posted a message on PTR T-4 to T-6 no blue, yellow and legendaries?

I'm sure it's not the intention that you find less as the difficulty increases. It's probably a bug of some sort, and obviously worth pointing out, but there's no need to go on about how it'll be the death of the franchise.

And on a side note, I really don't understand why anyone cares what streamers think about the game. These people put in thousands of hours into a game where you click on monsters until they pop, their opinion is warped. There's an English saying, "You can't see the forest from the trees." It means when you are so into something that you are obsessing over the individual little parts and you can't appreciate the big picture. For all the bashing guys like Kripparian handed out, I still played something like 300 hours before I'd had my fill.

I can only handle Torment 1, but I find tons of yellows there - much more than compared to the other difficulties. Less blues and whites, for sure. So, my experience has been totally different than yours, at least as far as that goes.

It's also ironic that the most-efficient way to gear up is to play co-op with three other people who use the same primary stat because smart drops make it very unlikely that you actually find gear to pass off to other people unless they share your primary stat. In reality, this is WORSE than trading because the average person doesn't have access to three pocket players with appropriate characters to help them gear up in this manner. The average person also won't be able to split farm either because of the increased difficulty of soloing in a four-player game. So this ridiculous notion that BoA makes a level playing field where everyone farts rainbows is just stupid.
I'm seeing this crop up more and more but I'm not sure I'm convinced it's as big a deal as people are making it out to be. Players will always find a way to game the system - these are just examples of how people can game the system in RoS. Why can't you just not play that way if you don't want to play that way?Diablo 2 had its own version of this in Blood Runs / Baal Runs (all day all night baby). Sometimes I feel like I played a different version of D2 than everyone else, by my recollection is that 90% of the games in the game list at any given room were Bloody / Baal runs. Blizzard took a few steps to mitigate them but ultimately they remained the most efficient way to level up, but they didn't ruin the game. You either liked them or didn't like them and acted accordingly by doing them or not doing them.

    Quote from IgnatiusReilly

Posts like these only appeal to those who are already inclined to hate the game. I could write 100 pages on how the font they chose has ruined the game irreversibly, and it'd get parroted around by the gilted ex-lovers of Diablo. The Tias (who made a far better post) and Droth have made the following points: 1. Drop rates are too low. 2. Enemy damage too high. 3. Enemies have too many HP. 4. CC effects need to be nerfed. 5. Rifts need to be more rewarding. Hardly game breaking when read in a format that doesn't evoke mass hysteria. And taken as whole, all this says is, "You'll have to play the game for a while before you find all the best items and faceroll content." Oh no!!! And if it's really really upsetting you that you might have to play the game longer than 20 hours before you have everything, then perhaps the ARPG genre just isn't for you. Because no matter which of these games you play, whether it's Torchlight, PoE, or even Diablo 2, if you want to have the best of the best items, you're going to have to play the game for a little while.
This really sums up my thoughts on that thread. Especially reading TheTias' post, it really seemed like he was aggravated that he couldn't cut it on Torment VI after a couple of days play time. The monsters have to many HP? Turn down the Torment level. They do too much damage? Turn down the Torment level. Who cares if there's a difficulty that even the theoretical perfect character can't handle? As long as there's some level that suits you, put it on and go along your merry way. There seems to be this really weird circular argument that players want hard content so that they can put all their awesome gear to use as the character gets stronger, but then get all angry when they can't hack it on the hardest difficulty levels right away. I was also baffled by the section of TheTias' post that dealt with "splitfarming." If you haven't read it, he basically cries about how his DH couldn't hack it in a splitfarming group unless he used a specific build. It highlights this amazing contradiction within the community where people want to be free from Blizzard's restraints to play however they want, but then will turn around and blame Blizzard for a play-style that becomes popular but is completely unintended and made up by the players. To me, it sounds no different than Baal runs in D2 - they were the most efficient way to level up, but they were no fun and when you just started you contributed absolutely nothing to the group. And the solution is simple - find like-minded players and play with them instead doing something other than splitfarming. To read his post, you'd think splitfarming was the only way to play the game.

