sources and rank 50 Zei's Stone of Vengence for % chance to stun for extra crowd control.
Perhaps I'm wrong at dismissing my follower's damage though. If they can dish out some solid numbers with legendary gems, that might be a thing.

Yeah, kinda sucks that there aren't any cool Physical, Arcane or Fire related procs but at least there's a little bit of reasoning behind the madness.

Bonus xp is more or less a dead stat on an otherwise solid item. So, if you were to reroll anything, that'd be my suggestion.
That being said, there's enough room for improvement all around that it wouldn't be a bad idea to continue crafting and try to get better ones. I wouldn't do it until you're hard up for upgrades but when the time comes and if you're still using the set, something to consider.
