Like many others, I have made the switch to HC as SC dosent satisfy my excitement anymore. It feels like things have reached the bottle neck in terms of item hunting. I still think d3 is an great game (and still enjoy playing everyday) but what makes me think everytime im playing it is how the game could have been AMAZING with more content, dungoeons, items, monsters and overall diversity. The wizard forums have been amazing and a great help for me along the way. But the forum is just in standstill mode just like everything else.

May the heroes rise from the pit of despair and the bards sing of the day of death renewed to everlasting immortality....awaiting your return to the lands of Sanctuary may peace be with you on this day...your day of birth.
For me personally, D3 in its current state has more diversity than D2 classic ever had. The dungeons, monsters, items, etc are exactly like in D2, just more "up to date". That more dungeons, items etc. aren't always just "better" can be seen in many games out there (TL2, Sacred, Skyrim, ... just too full, too much). There's more build diversity in D3 than in D2 (I'm not talking about the crazy melee wizard builds which are not possible in D3, but you can actually create a build around almost every spell). There's more things to do in D3 than in D2 (not just "farm boss Baal/Mephisto until you die", but you can actually run through entire acts because every damn mob has the option to yield XP and loot and not just this one bad ass boss at the end; you can do ubers, you can collect achievements). PvP was never my thing, so if you're complaining about the lack of PvP, go to one of the millions of games out there that have PvP.
D3 may not be perfect. But it's damn better than every other game I've touched in the past 3-4 years.
And about these forums... I rather have a forum with a handful of useful threads every day than 100 threads like this every day (hi @official forums).
It means all the answers could be found here already and no one has anything left to ask!
gg. Huzzah.
Maybe GG but there was not much work to do... it's down to 2 builds. So much for the big variety of builds blizzard promised us.
Pretty much what I was going to post. By swapping just a couple of gear pieces you can go from archon facesmashing low MPs act 3 farming straight into CM stunlock mode for key/uber farming. There's very little thought left in wizard play as every other spec is either for fun or to cover up deficiencies in gear (kiting). It's amazing how bad most of our skills are compared to disintegrate/archon and CM builds at even medium gear levels.
Why do you have to compare it to D2 classic? They could have the full knowledge and experience they have acquired after 10+ years of D2, yet they decide not to use it? Do we have to endure the mistakes of all the D2 patches + the expansion all over again?
This game should've improved on where D2 left off (all patches + x-pack), but, alas, that is not what happened.
Hm, I compared it to D2 classic because this game is also in its early stages, i.e., before x-pack. Well, to some extent I agree with you that they could've learned from their mistakes; however, you have to take into account that they didn't just carbon copy D2 but started completely from scratch. Actually, I think it was started from scratch twice, because I remember Max Schaefer saying in an interview that Diablo 3 was planned as an MMORPG about 10 years ago and after he and some of his colleagues left Blizzard, they threw everything away and started from scratch again. That's one of the strengths of Blizzard btw, not just following a dead end street for ages, but coming up with something new.
If you work in software engineering or any related field, you might be able to realize how difficult this is and how much time it takes to fix all the issues; it's not surprising that all these mistakes "happen again". New engine, new team, new concept, pretty much everything was new; don't let yourself fool by the fact that the names of some of the spells are the same. Everything in the background is entirely different, just what we see is similar because they wanted to create a familiar Diablo environment (hence the similar models for so many monsters).
They wanted to simplify everything by getting rid of many stats (FCR, FHR), auto-incrementing main stats, a non-static skill tree... and some of this just went horribly wrong (instead of FCR/FHR everyone wants CC/CD now, the main stats have become too important, and the skills are still a subject of debate). But it's too easy to blame them for all that. It's better than just keep everything as it was and never trying something new. I like the game as it is now, and I have faith that it will get better. Does this sound fanboy-ish? Well, if so, I don't care. I'd say it's rather 20 years experience with Blizzard games and seeing less failures from their side than from any other game publishing company.

