It would be cool if a player could select an item in their inventory and specify that they want to sell or trade it, and if another player puts their mouse over that player they would be able to see that the player has items to sell or trade, if they clicked on the “trading option” icon it would show a list of all the items and prices of their items they have specified to trade or sell.
I think it would also be cool if people could gamble with each other for items, if some one gambles a item(s) that is worth a lot, it would give them better chances of winning the other persons item(s)
PVP
I would be cool to see a feature for inviting someone near you to duel, and have it so that no one around you could interfere with the fight, it would also be cool to have PVP areas where it would be open to all out fighting.
I would also like to see a system for people to bet on fights, the person that loses would drop the amount specified before the fight, both players would bet the same amount.
Many a-times I've been wondering what equipment my fellow partymembers have been. In WoW you have the function to inspect a fellow factionplayer if they are nearby. Even though some items stand out so much you can tell what it is just by glancing at it, some items are harder to notice on a player. I for one find it interesting to see what other people equip their chars with, and how they spend their talent points to become the ultimate pvp:er, mf:er, baal:er, lvl:er etc. etc. Which is why I would like an inspect-function online in the new Diablo!
Trading:
A major deal on b.net in Diablo2 is the ability to trade all the items you find for whatever you want. You do spend alot of time in one or several b.net channels crying out what items you need and what items you offer. Instead of playing you idle in a gray and dead-end spammed channel, which many times turn all our inner children to bored-to-tears crybabies. My suggestion would be to add some sort of ingame trade channel, such as in wow, that you can enter and leave anytime you want, and bid or offer the items you want or need to keep having fun with Diablo 3.There is a certain charm to stand in those trading channels all day, but why restrain yourself instead of mf:ing or lvling your chars WHILE trading?
Just my 2 cents
When it comes to trading in Diablo 2, it was always difficult to transfer your items from character to character. I find it would be best if there was a way to mail your items to other characters. Or, find some way to have "X-fer" games up until the user cancels them (or after a very prolonged period of time the servers can cancel them?). I didn't have any real life friends, and found it difficult to make trust-worthy friends enough to do xfering.
In regards to trading, I want to see the real bartering going on. Items for items. In the past it was always "40 sojs for WF" or nowadays it's "HR for ...". There might not be something you can do to elminate an item being duped, and becoming a currency, but if there is, I think players would really enjoy that.
Trade channels were a great idea but how about this:
Trade Thread:
When you log in, you can switch to a trade channel and make a "trade thread." Each player get's 1 slot, and get's to put as much detailed information as they want in the thread. Once posted, it shows up on a list (much like a forum, but the threads appear in a scrollable box like the chat channel view instead) and anyone can click on it. You could make it searchable, and include certain terms like "ISO" or "FS" or something like that. And then, if someone wants to buy or sell you something, create an option within the collapsed thread to "invite player to game to trade", where they do so. This would eliminate trade chat spam (disallowing people to "chat," and disabling webpages from thread descriptions), and make it MUCH easier than searching how many ungodly amounts of online forums to find the right trade, because it would all be IN GAME, in the b.net chat channels.
thanks for looking.
In D2 skills were slightly linked, like:
Teeth had - Bone Spear: +15% Magic Damage Per Level
Double Swing had – Bash: +10% Damage Per Level
It seems like it would be cool if players could use a skill points to link the skills they wanted, so say (this is just a for instance, I know there is no Necro):
Bone Spear & Weaken: When the player cast bone spear monsters hit also receive a % of the Weaken skill effect.
Or
Blizzard – Charged Bolt: When the player cast Blizzard the affected area also receives a % of the Charged Bolt skill effect.
You could say 1 skill point in a link gets you 5% of the effect, 2 gets 10%, ect. Also, you could say that the skills cannot link for higher than either skills rank and the link only goes 1 way. So you cannot put 3 points in a link between a lvl 5 Bone Spear and a lvl 2 Weaken. You would also have to use extra mana to cast. For instance a lvl 5 Bone Spear cost 8 mana while Weaken cost 4, so you could say a linked bone spear would cost 10 mana (bone spears 8 + half of weaken). Passive skills would be un-linkable and skills cast on yourself (armors, auras, etc) couldn’t be linked.
On another note, several have suggested that D3 allow skill point respec’ing. My thought would be IF it is allowed, the player can ‘unlearn’ skills, but they do not get the skill points back and perhaps lose exp or a few levels, depending on how far back they want to go in the tree. This way it is not as simple of a task as dropping a few gold and you have a ‘new’ character. Last time I checked I can’t ‘respec’ what I studied in college…
PVP:
While there seems to be a large call for PVP in D3, I for one would like to see it either in a separate setting, like a battleground or arena, or on servers flagged for PVP. This way players who want to simply play through the story don’t get ganked by a supposed ally against the forces of hell. It takes away from the gameplay experience.
I also hope that all damage elements (fire, ice, physical, etc. that sorta thing) in the game have resistances and details shown about them. I never liked how in D2 some necro and pally skills were "magic" damage but there wasn't much information about it, you couldn't get any resistance on players for it and so few monsters had resistance against it that it allowed hammer pallys to become as dominant as they are today.
