posted a message on Can a Diablofans.mod please post this or ask Blizzard what the hell happened with monster density!
What I think you meant to say was, "I don't like to assume Blizzard will do this right," because you're clearly comfortable with assuming they won't if you're worried about something like this.

They know monster density was a big hit, and I don't think they'll remove it without saying something about why (I don't think they'll remove it at all, but if they do). Unfortunately, they may just leave it for Torment, which I don't think is fair to people who don't buy the expansion. But, you don't have to be on the PTR/Beta to post in the official forums - go raise your concerns.

I've played for 4 hours, Found 2 legendaries (Andy visage & Skorn)
The Skorn had 61 lvl req and Int. The Andy had STR and no IAS.

Oh yeah, I play a DH. Smart drops my ass.

Smart Drop is only a chance, and trust me you want it that way. On the console it's almost everything, and as a result you can't give anything to your other characters. Let your Barb play with the Andy's.

You missed the point, what I was talking about is about having some use for every item that currently drops for you. In the case you mentioned, notice that in my example the only difference would be that the blue one would somewhat force the legendary random attributes to not be so random, and more according to what stats the blue already has. So, if I just want a legendary I can gamble with a white item, no big deal, it wont be 100% of the time a better item if I put a blue there, just that the odds would probable be better.

I didn't miss the point - I'm disagreeing with the point.

As I said, I think you're wrong in assuming that players, for the most part, will think "Oh, no big deal, the blue item only has a chance at being better." Instead they will think, "The blue item has a chance to be better - I'd be crazy to use anything else." And so there's no point to the white item anymore, other than filling the role of "not what I need."

But even if you're right, and the difference between a white item and a blue item in the craft is negligible, such that most players think using one or the other is "no big deal," then why bother having two options in the first place?

It might even get cleared once or twice before actual release.

It's just a test, after all.

Here, simple solution: (for the ones who say that I'm only bad news and negative comments)

    - highest possible quality white weapon + brimstone + some other not so easy to get crafts/items + considerable amount of money = legendary version of that white item. It not only makes white items interesting but also lets you hunt an specific legendary. Same rule could apply to blues, maybe the difference could be that the outcome legendary has stats that are related to the blue stats.

Voila, new "generic runewords", that doesn't even need new content, it uses what is already in the game.
So first of all, I thought that D3 does have recipes that are white item + other items + gold = legendary. The only difference being that it doesn't matter if the white item is "superior" or whatever.

Anyway, I tend to agree with the "hunt for something specific" attitude, but I think in this case white items is enough. I remember hunting for six-socket ethereal phase blades for rune words and it was just frustrating to need such a specific item. In practice, when there are different quality levels for something like that, it's usually just a huge mistake to use anything other than the best quality. So why even have the other levels? Just make the one level as rare as necessary for balance reasons and have done with it.

I mean, even just look at your examples - if you can use a blue item in a craft, why would you ever use a white item?

I don't understand this obsession with making whites and blues actually viable. They already serve a pretty good purpose; you'll use them leveling up, and you need their crafting materials for higher end crafting. I'm all for making runewords in the future, but the state they are in now is perfectly fine, and Blizzard doesn't need to waste any more resource time on them.
I never said that they should be viable, as in competing with Rares or Legendaries. I said that it would be cool if they serve a purpose, instead of being pinata stuff/craft material. Like, I don't know, find a perfect version of certain type of sword, to use it in a recipe, and you can find these special recipes all across the game.
Well, you already have recipes that call for a white item to craft. It might be cool if the "Superior" or "Fine" mods on white weapons factored into the final product, but then you end up in a situation where nobody wants to craft using anything less than the highest-end version of the white item.

Here's a quick vid I made from the DiabloFans Community. Communities work a lot like Clans, but you can join as many as you wish (unlike Clans).

Okay, that's just a great idea. Straight up.

Can we please stop all talking about cheating and if always-online should/shouldn't exist, while peoples position on cheating and whether or not always-online should exist can be an interesting topic it's not the purpose of this thread. I accept that they are forcing me to be online, i'm simply saying ok, i'm online with this million other people so what do I gain? I can't trade, pvp is a joke and grouping up with people is pointless because of the lack of control over who your grouped with, the lack of group gains and the lack of group content.

Being able to play the game with other players is what you gain from being online, but you already know that. You're just indulging in too much hyperbole, like many D3 fans. It's fine if you don't like how the grouping system is implemented, but just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's not a feature and there's no benefit to always-online.

posted a message on [Epiphany] Bounties / Rifts / RoS
While I like the idea of making bounties into scrolls, I think a negative side to that is it becomes another thing you have to aimlessly hunt for. One of my main complaints about D3 is that the player doesn't really have any ability to "hunt" for anything (except the keys) - and by hunt I mean proactively look for / do something to get the item (or the chance to get the item) you want. As it is, all you can do is just keep playing and hope it drops eventually. So the flip side of the coin, what I like about bounties as they are, is that I can just log in and if I want that bounty reward I can go hunt for it.

I also don't like the idea of making keys drop anywhere because again, I really like having a specific thing hunt; i.e., if I want keys, I have to hunt Key Wardens. I don't want keys to be just another thing that I have to just hope drops off the next mob.

To me, this is the reason that D3 isn't much fun once you've got a good set of gear together. You get to that point where your gear is so good that it takes a long time to find an upgrade, and there's nothing you as a player can proactively do except keep playing and hope.

Anyway, I like the new format, but I notice that when I used the "multi-quote" option, I can't seem to be able to write anything between the multiple quotes. Usually when I put multiple quotes in one post, it's because I want to respond to one person's point right after their quote, then give another (not necessarily related quote, from not necessarily the same person) and respond to that.