the way the game is now, unless they serverly limit damage to scale against healthpools...dueling will be very stupid. They keep digging themselves in a deeper hole with each patch and change. Hell the average dps for a majority is at least 100k and healthpools on average id bet is probably 35-40k.
Surely Bill Gates said "the most unhappy customers are your greatest source of improvement" which is absolutely right, nevertheless i won't complain that much about the game at the moment. It is still in a very transient state and a lot of things are still changing inclusive of major and drastic changes, at times even in opposite direction. This is a part of improvement process.
As many people as like to jump on the bandwagon of 'Blizz should not have released the game in the current state blah blah' - they should have and did the right thing. It doesn't matter if you use 10'000 beta testers, once the game is released there will be 100 times more players not even playing but purely looking for ways to abuse the game, not to mention all the rest of the actual players. There will be a lot of bugs found in the game even after 10 years of beta testing simply because a complex environment such as D3 could not possibly be scoured by the 10k beta testers in every little corner.
Secondly, whatever feedback the 10k beta testers could give you - so? LOL the day you release the game there will be 100k players complaining about what 10k beta testers said was 'great'. Even after doing what all those players said was a 'must' there will be another 100k players begging for a revert of that change because now 'it sucks so bad i'm quitting not only the game but life as well'.
The amount of content - classic D2 had just as much, surely we can talk about them including 10x times content than there currently is and then release it in 2014, but that would also mean there would be 10x more bugs than there currently is, there will be 10x more complaints that there is at the moment and there will be 10x more issues with class imbalance and bad class design. Simply because making a change in a single variable at that phase will pull 10x more strings and will require 10x more time and effort to fix.
All of us are looking at the game as individuals - but if you look at it from a business / strategical point of view of actually building a bigger project - then Blizzard has made all the right decisions. Release a game with minimal content, let millions of players test it, find bugs, make reports, start earning money (like it or not it's not just you that likes to eat), listen to feedback and fix stuff while adding content and new systems to the game based on the community feedback.
I think all the players playing Blizzard games only always forget that this is probably just about the ONLY game developer in the world that actually listens to the feedback and takes 'timely' action with regards to it. If you want to compare Blizzard to someone else, take the other giant - Electronic Arts. Over the years EA has been named the worst game developer ever, multiple times, they have won the 'worst company of the year' award a few times now. Their attitude to the games is very simple: spend 1 year+ on marketing, promise a lot of content, set a date and throw the game out at that point. The price is the same 40-60 bucks. There will never be any patches released by EA for any of their games, there will never be a properly managed community by them, they have on game masters, they have no community managers, they have no support, they do not refund, they do not fix, they REALLY don't care about you or your opinion in any form shape sort or color. Every EA game has been patched by the community, which takes years of decoding because EA will never release anything. Every game they release has literally thousands of bugs which often make even the most anticipated titles completely unplayable beyond the first 4-5 hours.
Personally - i do believe there is much to improve and i speak about it on the official forums where Blizz actually reads it instead of doing so on some community forum where only other fellow players are going to read it for the millionth time. We all know - PVP will come, we all know the expac will come, we all know we are getting new patches and content thru it with time for free, what we all need to do is give Blizz constructive ideas and criticism, simply crying 'omfg Jay is an idiot and i could do 100x times as a game developer' is not going to help anyone or improve anything no matter the amount of time.
As for the Wizard forums R.I.P - i'm going to switch back to the wizard in the next couple weeks, simply because it is more challenging and fun than a barb and because every tom dick and harry rerolled a barb drastically increasing the demand for barb gear while wizard gear has almost no demand left for it making it significantly cheaper. This also means that in a traditional Blizzard cycle there should be either a barb nerf or wizard buff next. They already did promise to do a major wizard revamp because they were not happy with the current mechanics of it

Game isnt finished yet you know. Patchens and expansion on its way. Fix what was broken. Good thing they did this and not left it to die.