posted a message on BOA...Won't somebody please think of the children??!!
    Quote from Finder

Anyway, I didn't really make this thread to argue over BOA, there are enough threads for that. I was just laughing at the fact that someone found a way to use the stereotypical "won't someone think of the children" argument in D3.
I thought it was funny, and was glad you posted it. Lately I've come to the conclusion that people just like to argue. Even looking at the OP from the thread you linked, he doesn't even say he's going to quit playing or whatever. He's just disappointed he won't be able to do something he used to do, and says so. It's obvious he and his kids are going to keep playing and will probably have a total blast, yet the thread predictably turns into a riot.

Not going to be a popular post, but I'll say it anyway: I see a lot of people complaining that they won't be able to boost their friends as easily so they can play together. It seems to me that if you just want to play together, it shouldn't matter what difficulty you're on, so if you need to go back down to their level that shouldn't be a problem. If you want to get them to point that they can play on the higher difficulties with you, then, frankly, that SHOULD be harder to do. I don't think it's that big of a problem that people need to work to get up to the higher tiers of the game. Of course you should be allowed to help them get there, but that doesn't mean you should be able to just give them a bunch of free gear to get them there instantly.
That's how I feel about it. I think being able to share items in the same game is a pretty good compromise. If you want to boost a friend, that's fine - you just actually have to play with them to do it. You can't just do it passively by handing off your drops. In a game that has a level cap like D3, such that a fresh level 70 can instantly put on any gear that's rated level 70 regardless of how long it took to find, I don't think this is an unfair restriction. Based on my own PTR experience, I will say that I do think the drop rates for legendaries are too low, and that with BoA in place they certainly have room to improve it without much negative repercussion.

posted a message on Can someone explain Torment for me?

I think so - my understanding has always been that there are Torment-only legendaries, and the sliders only affect the drop rate. Now that Torment is open to 60's, I think there are 70-only legendaries instead. I hope someone with Beta experience can answer you for certain, I'm interested to know as well.

Man what is it with blizzard and over the top shoulder armor. The dh is passable but the barb, bring down your fantasy medieval rpg geek level down a bit (a whole fucking lot).

The reason they've given for the over-the-top shoulders, at least in WoW, is that the shoulders are the most visually recognizable part of the character's silhouette. So, they make them big and crazy on purpose so they pop out from everything else.

Set bonus is disgusting. If they want reference on how to correctly make set bonus, look at D2X set. Here is the IK set from D2 http://classic.battle.net/diablo2exp/items/sets/sets5.shtml#immortalking How about D3? Every set is the same garbage. Plus 250 main stat, blah blah blah...
This is like, one of the lamest criticisms I've ever heard. All of the D2X class-specific sets were duds because there were other combinations of gear that were much better and did not require the hassle of finding the entire set.
You didn't even pick a good example, IK was just pure stat gains with nothing interesting, Trang-oul's at least let you shoot Fireballs.

I think we need to not overreact here.
Most likely, it's unique to the WIzardspike because it is called Wizardspike.

And remember - on the whole using loot on different characters thing - there are very few stats that are class specific; it probably won't be very hard to enchant a drop your Barbarian found to work for your Wizard.

EDIT: It may also be due to the fact that the Frozen Orb cast by the Wizardspike is now the Arcane Orb:Frozen Orb spell itself (instead of a special thing).

I will definitely be deleting my characters but I'm not sure what I will do about my resources just yet.

Currently I am leaning toward keeping my gold and my crafting mats, since on the PTR when playing new characters it was handy to have the buffer without feeling particularly game-breaking.

Gems I will likely get rid of because they are totally game-breaking at low levels and totally useless at high levels because I don't have especially good ones.
