WW barbarians can be rest assured their precious, 15-years-old cookie will remain main playstyle forever. be sure not to try anything else, cause it's so fun...
(coming from a diablo1 player who played many many barbarians, some of them WW)
seriously, i'll be pleasantly surprised if WW gets nerfed (OR other playstyles brought to same level of efficiency), but blizzard tends to avoid changing the obvious culprits IF they are popular (look at wc3 - BM, DH, DK/Lich and AM were changed... well never, even when obviously being cookies and overpowered... for years)
i would be indifferent to whole stuff, if only my gear wouldn't mainly coming from AH, collected by *someone* who has a *certain skills* that allow him to farm while power-leveling where i can't - basically, i feed that *someone* through my own farming - so it kinda matters
All of the heroes you mentioned did recieve a nerf/buff at one time or another. WoW has "flavor of the month" classes that gets adjusted as well. Just because it's popular doesn't make it immune to nerfs or buffs
hmmm... and i thought i've played a thousands of games throughout all patches... could it be possible i'm wrong? (citing from memory):
- DH was nerfed ONCE - mana burn from 300/200/100 to 150/100/50, still left with ~20% more dps and +6-7 attributes more than others (BM excluded), and if that wasn't necessary, i don't know what was. and it happen like 5+ years ago
- BM actually got buffed with WW (similarity coincidental) collision removal (also left with dps/attributes matching those of DH) - worse, viable alternative FS was nerfed
- AM aura was changed (also needed, also happen long ago)
- undead heroes - i can't remember any significant changes (except shop removal of clarity potion, in like 1.07, maybe earlier)
point is, it all happened very long ago, and for bunch of patches following just... ignored
however, this not being WC3 forum, no point pursuing that further. just pointing out the way blizzard handled popular imbalances by ignoring them in the past
in d2, i wasn't complaining type - 0 complaints in total (all classes played, different builds). i don't have problem with barbarians whatsoever, OR their skills - it's the impact they have on AH.
buffing other classes/skill to a WW level would keep everyone satisfied and game diverse and interesting... but numerous whines 'if my imbalanced build gets balanced and i find myself equal to others, i'm leaving the game, cause i can't abuse no longer' look too much like official forums and doesn't bring any good -

especially the critic of 1.05 patch - it makes me feel uneasy - why don't we just have a four difficulty levels diablo2? cause *that's* where things are going right now... except with no additional awards in form of skills when leveling... looks truly bad
so, count me in as a general supporter of your... religion, but not a zealot. i'll argue with points i consider wrong in the future...
by doing a bit of math, intelligence secondary effect can be made EXACTLY the same as strength (at least with monsters level 60, or any level if armour formula is used). dexterity will be harder to calculate, cause %dodge cannot be identified with actual defense. on a different level, intelligence could be more of a defensive trait (equal to strength), and dexterity more offensive - seems more natural - offering attack speed or criticals instead of %dodge - this way both ranged and melee characters profit from it (in a %dodge scenario, balanced range or glass-cannons profit less than melee)
anyway, going to change signature...

luckily, current passive system is easy to modify...

hahahaha, highly probable, considering family you're living in! but as the same thing happened to ME before, i report this as a copyright infringement!
ok, if we ignore for a moment joined forces of dog and missing file, what *did* divine wisdom had for us in chapter VIII - wizard? btw, i can help you with translating numbers to inferior, but more understandable for this age, format

you're completely mad, i must say - but have a good discussion point in most parts, while being totally right in some (and totally wrong in some) - anyway, i'm not sorry for a lengthy read, if nothing
tell you what - i'll support your 'blog' when you show me the wizard
btw, blog looks AWFUL! couldn't you do ANY worse? i mean, what inside is of importance, but it's such a mess and pain to look

i'm sorry for not reading OP carefully enough - though i've read whole thing - but title was so suggestive
anyway, from game lore i suspect shen will be at least a side-story in one of two expansions (i believe i saw two on a roadmap), and having that in mind, lots of changes/additions regarding gems will be made, possibly similar to your runewords. but they are saving it for expansion
and current gem system is flawed beyond measure, true

1) a "fixed rares" - namely, items with predefined characteristics that you could rolled otherwise with enough luck
2) a "crafted legendary" (except put on item of choice)
both of these exist already exists - and, truthfully i COMPLETELY disagree with blizzard idea of legendary items being crafted and being so random that they look like rares + 5% uniqueness (good thing they change name, since nothing mass produced can't be really called unique)
i'm not saying that having runes and runewords again is a bad thing, but i'm interesting where exactly your idea is leading - what is the purpose of runewords? we had specific niche in diablo2, but here it is filled already with "crafted legendary/set" nonsense