There should be 3 types of PvP options (keeping in mind that PKs are out), (i) PvP-enable games, (ii) player-made arena games and, (iii) competitively ranked arena games.
Before we get started I would like to stress there should be no material PvP rewards, all rewards should be purely cosmetic, or be ranks and titles.
PvP-Enable Games
On game creation, players can choose to tick the "PvP-Enabled" checkbox. These are normal games except that players are now allowed to PK and hostile each other. These are ideal for my favorite PvP in D2, Blood Moor dueling (or whatever the new starter area is).
Player-Made Arena Games
Players can make thier own unranked arena games.
On the game creation screen players can choose from the following options:
(a) the map to play on or choose a random map, or choose to randomize maps every x rounds;
(b) the number of teams (up to 4 maybe);
(c) the number of players per team (perhaps (?) up to 8, with a max of 16 total players in the game);
(d) number of rounds played until the game ends (can be infinite).
Upon entering you can choose which team you want to be on (unless it is full). Friends can tag each other in the B.Net lobby before entering so they are always on the same team (if possible). If team sizes become too skewed after a round they are automatically reshuffled so they are evened out.
The actual game is like a WoW arena, you get preparation time (30 seconds should do), and then you go out into an arena and kill people. Last team standing wins, and the round begins again.
Competitively Ranked Arena Games
These are arena matches that are ranked competitively. Players search for a game and B.Net uses an anonymous match-making (AMM) system to form these games. Team matching is based on expected ladder level (ELL), like WC3. Only 2 teams fight off in a deathmatch style arena. The maps are randomly chosen. Game modes supported can be 1v1, 3v3, and 8v8, with the game being balanced for solo combat (not rock, paper scissors, like WoW, if this doesn't work I guess you can cut 1v1 and replace it with 2v2).
Ladder levels, and win ratios of teams are tracked. The top ranked players get cool cosmetic rewards and titles. Real cash prizes can be given at the end of the season. No material PvP rewards are given.
Hardcore Mode
Both arena's should work with hardcore mode, i.e. if you die in an arena you are revived when you leave. Or perhaps you can only go down to 1 hp, like WoW dueling after which you are removed from the match.
Trading Systems
Some simple trading systems that should work side by side in Diablo III are the auction house and the trading post.
Auction House
On the Battle.Net lobby or chat channel (or maybe integrated into the game world (?), in Caldium), players are able to open an auction house interface. Here players can put items for auction, and set it for sale by choosing either, (i) a minimum bid price in gold (like WoW), or (ii) a buyout price in gold (like WoW), or (iii) be able to choose from a list of all items, and set up 3 (or possibly more) combinations of any of these items as a buyout.
For example, I can put up the following auction:
Item for sale: The Stone Ring of Jordan
Cost of Buyout (choose from): (1) Shaftstop and Vampire Gaze and 50000 gold
(2) Azurerwrath
(3) 2 Ist Rune and 2 Um Rune
So if I see this auction put up, I can buy this SOJ by paying for it in any one of the 3 ways listed by the seller.
(If you don't want players to see a list of all the epic items in the auction interface, perhaps unlock the item into the list when the player sees the items anywhere in the game.)
Trading Post
This would be an interface that serves a similar purpose to the trading forums. You can enter the trading post via a B.Net lobby/channel icon, or by right clicking a player in the channel and clicking on their trading post profile.
Setting your trading post profile is divided into 2 lists: WTB (want to buy), and WTS (want to sell). You can link items that you have onto the WTS list, and choose items from a list in the interface to add to the WTB list. These links are of course like WoW item links, so you can see the stats of the item. Next to each item on both lists you can add a comment (maybe what you are willing to sell/buy these items for). The WTS list can be automatically updated as you sell items.
With the trading post interface you can search for other player's trading lists or search by item names. Searching items will give a list of all those players who want to sell that item or want to buy that item, with the comment they added. There should be a "send message" icon allowing you to send a whisper or a mail to the player.
I would like that in Diablo III this customization of Items to be deepened, to see a more expanded crafting system that allows me to customize every aspect of the item, like how it looks, what type of benefits it gets, with also the ability to brand the Items with it's creator name.
With that item trading could get a different kick out of it, I can imagine seeing an item that I made and being able to say "hey I made that", also if there were any kind of player corpse looting, the champion of a duel would get something more as a trophy, a piece of equipment with his adversary name on it.
I would like an auction house like thing in diablo 3 with gold probaly used as a curency
make gold harder to get and remove the gold max to make this more posable as a curency.
I like that any item can be traded and I beleave it should stay that way.
I think there should be an ingame chat for buying / selling raw crafting materials (like p gems, jewels and some low runes were in diablo 2) as these can somtimes be hard to find buyers / sellers of and would make it easyer.
PVP
For pvp they should have set games you enter where mobs are weakened(or not there) drop no loot and all players are hostial these games should have an increased number of players over normal ones and could perhaps be split into team and ffa pvp.
