I think you can get some ideas in reading Deadlybonne's guides on how to get items effectively from AH for monk.

As for end-game weapon with no constraint on budget, 2 x echoing fury with dex, crit damage and socket should be great for DW.

When your DPS is up, say, 60k+, then a more solid build is to add HP to 45k+, with which you have more buffer to play around and more leaway for some mistake or carelessness.

    Forget to add:

You might watch out for life after kill LAK as well.

Minions can be killed in one or two hits, LAK=2000 is equivalent to 1000 - 2000 LOH.

LAK 2000 is way cheaper than LOH=1000 on weapons.

Kill elites before the minions, you'll be pretty safe.

Depend on your resist, HP and DPS, CC, stc. I can face roll elites at about 50k DPS.

You need also +life globe and pick radius as well. Elites and bosses drop life globe pretty soon and often.

Of course, you still cannot stand still at hot mortar or at the centre of laser beams.

Hit hard and move along to avoid explosion, as the cyclone will kill the monster.

Some LOH and regen helps, get them as bonus on some items.

It is viable with INNA set to achieve 100k+ DPS, where less resist will be required.

You can have double resist on other pieces and single resist on jewels to achieve 600+.

With the set, you have +IAS, tons of dex, spirit regen and large spirit reduction in SW. The set is expensive though.

With a rapid drop in weapon price, it is not so hard to gear up a monk playing at A3, and other classes may just feel the same.

It is true that we have a similar build, and there are not much options in choosing skills and runes.

However, with the introduction of the 1.0.4, SSS can be added on top of the cyclone build to drop elites, and the monk might be the only class that could drop A3 elites by one hit. Other builds are coming up, WOL (bell) with SSS and/or SW/cyclone, which are very feasible but perhaps only just a bit less efficient in farming.

Now we have the 2h builds by Thundersteels, which open up new paths for some interesting efficient builds. unlike bards, monk requires more planning (spirit management) and tactic in the build and play style with speed and mobility.

Even with the same build, the play styles for monks may vary quite a bit in approaching packs and elites, the sequence in hitting the buttons and how to position, make the first attack and stay out of danger are more like personal choices.

Well, it calmed me down a bit upon hearing all these stories. Thanks for sharing.

SSS is a nice addon to the traditional SW/cyclone build to drop elites (main part of the game now), especially in A3, it is much easier than before. Thank Blizard, the cool down is only 30 seconds.

Tonight, I would like to test different runes on Izhul (spelling) or other tough slow guy on A4.

For those interested, please do some independent tests and share.

I was testing the resist requirement at A4 with my shield and DW monk.

In the intensive fight in swapping some items for various setups, I didn't pay much attention to the rares and rubbish items collected. Maybe I have given a just identified rare brace an extra right click wihtout my knowing it, I then sold all the craps en bloc to the merchant with a series of rapid right clicks.

I found something wrong after a while as I was fighting with less resisitance and down by 6CC. When I rushed back to town, to my disappointment, the brace is gone forever as the merchant only keeps the last 12 items sold to him.

I am pround of this brace, which I bought from AH quite sometimes ago with less than 1M. When I checked for a replacement at AH, there is less than 5 braces with 6CC, +100 dex and my light resist. The magic find on it is okay, but what I miss the most is the godly +12k to life globe, which I believe can only spawn to level 63 items. No brace on AH can match, even the best one asking for more than 30M.

Now I fight with my last used 4.5CC brace and with some other adjustments, my CC is down to 36%.

To make this up, I upgrade my sword to increase my DPS to 42k for shield and about 50k for DW.

    Anyone got similar experience?

    Zorgmeister,

Yours is really cool. With 24k DPS, you rely heavily on the 1000+ LOH to clear the game.

That's is possible if you're always on the move, but it may not be good enough to farm A3.

My items are similar to yours but maybe one notch better except the amulet as I don't have any set or legendary.

Well, Zorgmeister, I am a casual player and I haven't done much farming and may not have much to show. But, I've done quite well at bidding items. I never had more than 2 million in my account, except recently I started to do some trading to earn my first 10 million.

As for my monk, all are crappy rare items bid from AH for maximum 1.5 million a piece, except my sword which I acquired yesterday at 4M. The worth of the items is much more than I put in, as some items with excellet attributes I got them really cheap. As a matter of fact, AH can improve your knowledge on items and possibly game play as well.

In fact, I don't know how to create the hero page as you guy did, my shame. Can you help?

About 40k DPS with shield or 48k DPS DW with enchantress.

    synB33R:

You have better gear than I do. Some slight changes for massive upgrade:

Yet your CC is relatively low, you can simply added some CC to your brace and amulet, 9-10%.

Upgrade the gem of your dagger to 80 or 90%.

Find a boot with pickup radius along with some additional dex.

Your DPS will up by about 10k and you should have good life sustain element to farm A3 fairly easily.

Hey, if you can blast through all acts, there is no point to upgrade.

If you can access to any exquisite items, there is no need to play.

Depends on your objectives, you may consider changing some of your items.

P100, beat the game in the shortest time, kill diablo in the least hit, PVP, etc.

If you want to practice play skills on hardcore, you should in fact wear half of your current set.

I appreciate most the 100k Demon Hunter to beat the game, but that is another extreme.

    Forget to add:

The more DPS the better, so pop all the buff to engage MoC, BoH, BF.

Kick on the minions to warm up, when the elites come on you, hit them right at their head.

An efficient build for almost all characters is around DPS.

Try to increase the DPS in the most efficient manner and the other items will come by naturally.

Your CC is low if you play a cyclone build, get this up to 30-40%.

I'll replace the purple gems to green gems for much more DPS, 80 or 90%x2.

Get some life sustain elements, life globes or LPK.

Life globes and LPK are in the right concept that you gain life on killing, so they are the most efficient.

With all these, you'll fly and laugh on elites.

    Nice work!

How many bells combined with SSS are needed to drop the elites, along with any guess on DPS?

The monsters will get you if you're running out of arsenals.
