So, I was messing with the skill calculator and even though some spells might look like crap on a first look, I wanted to create a nice build with underrated spells. Funny thing is: it turned out to be really great, let me hear what you guys think.
This is a build for solo play with an Enchantress as a follower.
For the math, I will be assuming that we will be using a dagger, and we can hit 3 attacks per second(ApS).
OK, so the ideia is very simple: drop a BIG FAT HYDRA(using arcane Dynamo) and kite monsters around while casting Blizzard and Electrocute. Let`s begin the explanation.
HydraandFamiliar Dmg
It is not a fact, but I am pretty sure Hydra does 3 attacks for each 1 ApS. Knowing that, let`s do some math.
Remember I am assuming 3 AsP and I won`t add the Proc Chance of MW Rune, but remember it is a plus
Hydra:
Lightning Hydra * Magic Weapon * Hydra attacks * AsP * Active Time * Arcane Dynamo = (%WpnDmg/Active Time)dps
34% * 10% * 3 * 3 * 15 * 75% = 8835,75%/15 = 589,05%dps. Pretty sick....
Familiar:
20% * 3 = 60%
Kitting and CC
That`s the best part, you are totally free to kite stuff while your hydra and familiar beat the shit out of monsters. While kitting use Electrocute everytime you have a chance, and Blizzard as an AP sink.
Checking this build again you might ask: "That`s sweet and all, but your gonna get your ass kicked out there. You don`t have frost nova, time warp or any armor to defend yourself". If you take a close look at all of the runes and passives, you will realise we have 3 different CCs and that`s pretty hard to get without sacrificing too much dps(first build I could manage that :P).
We have frozen on blizzard, slow on familiar attacks(temporal flux) and 3 seconds stun(proc on Hydra attacks and Electrocute) and when monster pull you or teleport in your face, we still have teleport to GTFO. Don`t forget our beloved Enchantress that slow people, can charm, and buff our ApS.
Final Word
Remember this is an ApS build, so the bonus Dmg from rings and orbs works even better. Any on proc chance itens are really valuable too. This build also have 3 types of damage(cold, arcane and eletric), so any elemental resistant won`t take to long to kill.
That`s it, and feedback is always welcome
I think your assumptions are a bit off the wall (hydra attacking 3 times per APS). Also, a dagger is 1.5 APS, not 3.0.
What's the purpose of temp flux? You have 0 Arcane Spells.
I think completely relying on chance in order to stay alive is way too risky. Once your stuns don't proc, you die.
1- I know a dagger is 1.5 ApS, I said I was assuming from buffs and items we can get 100% Attack Speed, therefore 3 ApS.
2- Familiar damage is Arcane, and he is doing 3 AsP, so temp reflux is a good slow, but I guess Illusionist could replace that if needed.
3- Familiar slow is not a chance, and even though frozen and stuns are, with high ApS it should proc A LOT. And more important, you are free to run without compromising dps too much, plus teleport to save/postioning
I like it a lot better with the canoneer rune actually. Relying on a single target slow that you can't control seemed silly. I think it's still risky to rely on a slow that you can't control. Who's to say that the Familiar won't go off and attack a lone target while the hordes of evil pour through the front lines and decimate you?
Besides survivability issues, I think this build has major issues with single target. Blizzard can't be stacked and chain lightning is only 80% damage so.... it's going to take.... forever to kill a boss.
I hate hate HATE paralysis. I can't really even imagine a scenario when it would be useful tbh.
Even if it could stun diablo himself, and it was the only skill that could so, then it would still be crap.

"Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?"
i realy doubt hydra scale with APs.... haunt don´t scale with APs neither do pets... so why should hydra do `?
They very well might not. The #s do really get out of hand when you start stacking Attack speed.

I don`t think single target is an issue, Hydra is very good single target. I am not sure how Blizzard works with attack speed, but I think with a 3 ApS, it will deal 210% dmg over only 2 sencond (6seconds/3). Of course this is not a single target oriented build, and it doesn`t support spells like desintagrated that have high AP cost per second.
A change for a better single target power is Eletrocute to Magic Missile with Charged or Penetrating Blast Rune, losing a bit of AoE and stuns, but bringing more controlled slow to the table.
again... haunt don´t scale with AP... it always do 575% of WD in 12sec... regardless of your AP... blizzard is also a dot... a AOE dot. don´t think blizzard will work diffrent than haunt do.... those spells (haunt, blizzar, hydra, ...) have a realy high % WD multiplicatior but dont scale with AP so that the are balanced with BIS gear (2aps+).

It's unknown if hydra will scale with APS but Blizzard will not afaik.