You could get a pvp ranking based off how many kills at your level or higher that you have done.
Another idea is perhaps a chance when you kill a player they will drop a powerfull item that lasts a day or two and makes you attackable in all game types if you get attacked you can attack back though.
Player vs. Player should be a positive experience for both the winner and looser. How is this possible? Balance.
PVP Server Idea #1
Have a PVP server that will automaticly find worthy opponents based on your character level + Skill Set + Item Values. This will produce a numeric code that displays your PVP difficulty. This number can then be used to find players equal to yourself in diffucutly. For example:
A level 20 Player with strong melee skills equiped with all Rare items would be equal to a level 30 Player with magic skills and low magic items. This would be a balanced fight.
This balancing would elliminate the twink advantage.
PVP Server Idea #2
Have an alternate PVP server setup more like an open arena. This is where a level 20 twink could battle a level 99 to test their PVP skills. These types of battles are fun and challenging for all players. No rewards, no balance, just fun.
PVP Server Idea #3
I feel that all PVP Servers should have some options to make them more fun for players. I have listed a few examples below:
Rewards - these should be simple and fun. Rewards that alter appearance and cause envy among other players. Not rewards like epic weapons that make the PVP champions harder to dethrone.
Stats - these are a way to track progress of your player and others. Stats are a helpful way to check where you are weak and strong. Stats could be more than wins/losses. They could breakdown your record by class type. Stats could also show other players your gear loadout, skill tree, and character info.
Multiple Game Types - this could add some creativity and fun to PVP. Instead of having the traditional 1vs1 or 2vs2 battles, we can use the balancing formula I mentioned to create balanced 2vs1, 3vs1, 3vs2, etc. Game Types can extend beyond PVP. There can mini games like "Clear the Map" where 2 players are surrounded by 100's of weak monsters and the player who kills the most wins.
Light hearted games could be a nice break while you wait for friends to connect.
Personal Feelings
not a fan of rankings and ladders. I play BNET ladder only because it was recently reset and all the epic gear has left. (For a short time). I am a player who plays games for 4-6 hours a week, tops. I will never be able to make rankings and therefore steer away from Arenas, tournaments, and ranking systems. Don't get me wrong, I love, love, love PVP. I want a system that can connect myself to another casual player who isn't twinked out at level 20. The fun of PVP is in the challenge of battling an equal opponent.
For the
Also for PVP, you should have to talk to someone to go pvp and they send you to a new area that's not in the normal "questing" areas. Like how in World of Warcraft with the arena, where the whole field is PVP and you can't interfere with other's questing or just wanting to have fun outside. Or just make another server just for PVP.
For the item trading feature, you should make it to where all items are able to be traded through the trade window. When you had the Annihulus and the Hellfire Torch unable to be traded through the window, many players were scammed when they tried trading those. I happened to be one of those a few times.
Thank you if you read this and think it over. Just some options that I think people would like.
Don't make pvp give any pve rewards. They should be 100% seperate things.
I understand people want to do pvp, but me, and I know I'm not alone, prefer pve only, and don't want to feel forced to pvp for rewards etc.
I also hope very strongly to see a better trading system than Diablo 2, but this has already been mentioned alot. However, I'd still like some flexibility in this, so you can still get "bargains" and get richer by being good at trading, since it was something alot of Diablo 2 players enjoyed (including me).
I also have a specific fun idea about trading. How about making an ingame trading location, where people could meet and trade? Maybe with NPCs where you could "leave" your items up for trade for others to look at and purchace at the price you've set.
I wouldn't mind gold becoming more usefull, but don't forget to give people total freedom in what they want to trade for. If they want to trade a specific item for another item, or 200 gems, or a rune, then let them! If the system is too restricted or limited, not many will use it and we're back to regular trade channels. (I'd still like to see trade channels ingame, just less spammy than Diablo 2.

A Trade Slideout Tab. And an option for trade confirmations(trade confirmation option in settings for those of us who want to be extra careful.)
(Reason)
One thing i remember was a scam people used to do. However a possible simple counter could be a Slideout Tab. The other player would stick an item in the window then when you were like okay they'd switch it out. After switching it out a zillion times you'd risk trading for a gemmed look a-like item. Best way for the player is just not trade with that person...
(Original solution)
The original method that Blizzard used was it would grey out or Red out the Check box for okaying the transaction.
(A better possible solution)
The slide out tab would be nice cause you could have a list of every item in the trade window. Just have a small rectangular window slide out to the right. Or if you have the extra space just add it to the side of the trade window. Then you'd be able to view every item simultaneously without having to Mouse over it. Either way to protect against scams or not this would be very beneficial to the Diablo 3 interface.
One thing I would love to see is an enhanced system for taking people's ears. If there was a log of some sort that could visibly display to players who ispected them all of the ears that they had acquired it would be a really fun way for people to boast and occasionally tease each other. It might also be a good idea to no longer treat ears as items, but rather log them automatically so that the owner of it could obtain it automatically so as to avoid the possibility of someone snatching it before the right guy gets it. This could also make organization a little bit easier for players.
hope this helps
