I’ve been recently farming a lot with the ferret companion, but I’ve noticed a few things that are really getting on my nerves. I know the ferret is probably pretty low on the priority chart but here are some suggestions I hope Blizzard can implement.
Two changes I would like to see made to Demon Hunter’s ferret companion.
Sometimes my ferret would run up to a pile of gold and just sit there for almost 5 seconds before it picks up the gold. Is this a glitch/bug? I can’t see a reason why this would be intentional.
I got my ferret out for 2 reasons; earn more gold and spend less time picking up gold. I didn’t get the ferret out for its damage, so can we make picking up gold (within vicinity) a priority over attacking (especially goblins)?
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who uses the ferret for gold find!!
1. I've also run into this issue/bug multiple times.. Hopefully blizzard will consider looking at it as a hotfix or something..
2. I also believe it should be a little bit of a higher priority to pick up gold over attacking.. The attack of the ferrets don't help much, and the main reason of using them is to not have to pick up gold on your own..
2.5 Speaking of attacking companions, I would also appreciate it if Blizzard looked into taking off the timer on the Wolf companion.. It really doesn't cost much discipline to keep the Wolf up, so having the Wolf up all the time isn't an issue, I just have found it annoying that you keep having to recast it every 30 seconds or so..
Just out of curiosity, what do you use for the rest of your build on your DH while gold hunting?
While it's true that some of the Blizzard CMs/Devs do read other fan forums, your best bet for suggestions like this is to post on the official forums under the feedback section. It's more likely to be seen. Also, avoid bumping your thread too often, it's frowned upon.

That is very true; I should have also posted on the official forums. That had totally slipped my mind because Diablofans has been my “go to” forum for anything Diablo 3 lol. I will make a post there too at my earliest convenience. Thanks for the reminder.
I thought this would be more of a general discussion because its bug/glitch related. Also, Bliz Devs don’t usually check anything other than General Discussion.
I too have used the ferret, though not in any regular build. Basically just when I'm farming act 1, cause act 1 is so easy, or when I'm gobby farming.
IMO the ferrets should be invulnerable, but not attack anything. They should also be much faster. Their sole purpose should be to pick up gold, and they should excel at this task.
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who uses the ferret for gold find!!
I'm sure you are the only one in whole world that uses ferrets for finding gold.. Others use it for getting +cuteness and things like that.
About your wolf pet feedback; You can't just look at matters as easy and obvious as that. There are lots of damage cooldowns that can be kept up 100% of the time with not so much effort but as I said, they are cooldowns, you are supposed to waste the energy to move your finger every 30 seconds to be able to keep it up. Wow got busted because of casual and crap ideas like this.
While at it, they could just make Marked for Death, Calltrops Crit hit chance rune and well.. practically all those abilities permanent. You would love that. (Need a better facepalm smiley)
For the OP, yes I too agree that ferrets priority should be picking up gold, then attacking if there is no gold pile in range.

I believe that you took my statement a little too literally.. I was just happy to see other people using the ferrets in general, because people never talk about it... HILARIOUS response though.. (trying to match your sarcastic response)

I'm going to assume that you have not played much of diablo 2 if you think that letting a wolf that you have summoned, not randomly disappear after 30 seconds, would ruin the game.. A majority of the summons (if not all) never died out after a certain amount of time..The only way that they could mysteriously vanish was if they were killed.
There actually is no COOLDOWN on any of the mentioned skills, genius. They only have a duration.. which IMHO is kind of redundant.. please help me to understand how making you recast wolf every 30 seconds or sentry/marked for death(on one enemy) makes the game better? Also I don't believe the game would be ruined either if Marked for death, Caltrops Crit hit chance, sentry etc, were permanent skills.. I shall compare them to the Traps the assasin had in d2, or the Curses that the necromancer used in D2... The traps never died out after a certain amount of time; instead they had a limit to how many could be set out at one time. Most of the curses would remain on the enemy until he was either dead, or another curse was casted on said enemy.I see what you were trying to do, and it was cute.. but don't try to make a veteran d2 player look foolish, just because you believe that diablo and WoW are the same things.. You can still think my ideas are "casual and crap", but just know that you are insinuating that diablo 2 was "casual and crap" because I am just asking for some of the same things out of my skills, that I have recieved from D2.

Thank you for your feedback, have a wonderful day
Sorry, you are totally right at the "cooldown" part. It is a silly habbit of mine to call anything that boosts your dps or survavilability not permanetly, a cooldown.
It is incredible how you want to compare D3 to D2 as game mechanics. I played D2, but not quite as long as most members in this forum. It still was not a better game or anything and how games work, how they are played and things like that have changed greatly. In my opinion, it is just silly to compare a game with 2 buttons to "modern games" or rather "modern blizzard games".
If there was something specific in D2, it could aswell live on to D3 but the community and, well, everything changed. It would be questionable if blizzard released a game with 2 buttons to press.
Making wolves (wolves that do the highest damage in all DH pets), trap buffs and things like that will only get the game duller. With those permanent, you will just have less buttons to press and sorry but YES, having 2 buttons to press will make the game dull compared to 5-6buttons.

It's a tanky build so I dont have to waste a lot of time kiting.
Plus, I'll move this to the Demon Hunter forums.
