Wow, those are some of the most disgusting self-centered, self-entitled... ''look-at-me'' questions i've read, i'm done following diablo 3 development for awhile if that's the kind of ''news'' you talk about, leaks, data mining and whiny little ''You owe me'' bitch. dumbasses.
Good for the CMs. I'm as impatient as the rest of you, but the D3 community digs for crap like the Papparazzi.
When money is no object for a developer they can go back to the drawing board as often as they like. Yes, it's frustrating to have our hopes smashed over and over, but it's a game. We're not investors. We're not waiting on Blizzard to deliver some life saving drug. It's a game. It's taking forever to come out, it's annoying, but it's completely out of our control.
They act like they haven't made any promises but they really have done a lot of back and fourth. They can't expect to be so tight lipped and cryptic and have that not cause these types of issues. It's quickly approving 4 years since they announced the game.
After a while the benefits of iteration and "improvement" begins to taper off.
Kinda irked. I'm can respect those who have more resolve to wait it out but for me I am now at a place where I am just fed up and ready for solid answers.
I couldn't agree more. Yet still, these comments and feelings will fall on deaf ears, once again.
Sometimes I think the Blizzard we used to love, the Blizzard that put many jokes in Warcraft 2, 3 and Diablo II, kinda dissappeared into a huge business, which sole goal is money. It seems more and more that the community is being ignored, teased, and played with.
And, once again, all what I'm saying will fall on people who can't do a thing. I REALLY wonder how many of Blizzard's guys PERSONALLY feal about this.

Imagination is the only weapon in the war against reality.
Also - while Blizzard does not owe the community anything and doesn't have to communicate with the fans in any way as Molster and Azjenco state above - I would definately say that they absolutely do not communicate effectively. Blizzard CHOOSES to communicate with it's fans - which is a great - but it seems like every time they do communicate they only upset people.
I'm starting to think they'd be better off ignoring their so-called fans entirely. What's it worth to them anyway, spending time to cater to an ungrateful community. Blizzard should perhaps just turn a blind eye and plow onward.
From all the forums I've gone through, Blizzard have some of the strangest fans ever. They act like spoiled children.
Which is all just so strange. I must say, over at the Guild Wars community it's like light and day compared to over here (not to mention the WoW community, it's like eternal darkness over there). You seldomly find the fans complaining, they mostly look for ways to support the game. And when they do complain, it's mostly in a constructive way. A few times a random person will appear with the intent to disrupt everyone, but they don't last long.
ArenaNet is also not as forthcoming with their information. They mostly stick to giving information when they feel right, releasing stuff when it's finalized. In some regards they are even slower and more clandestine than Blizzard.
Yea right? It's almost, like, they like, think we're customers or something... Like we aren't part of the development team, and like, shouldn't be briefed on like, everything...
Really...
I was under the impression Blizzard's reputation was based on them taking their time to make awesome games, despite financial or fan pressure.
But perhaps you guys have a much better understanding about Blizzard's reputation then I do, so I'll be curious to your responses
when i copy paste something from these forums into the editor, it keeps the formatting, then my text shows up as blue... quite annoying. How do i change it and can i make the other mode default or do i have to change every time i post?
yes, it fixes that.
click the square at the top left of the box, it auto remembers your last choice.

awesome, thanks Molster!
NP! that thing is a MASSIVE pain when writing big articles, so I feel you =P
My thoughts exactly. Blizzard has ruined their reputation with Diablo 3, and the new cash cow pilot project, the RMAH. I bet 100:1 that it still delays the game behind this new wall of alleged game system improvements. Sorry, Jay, I just can't believe it.
Sure, Blizzard is going to make money off the RMAH, but it's better than one of the possible alternatives that would have fragmented the Diablo 3 economy. There's a market for people to buy items in the Diablo universe, that's pretty clear from the spam bots and third party sites in Diablo 2's games...
Not to mention the third largest forum on the internet, according to http://rankings.big-boards.com/ where someone created a made up digital currency that people started using years ago to facilitate Diablo 2 trades because of the lack of in-game economy. I'd much rather have Blizzard making money off of it than some guy who had nothing to do with developing the game, while also fragmenting the in-game economy into people who use that site and people who don't.
There are 54 MILLION topics in their D2 trade forums, and 258 MILLION posts... There are people invested in that digital currency and it's likely some will continue to use it, but I'd rather have more and more incentives for people to abandon that practice. I don't want that crap in Diablo 3, I want an open trade community that isn't fragmented because of their past shortcomings.
Sorry for the rant, back on topic. I think it's a little sad that Z has to take the defensive and clear this whole thing up, though I think it was for the better at the start, at least. Things could be handled better, but I'd prefer information as often as it becomes available. Some of the silence on the issue is causing people to grasp at every bit of information, hoping for what we all really want, a release date. It really seems like they should probably either try to smooth over the quiet periods with some new info more often or keep the whole thing silent until the big news because the way it's going seems to really stir people up.
Jesus at the things people write on the forums. I feel sorry for the community manager :<
Yeah it must be a pain in the ass to run interference while Blizzard continues to never be satisfied with their game that's taking longer to develop than WoW.
Im (at least) as pissed as you guys are but you have to be open to the fact how 'attached' you can get to such a huge creative project. They've spend YEARS working on this game and they want it to be perfect. Im sure there are a lot of marketing/financial people at Blizzard who are pushing them to release this game.
I think in the end the fan out there does feel like something is owed to him/her. Blizzard makes great games and that draws people in and people invest their time and money in them. They don't consciously see themselves as mere customers or fans, neither do they see themselves as comsumers. I don't want to say family because that's weird (imho).
It's that investment in time (we're talking over 15 years) by many of these people that are making people feel hurt. For people, their is money and that's what is touching nerves. I'll admit that every now and then I'll get pi$$ed off at the delays too but Blizzard is Blizzard. Another thing driving this is fear, probably the fear of an indefinite delay or even cancellation but probably the fear of the game simply failing to meet their personal standards. Think about it like this - if your friends kept on telling you for years and years about a certain sports car, it'll wet your appetite. You'll want it, it becomes a symbol even a goal. then when you buy it you discover that the car drives like a donkey cart and you'll be hurt. You won't know why you're hurt but you'll feel it.
Another thing I've noticed is that alot of people are acting like addicts, blaming the dealer when there's no crack to smoke but failing to see that they have the issue happening. Well, maybe that analogy is a bit harsh but there are similar behavioural patterns.
Anyways, time to change the flat tire in my donkey cart

I think a big part of it is that if after probably 5 years of development they are still not happy enough with it to set a release date it potentially says something about the game sucking. Fear is rising that the game is going to suck, the longer they wait the higher our expectations, and the fact that they aren't satisfied with it makes it 10x worse. Their insecurities with it get translated to us 100x over as fear and frustration.

Yes, thank you.
Some people are really purposefully obtuse when it comes to the RMAH. This is definitely for the betterment of the game, foregoing a clear foothold for all of the illegitimate misfits who ruin the game, and it will lessen hacks and bots. I don't know why people are so hellbent on battling something that is for the betterment of the game. Moreover it's a completely optional tool for a non-competitive game. I don't know what more can be said about it.

History suggests you're the odd one out here though
A list of things people have protested against when they were introduced:
- Electricity
- Internet
- Telephones
- Mobile Telephones

- Television
Though obviously, in hindsight, they were right, and these were all very bad inventions that did not benefit mankind at all! ^^
I love the part where the grand majority of people crying about lack of communication from Blizzard feel SO entitled. Blizzard doesn't have to say a goddamn thing to anyone about anything.
They mention any little thing at all and someone creates outlandish accusations and cry rivers of tears because they feel that Blizzard owes them.
My god, shut the ever living fuck up.

This will go down as a massive black eye for their reputation.
This is getting really ridiculous. When there's no logical explanation, something is up.
